- Kriti Nepal - 24010, Grade X ... 06 December, 2021

The Noname Director Steve
- Simone Shree Pathak - 24006, ... 06 December, 2021

In the outskirts of Manhattan lived a man named Steve. Steve was a very peculiar person. He was a movie director by profession. He wished to be famous. Yes, you guessed it; he wasn’t popular in the movie industry. Steve was just a no name. He wanted to prove his worth to the industry and make his name. He only had one issue that was hindering him from reaching his goal. He was very stubborn. Steve believed in making non-commercialized films and he was dead set on it. The reason for it was still unknown. Nobody watched Steve’s movie even if he had the talent for it.

That way, Steve was still in the pit of the industry trying to climb up the ladders without identifying his problems. His friends and family constantly told him that non commercialized movies weren’t going to take him anywhere but he didn’t even care about that. His friends who studied in the same major as him grew up to be famous directors but he was just the same, waiting for his chance to shine not knowing when it would come.

One day, one of the famous actresses named Claudette invited Steve to her new movie premiere. Steve, not knowing the reason why she invited him still goes to the movie premiere in the end to be left astonished. The movie was amazing and Claudette’s acting was flawless. He felt the urge of wanting to work with her. After the movie premiere ended, Steve directly headed to Claudette who was at that time receiving praises from the other people who came there to the movie premiere.

Claudette notices Steve and she goes up to him telling to come to the parking lot. Steve agrees and when they reach there; he asks her to star in his movie. Claudette immediately agrees to his proposal as if she was waiting for it. Steve who yelled with joy is later disappointed because Claudette wanted to add a condition. She did not want the movie to be a non commercialized one.

Steve says he needs some time to think and Claudette gets a little angry. She tells him how he should stop being so stubborn when he was just a no name of a director. She adds how he’ll never be famous and will be at the bottom of the pit forever if he never stops being arrogant. Steve’s pride gets hurt because no one was so harsh at his decision to continue making non-commercial movies. Steve thinks for a whole week about whether he should work with Claudette. He later is left with no choice and decides to film a movie with her.

The movie would be about a girl who lived in the countryside with no past memories. The movie took around 4 months to make and it was later released. The movie did very well. Claudette was a flawless actress and Steve wasn’t a bad director he just needed a spotlight to showcase his talent. The movie was called “Concealed” and it earned very well. Steve has now become one of the most famous directors in Hollywood. But sometimes he still wonders if he should just go back to being a non commercialized movie director.

- Muskan Singh - 24003, Grade X ... 03 December, 2021

Failure is success in progress
- Muskan Singh - 24003, Grade X ... 03 December, 2021

Normally the day started with the alarm and then followed by the usual daily routine. I went to the hospital and my husband went to his NGO. Then when I was coming back I saw a teenage boy who was going to commit sucide by jumping from the bridge. I pulled him down and asked him the reason behind this drastic step. He started to cry and ran from there. After a lot of effort I caught him and questioned that again. Although this time he didn’ ran away like that, but asked me for some water. Unfortunately I didn’t have it right then, so I couldn’t give him.

Nevertheless I was able to calm him down. I took him to a cafe and Finally he revealed what had happened. “Sis, I don’t know what to do, I just can’t see the way or future in front of me, it's just dark. I seriously can’t handle this all, I am done with it.”he said. Although I tried to console him  and tried to know why he was so disturbed?, “ I am a bachelors student and I have been trying to clear the course for 3 years although I am not able to complete it. Maybe I am not eligible for it, my parents feel I am a burden to them after knowing this and I couldn’t face them”.

“So do you want to end your life for it, look buddy, life is a journey where you face hurdles but we should run from them because it's not the solution.” I said to him, “ I am a specialized  doctor  now but to come to this position it took me much time.. I want to do MBBS and aim to be a doctor. But my parents didn’t have much money then for my studies so I did a part time job. It was not easy to handle the studies and the job side by side but I worked hard as I knew my parents have contributed a lot for me and I cannot be a disappointment for them.”

Then he asked whether my dream had become reality. Then I explained that it was not easy as I couldn’t pass the entrance exam with good grades as I wanted a scholarship so I tried for almost two years for it, at that time many hurdles came. Sometimes I feel like,  Can I really be a doctor?, but in all this I learnt to be patient because if I had lost it then maybe all my hard work, effort and my parents' contribution had been useless. I just gave my 100% and believed in myself that I can do it.

