Life of Cristiano Ronaldo
- Srishad Shiwakoti - 27026, Gr ... 29 August, 2023

Everyone has probably heard of the name Cristiano Ronaldo. People who doesnt know a bit about football or sports also know his name. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best football players ever. He has the most goals in football history with 838 goals. He is also the player with the most Champions League with 5 titles. He has won every trophy a footballer could win except the FIFA World Cup. But, he was not talented by birth. His passion and hard working nature made him the best.

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Averio was born on the small island of Portugal named Madeira. He was born in a poor family where his mother was a cook and his father was a kit man. His father was alcoholic so the family were troubled. At the age of 12 he went on a trial at Sporting CP where they paid him 1500 euros. So, at the age of 14 he left his family and went to Lisbon for his training at Sporting CP. He dropped out of school from 6th grade after he threw a chair at his teacher for disrespecting him. So, he was becoming a full time football player when suddenly he was diagnosed with Tachycardia - a heart disease. But, luckily the surgery was done successfully and he continued playing football. At the age of 18 he had the greatest signing. He was signed by Manchester United permanently under Sir Alex Ferguson. He made his debut for Manchester United in 2003. He won the FA cup in 2003 in his first season. Sir Alex Ferguson was impressed and gave him the jersey number 7. In 2008, he won the Club World Cup, Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield, Ballon d'or and FIFA Best Player of the Year. This year was one of the best seasons in his life. After that, he won back to back Premier Leagues with 3 titles. He had a very successful career at Manchester United. But in 2009, he joined Real Madrid. He had a more successful career there. He scored 451 goals there in 438 appearances. He won the four Champions League titles, three FIFA Club World Cups, two La Liga crowns, two Copa del Rey titles, two Spanish Super Cups and two UEFA Super Cups as a team. And personally he won 4 ‘Ballon d’ors’, Three Golden Boots award,  two ‘The Best’ awards, three ‘Pichichi Crowns’ and ‘UEFA Best Player in Europe’ award. He made Real Madrid the best club in the world. He became the top scorer of Real Madrid. But sadly he joined Juventus in 2018. He just won the Serie A and its top scorer award. Talking about his national career, he has the World Record for most international goals for his country 123 and another World record for most appearances - 200. He has won the Euro Cup 2016 and a Nations League 2019. He has several world records. He has the most goals in football history, he has the most goals in UEFA Champions League and Club World Cup, he is the most followed person in instagram and twitter and most liked person in Facebook, oldest player to score a hat trick in World Cup, most international goals, most international appearances, highest jump and header and many more.

Though, currently he is not in good form with the club. He will always be one of the best footballers ever. He has achieved quite a lot that only a few can dream of.

Hope
- Phoebe Shrestha - 26016, Grad ... 28 August, 2023

In a small town, there lived a young girl named Lily. She always felt different from her classmates. Her classmates always used to mock her, excluding her from their games, calling her names. But she longed to be accepted, to find love and respect from those around her. One day she was walking nearby the forest when she saw a wounded bird with broken wings. She felt pity for the bird as she picked and took the bird with her in her house. She also realized that the bird was just like her, different, and in need of love and care.

Lily decided to take the bird back home and nurture it back to health. She named the bird Hope, as she believed that it symbolized hope itself. She took care of the bird for days, feeding, keeping it warm, talking to it, sharing her problems and dreams with the bird. As weeks passed, the bird’s wing healed and it regained its strength. Lily thought that it was the time that this bird should go but surprisingly, Hope did not fly away but perched on her shoulder as a sign of friendship. Like Lily, it seemed that Hope found comfort in Lily's presence. At this news of Lily’s special bond with Hope was spreaded through the town and that is when people started seeing Lily in a different way. They realized her uniqueness. Now her classmates slowly liked her, approached her, eager to learn something about her interests and dreams. Slowly, with time, Lily blossomed. She became more confident in herself. After knowing that her differences were not a barrier for love and respect. She also learned to respect herself with full heart. And in doing so, she discovered that acceptance was transferable. It paved the way for love and respect not to herself but also to others. Lily’s journey taught her a valuable lesson that acceptance is the first step towards love and respect. It needs understanding, empathy, and an open heart. Each person has their own story, own struggles, and they have their own rights in it. They have a unique story and experiences. By accepting ourselves, that will also make others do the same. From that day forward, Lily became an advocate for acceptance and kindness. She started speaking out for participation and kindness after that. She told others about her experience, expressing the idea that appreciating difference creates a more loving and respectful society because acceptance had not only healed the bird’s wing but also repaired her own soul, she felt a different connection with Hope. The injured bird became a reminder of the transformative power of acceptance.

In conclusion, the story teaches us that acceptance is the first step toward love and respect, whether it is for oneself or for others. Accepting our own uniqueness and qualities opens the door for us to understand and appreciate the difference in others. Acceptance creates a space for empathy, kindness and connections, ultimately resulting in a world that is more peaceful and tolerant.

- Ravi Raj Singh - 27010, Grade ... 28 August, 2023

Struggling With Comfort
- Sonam Sunner - 27017, Grade I ... 25 August, 2023

A struggling comfort can be found in different ways. Each and every person in this world has a reminder of relief with a certain place, memory, activity or more. This strong feeling of comfort is vastly powerful. So powerful you never want to let go of that feeling. It will turn into an addiction. As much as you try or as much as other people help, you will be stuck there because you know deep down as much as this may lower yourself down, you have never felt this much comfort in anything.

Feeling comfortable, being alone is a struggle many face. Knowing deep down the more you rest alone, the more you distance yourself from the world, the more depressed you become, you can’t let go. Why? Because This has been the only concept which has made you feel like you’re comforted and protected. But are you really? You are lowering yourself, and you know it. But as much as you know this is bringing you down by a lot, you will find struggle getting over this comfort.

Social media is a comfort most people of this generation feel. And why is that? Social media shares their story or struggle all over the internet, indicating they are not the only one facing such problems. Social media lets you disregard reality. Making you forget all your problems in the real world. You will live in a fantasy. You will believe you are happy and comforted in this world. But the other side of your brain believes not. Ignoring this fact, you will struggle dealing with this comfort as well. As much as you know you are doing no good with this, you will never let go.

Now talking about comfort found in certain memories. How much amusement and happiness did you get from this memory? It was the best moment of your life. How much joy was found within me? But it's all gone now. And it’s the only thing you can remember. As much as you want to let go of this past you cannot, because you felt a huge amount of joy, so much seeing yourself live without will make you sorrowful and you do not want to feel like that again. So now you are living in memories tearing yourself down. You will feel like a burden but you do not want to admit it so you live in this recollection of the past you felt such joy in. As much as you want to believe you are happy remembering this amusing past you had, you know you are hurting yourself dearly but this comfort will stay within you.

Comfort of service is found within many people too. Helping out a certain someone with their problems, assisting them, Servicing them, you feel a strange comfort in this. Pleasing people can be demanding as well as burdensome. Assisting them with their problems and requirements, but who is there to assist yours. Realizing No one will give you the same action you did to them, you can feel a bit let down. But you feel such sympathy and joy doing so. You feel as if maybe in the future they will support you back. So you keep helping people, assisting them, then waiting and waiting and waiting. And yet there is nothing in return. But you won’t give up, helping everyone, forgetting your problems.

Comfort like this is found in many places. Yet there is nothing to do. You already feel comforted, you can’t go back now.

The Journey of Acceptance
- Prashraya Shrestha - 26014, G ... 24 August, 2023

In the medieval times there lived a young man, Hird, who was the heir to the throne of Norway. He was an arrogant leader as he was the only child of the king. The king spoiled him rotten. He thought the world belonged to him and he could do anything. As all Norwegians do; he had a deep hatred towards Sweden. In the ongoing Nordic war Norway had lost a huge amount of land to Sweden but the King was laid back but wise, he knew that war only brought bloodshed and tears to his own people but no one understood him.

Soon his kind nature became his downfall and his kingdom was invaded by the Swedes. The Swedes had an army of one hundred thousand troops led by the all mighty Anders. The king had seen it coming, so he had escaped to the bunker with his son. But the bunker was not away from the reach of Anders. He tore through the door but his guard stalled him enough for the king to hide his son with his right hand general Fredrik. Anders chopped the king's limbs and hung him by his hair. In a fit of rage the Hird jumped at Anders poking his left eye but Anders just flung the weak young boy.

Anders asked the king, “Tell me, what do you wish for as your last wish?”.
The king replied “Let the boy flee!”.
Anders smiled and said, “Wish granted.” and chopped the king's head off.

He let Hird flee with Fredrik. On a makeshift boat they sailed oceans together until they found land. All they had was Fredrik’s armor and a book which the king gave Hird before dying. They reached land, only to be discovered by vikings. Fredrik tried to fight but he was no match for the trained vikings considering his physical state. But the viking leader, Karl, was intrigued by Hird. Even in his royal clothes he was not afraid to take a beating and was confident. Karl took Hird and Fredrik into his guild, and Hird received a new name, Gunnar.