After I passed the entrance exam with a scholarship. And in a few years I completed my MBBS course. After completing it I felt I am a really good doctor and superior in this field as I had done many successful operations. But there was one case which was really complex. I also had a hard time dealing with it but an intern did that operation really easily and successfully. Although the patient was safe it hurt my ego as I had been working in this field for so many years. How an intern can do  the surgery so smoothly which was complex  for me too! Then I got to learn that he has been learning a new method to do that operation in a simple manner. On that day I learned that staying updated is really important, else it doesn't matter how many years you have contributed for it, at last you will surely be left behind. “So boy it's important to keep faith in yourself and have patience with hard work to achieve your dreams.”I said to him.
And Finally he was convinced and decided to work hard again this time and give his 100% to achieve what he wants and face the challenges rather than running away from it.

- Yunil Ghimire - 24008, Grade ... 02 December, 2021

Her Promise
- Niharika Chapagain - 25006, G ... 02 December, 2021

Growing up in a middle class family, Nadia Anderson was familiar with the world and its cruelty. She was a sweet, simple girl and her family consisted of her father, Bill Anderson, her grandfather Alec, her mother Janet, her brother Neil, and her sister Ava. Her father worked as a doctor in the city however with his salary they barely could handle the financial condition of the house. So, her grandfather also used to work in his own clinic. He was a herbalist and many people used to come to the clinic for herbal medicines. Nadia grew up seeing her grandfather work hard and make medicines which had severely inspired her to do something similar in the future. One day, she had asked her grandfather about what he always wanted because till then, he had always worked for their family. Alec, her grandfather, had replied smiling, “I want my princess Nadia to be famous and people must appreciate your work. You must do what you like and accomplish success with patience, knowledge and hard-work. Promise that you’ll make this dream come true.”

Nadia still has this strong memory of her promising her grandfather about making his dream come true. She wanted to follow his path and make his herbal medicines famous, since that was what she always liked to do. Since she was very young at that time, that promise that she had made with her grandfather, became her ultimate goal and her reason to live. She wanted to be a businessperson, and promote her grandfather’s medicines. So, to fulfill her dream, she went to a college in the city to study MBA, and stayed in the college dorm. However, when she returned home after completing her studies, everything changed. Her father couldn’t recognize her, his own daughter, Nadia! And then, suddenly he fainted. Everyone took him to the hospital and the doctor revealed the fact that their father had Alzhimer’s and it was already stage 5. This explained why in the past their father used to forget to do many things. Bill, their father, had the responsibility of taking care of the whole house but since his health condition was not stable, the doctor had advised him not to work.

This situation resulted in the three siblings taking care of the financial responsibilities of the whole house. However, fate had different plans. Their grandfather passed away in such a critical situation, and their ungrateful sister Ava, eloped with her boyfriend despite knowing the situation of the house. She had abandoned her responsibilities and chosen herself instead of her family. Seeing her selfishness, Janet, the sibling’s mother, disowned Ava, and told everyone to forget about her. With everything going on, the treatment of her father, the funeral of her grandfather, the situation going on with her sister, and no source of income in the house, her dream and the new journey she wanted to start, were shattered into pieces. But when one day, Neil, her elder brother, graduated from the university, they got to know that the project he had done in the university, was loved by the professors and they had guaranteed him a job, and an apartment for their family to live in the UK. In some months, Nadia and her family left their home, but the promise she had made to her grandfather was eating her up from inside since she was not able to fulfill it. She had to leave her home, but the promise and her and her grandfather’s memories were still alive. So, she promised to herself, to never let her late grandfather down. After they reached their apartment, she had mentioned about starting a business start-up in front of her parents and her brother thinking they would support her. But who knew, their reply would be “Business is not meant for you.” Hearing that, Nadia had felt that her family didn't care about her choices, but, she thought, could she really blame her family for saying that?

Looking at their current situation going on with their family, their decision was understandable since her brother was working hard day by day to help their family financially and in that condition, opening a business start-up would be impossible for them with no capital to spend. She understood her family’s decision and worked in a company to save some money to start her business. When she had some amount of money she decided to quit her work and open her own company but when her parents heard about that, they forced her into a marriage thinking she would forget about her dream after settling down. She didn’t want to marry until she became successful and fulfilled her dream, so she told her family that she would only step into that house after she achieves something in her life. Then, she met her two friends from university, and told them about starting her business but they disagreed since she only had some amount of money which was not enough to start a business. Nadia was not broken but instead accepted the challenge and used her creativity and knowledge and organized a program using the money she had saved. She promoted the program through radio, posters and invited some investors personally.