15 years passed and Gunnar still had a deep hatred for Swedish people but now he has killed numerous innocent Swedish People. Fredrik, because of his fighting skills, was promoted to the leader of the viking group after Karl died. The viking group now was the size of a nation and their primary objective was to invade Norway. On the day the king died they invaded but they were no match for the Swedish troops and numerous soldiers were killed. Fredrik knew they would die if they invaded Norway so he had given Gunnar sleeping pills so that he would be late to join them. After awakening Gunnar followed the trail and reached Norway. He saw numerous bodies of his friends with whom he had spent years with but more importantly he saw Fredrik taking his last breath after a brutal fight with Anders. Even though Anders was slayed, Fredrik was too weak to live much longer. Gunnar went close to him and Fredrik said “Gunnar, this life is not for you.” and hands him the book the King had given him, and continues,“I wish I had read this earlier” and shuts his eyes forever. The soldiers take notice of Gunnar, and Gunnar runs, while tears roll down his face. He gets shot by arrows but escapes to the forest.

There he encounters a blonde haired woman picking flowers. She attends to his wounds and brings him to his home far away from the kingdom. She has two children and her grandmother but her husband was killed by the local viking group failing to pay their loans on time. She was old and had not spoken in years. Gunnar spends months with them. Doing handy work in exchange for shelter. He starts calling the woman, sister and the old woman, grandma but he secretly despises them as they were Swedish. One day Gunnar asked, “Sister, what is your actual name?”. She replies with a smile, “Freydis Hird”. In a fit of rage Gunnar grabs a hammer and starts threatening her. Freydis replies, “What has gotten into you?”

Gunnar says “A Swedish peasant like you with the name of Norwegian royalties? Stop joking with me!” Freydis insists that it is the truth but it was too late Gunnar took his hammer and hit Freydis with it. His anger which has fully consumed him went to the grandma and attempted to hit her but he couldn’t. The grandmother who had not spoken in years speaks for the first time, “Stop son, stop hitting your own people!”. Seeing Freydis die he gets reminded of Fredrik and his last words. He reads the book he was given. Which says:

Dear future king of Norway,

It is me king Hird the 5th and you must be Hird the 6th. As now you are the king of Norway, you are worthy of the truth. Our story starts off 5 years before I was declared the king of Norway. I was a simple farmer living beyond the forest, Sweden . Yes, I am a Swedish man, I was a slave for a man with my mother. I had fallen in love with another slave and we were declared married by our owner. One day while farming, a boy walked in the farm wearing a big helmet chasing butterflies. He was the same age as me but I could feel his kind and gentle aura. I talked to him and gradually we became friends. The next week he came with 4 armed men in a very expensive looking horse and declared me the owner of the farm. The previous owner tried to object but he was shut by a pouch of gold. The boy started coming more often and one day he did not bring his armed men. It was just him and his horse. He said to me, “Do you want to be the king of Norway?”. I replied, “Of course, what kind of a question is that ?”
He removed his helmet and put it on my head, it was the first time I had seen his face he was majestic with blue eyes and brown hair, then he said, “From now your name is Hird and you are the heir of Norway, I am going far away never to be seen again” and handed me 3 pouches of gold and silver. He left and I never saw him again. I hid the pouch of gold underneath the first crop I ever planted. And the next day armed guards came and took me. I still regret leaving my wife as she was pregnant with our first child and I still regret leaving my mother. After being declared king I was forced by the Pope to have kids with a Norwegian woman. And my second child was born. Who is you…

Gunnar was brought to tears and to confirm what had been written in the letter he went to look for the gold. He finds it and leaves them to his grandma and sister, and leaves. He had become the person he hated the most. All his life he despised Swedish people but he himself was a Swedish man. He felt like his life had crumbled before his eyes and tried to commit suicide but the memories of Fredrik’s sacrifice does not let him. Now, he is an empty man.

He wanders the forest for years, aimlessly walking towards nothing. He blames God for making him Swedish. He wants vengeance but he finds killing his own people to achieve vengeance against his own people pointless. Out of exhaustion he collapses. In his dream he is sent to a heaven like place where he sees nothing in the distance and the floor is covered in water. He sees Fredrik who says, “No point fighting young boy, no matter if you're Norwegian, Swedish or Danish you all came from god. No matter how much you try to separate yourself from others you can't be separated as every person in this world is your brother and every woman is your sister. Accept who you are, at the end of the day you came from the same place and will go to the same place, so there is no point fighting, now open your eyes Gunnar.” Gunnar awakens but now his eyes are not filled with sorrow but are filled with admiration and will power.

He starts accepting himself for who he is as a person and not by his origins. He becomes wiser and starts practicing meditation. After 3 years he returned to the farm, his grandma had sadly passed away but his sister even after what he had done was happy to see him. He says to his sister, “Sister, I want to help the people I despised the most as after 3 years of self reflection and meditation I have come to realize the only way to terminate my hatred for Swedish people is by accepting them. Acceptance is the key to overcoming hatred as we gain love and respect from it and love and respect is the only power that can overcome hatred.” His sister smiles and says, “My brother has grown so much, He is finally the man our father wanted him to become. I will support you brother.” Gunnar leaves carrying a pouch of gold. He buys a nearby farm in a small village.