In the program, she served herbal tea, which her grandfather used to make using some herbs and everyone liked the tea and at the end of the day, she even got an investor but since Nadia didn’t have experience, or any contacts with other companies, there was less chance of having profit. So, the investor agreed to invest in her company on the condition that if the profit amount is less than the estimated amount, the company would be his and she would have to return the amount invested with interest to the investor. After reaching up to this point, Nadia couldn’t back off. She had no choice but to accept the deal. When she got the investor, her two university friends joined her and soon they came up with a company name, and a logo design for her company. The company’s name was ‘Alec Herbs Inc.’ She had named it after her grandfather Alec since it was his dream that she was fulfilling. The company was soon opened and it became quite famous after some months. However an investor of her company deceived her and her company faced so much loss that she completely went bankrupt. She had no one to seek favor with and the investor who had invested in her company before, refused to support her and asked for his money with interest. She was lost but still hadn’t given up.

Since she was quite famous in the town, the news spread very quickly throughout the town and the media had started questioning her about the incident. Deciding to tell the truth, she conducted a conference with the media, and told the truth about the investor deceiving her. When she was about to leave, finishing the conference, to think of some solution, she was met with her family who had tears in their eyes that were filled with guilt. They apologized for not understanding her choices, and her dreams, and helped her with the financial problems of her company realizing that to her, her dream was way more important than her life. Soon, everything fell into place, and Nadia continued to do her business making sure not to repeat the same mistake again. She used her knowledge and gave her whole time towards her business. She was pleased knowing that now her family was there to support her in every step of her life, and Nadia couldn’t be more happier than ever since she had fulfilled her promise and she wished her grandfather was looking at her from somewhere far away, feeling happy and proud of her granddaughter.

“ Never dream about success, but work for it with patience, perseverance, understanding and diligence.”

Just that small faith
- Bipana Shrestha - 24002, Grad ... 01 December, 2021

There is this girl named Ivani who is known for her personality. She was very kind and helpful. She always used to help anyone in need. She used to stay at the hostel as she had lost her parents in the accident when she was young. Since childhood, she used to stay alone. She was not so good at studies cause she never had someone that could counsel her. No one was by her side when all she needed was love and care. After the classes were over, she always used to see her classmates and their parents being happy. She always hoped each day that maybe someone will be there for her but again each day alas, that never happened for her.
Unknowingly day by day she started to envy her friends. Even at the hostel parents used to come to visit their children and take them home during the weekends. But Ivani knew that no one was going to come to take her home or even visit her but also she kind of had that little hope that maybe today someone will come for her. But as usual, she was alone. She felt left out. There was no one by her side during her hard times. She moved to a different school at the age of 13. She moved to a different and very unrelated school. Everyone and everything was totally new to her, her friends, her roommates, her classes, everything. She had a very hard time getting along with her friends and classmates.
As the time passed she slowly distanced and closed herself up from everyone she knew. To her, it seems like her world was only limited to her school and her hostel. She stopped herself from opening up to anyone or even trying to talk to anyone. She always thought that she was always on her own no matter what she did or said, she would overthink everything. ‘Maybe they are looking at me because I did something wrong’ or ‘ I probably said something that’s why they are mad’, her anxiety and overthinking was getting worse day by day, it reached the point where she just wanted to disappear so that she didn’t have to face this loneliness. But she still had her faith that maybe someday, something would happen, something miraculous, something that would make everything better. Just that small faith in herself never made her take a wrong step in her life, she tried to stay optimistic as long as she could.
And the miracle that she had been waiting to happen did take place but it was a little different than what she had expected. The miracle was in the form of a guy, a friend that was completely opposite of what she was. He was the kind of person that could make a person smile just by looking or by being in his presence. He was the popular guy who everyone couldn’t stop talking about ‘Kai did this’ ‘ Kai did that’ whereas Ivani was invisible to everyone. Even though Ivani didn’t talk much. Kai was always bothering her either by teasing her or by teaching her. He was always there for her. She just never noticed him, never tried to cause her anxiety, never let her notice Kai being there for her no matter what. But Kai on the other hand would always try to talk to her no matter what she said or did he had these feelings that he should protect Ivani or help her in any way he could.
As the time passed Kai helped Ivani to open up to him. Slowly it  began working out as well, Ivani started talking to Kai about everything to the point where she was like an open book to him. Slowly she started to see life from a different perspective and she eventually began enjoying her life where her world was not limited to her school and hostel. She actually liked being around people and talking to them, she liked trying new stuff and she liked Kai.