The same year, the Nordic war began and he gained an influence among the villagers. With their help they treated any person in need, No matter their skin, their color and nationality, no matter losing the war or winning they helped everyone. Each day he had tons of people laying down on his open farm and he used to treat them. By this time he had seen many soldiers die and treated many soldiers. During this time he gained popularity in Europe and earned the name, “Helper”.

After the Nordic war was over the Swedish throne was empty and an election was held by the Pope the majority of the people agreed to let Gunnar rule as he had helped all regardless of their ethnicity or race accepted all into the nation. Due to the diversity the nation became a trade hub which earned the kingdom a lot of wealth. After 10 years being in office Gunnar passed down the throne to his nephew. And he embarked on the journey with his pupils to seek eternal happiness and peace by the help of acceptance. 30 years later he died and last words were, “Fredrik was right, acceptance does bring you happiness”.

From a person formed by hatred, acceptance made the protagonist a man loved by all. It does not matter if you accept yourself or other people, it ultimately brings happiness to your life. Like the protagonist of this story we should seek happiness with the help of acceptance. And be a person loved by all. We should respect everyone no matter their skin, color or ethnicity. We should accept all as it is the only key to happiness.

- Sauharda Bajracharya - 26010, ... 23 August, 2023

Acceptance
- Sakshyam Karna - 26013, Grade ... 22 August, 2023

In the vast expanse of Grand City, a young high school student named Ethan found himself engulfed in the chaos of his own expectations. He was consumed by a relentless pursuit of perfection, believing that love and acceptance could only be earned through achievements and conformity.

He previously used to be an empathetic person, one that befriended everyone and cared too much. He got more and more happiness through interactions with others. The relations he had made became a constant reminder of the unconditional love and acceptance he sought. But when he saw that people valued those who had something to offer more than they valued him even though he would do everything he could for his friends. He realized that what he could do was not enough. So he slowly tried to get better at new things to gain affection from others and at the start it seemed to be working. He was being appreciated more and gained more affection by others.

Because of this Ethan's relentless pursuit of perfection continued to cloud his judgment. But slowly he started neglecting those who were close to him and those he held dear, focusing solely on his own ambitions to be the perfect being admired by everyone. His obsession with perfection and success blinded him to the importance of human connection and the value of genuine acceptance.

As the months passed, Ethan's neglect had unintended consequences. His friendships grew distant, and he found himself alone, slowly everyone was leaving him and in the end he was alone with no one by his side. The realization of his mistakes hit him like a tidal wave, and he was overwhelmed by regret and a deep sense of loss.

In his solitude, Ethan turned to his neglected passion for painting. He poured his heart and soul onto the canvas, using each brushstroke to express his pain and longing for the connections he had forsaken. Through his artwork, he began to understand the importance of self-acceptance and the significance of accepting others. But the consequences of his actions couldn't be undone. As Ethan desperately sought to repair his fractured relationships, he discovered that some bridges had been irreparably burned. The friends he had neglected had moved on, hurt and scarred by his actions.

In the face of his losses, Ethan learned the true value of acceptance. It wasn't a prize to be won through achievements or a commodity to be bartered. Acceptance began with self-reflection, acknowledging one's flaws and shortcomings. It required humility, forgiveness, and the courage to mend broken bonds. Through the pain of his mistakes, Ethan understood that acceptance wasn't just about being loved and respected, it was about extending love and respect to others, even when they had been hurt. It was about learning from one's failures and striving to be better, even if the wounds of the past couldn't be fully healed.

As he walked the city streets alone, Ethan became an observer of life. He witnessed the interconnectedness of humanity, the struggles and triumphs of individuals battling their own demons. He offered a sympathetic smile to those he encountered, a silent acknowledgment that they, too, carried burdens and sought acceptance. Though Ethan couldn't rewrite his past, he used the lessons he had learned to advocate for acceptance within his community. He joined volunteer organizations, supporting those who had experienced loss or felt forgotten. In each act of kindness, he found solace and a small glimmer of redemption.

The story of Ethan and Shadow serves as a cautionary tale, a reminder that acceptance cannot be forced or bought. It is earned through compassion, understanding, and genuine connection. Through loss and mistakes, Ethan discovered the fragility of human relationships and the necessity of acceptance. And while his journey didn't end in happiness, it concluded with a bittersweet wisdom that acceptance is a journey filled with both joy and heartache, but it is ultimately a path worth treading.

- Parisa Nepal - 27033, Grade I ... 22 August, 2023