So just that little faith she had, worked out wonders in her favour.

Hard work leads to success
- Joya Shrestha - 25004, Grade ... 30 November, 2021

There was a boy who dreamed of being a singer. He used to sing from a small age. He used to sing in school programs and used to participate in different competitions. His parents never supported him and never believed in him. His parents were very busy and he never got a chance to show them as well, but it didn't stop him and he never gave up. He worked even harder to achieve his dream. His parents wanted him to study rather than working on his dreams. They thought it was useless as it did not assure steady payment.

His parents didn’t let him buy a guitar. But his best friend had a guitar and late at night he used to sneak out from his house and go to his friends house to practice playing the instrument. Everyday he used to go to his friends house to learn guitar and eventually he became better at it too. He wanted to become a great guitarist and singer. In his school he had a very supportive teacher who always encouraged him to have patience and learn singing. He had practiced singing quietly for a few months. One day his sir informed him about the singing competition but the sir was a bit worried when he said he would participate because he was not well prepared and the competition had toughened up as the time had changed. The sir tried to convince him to not participate as he needed more practice but it went all in vain. He didn't listen and went to participate in the competition. There he saw a very tough competition and he didn't get selected for the next round and he regretted not listening to his teacher.  His performance was very old style. He felt embarrassed and went back to his teacher. He apologized to his teacher and he told his teacher that he should have patience and everything would have taken time to happen, not everything happened at once and the way he wanted it too as well. He requested his teacher to teach him first and to nourish his singing. After that he practiced patiently.

After months of hard work he entered into the same competition. He worked very hard for it. He learned a lot from his teacher and watched many youtube videos. After that he was selected for the competition. He learned many new things in the competition. After all of the hard work and patience he won the competition. He thanked his teacher for everything. He proved his parents and he made them realize that it was not useless. He was very happy and he realized that patience, hard work would eventually lead to success.

- Bipana Shrestha - 24002, Grad ... 30 November, 2021

JingChu of the Bai
- Anushka Basnet - 24001, Grade ... 29 November, 2021

It was during the cultivation period when JingChu was born. Beautiful skin, long brown hair, slender body, were all with him since birth. Born into a noble family of the Bais', JingChu had never worried about money or cultivation skill. He was an air elemental with low discipline. Though not much he was in 5th rank of cultivation. He had everything one wanted. JingChu, who was every person’s dream, had one major defect. He was a stubborn young master who had always been ordering people around. The Bai family were pretty renowned for their high cultivation skills and mana technique. Their techniques passed down with the generations but of course the generations had to train hard regardless which JingChu refused to do. Among young girls and boys he was pretty popular as the rich gongzi who loved to spend money on people whom he took fancy upon. The elders thought of him as the black sheep of the Bai family. LongYe was his long adored best friend. These 16 year old friends did everything together. They were best of friends.
The Longs were also quite powerful in terms of mana but Longye was born without any skills and had always had it hard. It was during one snowy winter when JingChu's life suddenly took a 180° turn. Longye and JingChu were playing on the snow when some road thieves started attacking them. With Jingchu's small power of Air element, he was able to protect himself but unfortunately Longye was pushed down the hill to his death. Guilt filled JingChu's heart. It was too late to catch the thieves when Jingchu finally came back to his senses. Sorrow, guilt, loneliness, empty filled Jingchus heart after all he had lost his only friend. He knew behad never been a good friend to Longye. All his life came flashing to him. He has always been treating people like objects. The only wish his friend had was for Jingchu to earn his manas and finally be a great air elemental. That day he promised to all the deities, his well wishers, ancestors and his friend to fulfill his duty as the young master of the Bai family.
It took endless hardwork and patience for JungChu to reach his goal.  As his body progressed in its cultivation, his body became more durable, his lifespan lengthened and his innate skills became stronger. With small steps he moved forward with much discipline and patience. He was sure to practice his skills everyday and raise his level.
Now the young master Bai JingChu stood proud with elegant body posture in front of those road thieves who were the reason his friend had passed away. His long hours of practice had taught him that anger and recklessness were a great defect of a person. He let the thieves reflect on their actions and let them live. Now young and adults all knew JingChu as the respectable Gongzi who can take over the family head anytime. Longye had made a huge sacrifice for his friend which JingChu understood and fulfilled.
