Come on get up,
Chase your dreams and learn to stand up;
Don’t let anyone scatter you away from inside,
Instead, you learn to stand up for your dying soul.
Come on wake up,
Learn to shine like the sun;
Be furious to achieve your aim,
And discover your hidden personality.
Be tactful not moron,
I want you to be an example;
So that you teach me,
And I could teach you.
Let’s be a part of this race,
Where I do mistakes-
And you erase my mistakes,
Or I erase your mistakes.
Don’t worry about you,
Cause you are me,
And I am you,
In fact I am your soul,
And you are my lazy body.
On 25th of April, 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. The earthquake struck central Nepal. More than 8,000 people died and about 17,000 were injured. The earthquake was caused due to the movement of tectonic plates releasing built up strain energy, in the form of seismic waves. As Kathmandu is located right on top of the fault line between the plates, Kathmandu suffered most of the damages from this earthquake. About 75% of the buildings were destroyed leaving lots of Nepalese homeless. There were several aftershocks on the 26th of April and also on the 12th of May. According to the Red Cross, about 800,000 homes were destroyed. Many temples and historic monuments were destroyed which caused a long term effect on the tourism industry like Dharara, two temples in Patan Durbar Square, and many monuments were destroyed. The aftershock also caused many landslides and triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest.
The Gorkha earthquake caused a drastic impact on the economy of Nepal. At that time, the GDP of Nepal was only $20 billion and the estimated cost of damage was $10 billion which means Nepal had to depend on foreign aid to rebuild the economy. Due to the earthquake many industries, and offices were closed which also affected the economy. The tourism industry got affected the most as many historical sites were destroyed and many tourists were injured and some even died. Many people lost everything and suffered poverty. Many hospitals were destroyed leaving many injured people struggling to survive and lots of people couldn't get medical treatment.
During the time of the earthquake, people had to live in tents and had to eat junk food. Many people slept on the street as there were no other places to stay. During that time some people struggled to survive as the price of junk food was very high and there were no other ways to cook food. Robbers and human traffickers took advantage of the situation. The most affected were people from poor communities who lost their homes. The earthquake had many impacts on the environment. Many forests and farmlands were destroyed due to the earthquake. Many roads were cracked and destroyed due to which many areas were unable to get the help they needed.
About 90% soldiers from the Nepalese army were sent to the destroyed places and conducted rescue operations under the name Sankat Mochan. The soldiers saved many people who were stuck under destroyed buildings. Many other countries also helped Nepal to overcome the situation. Uk provided £33 million in aid which helped in buying food, water, shelter and medical supplies. Japan sent a search and rescue team and India provided 50 tons of water and medical supplies. Many rural areas were unreachable due to the condition of the road and had to use helicopters to reach there. The Red Cross provided 8000 volunteers to help rebuild homes and tents for people. Many Nepalese people restrained themselves as builders and helped in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure. UNICEF worked with the government to help people in rural areas and provided resources.

Fighting my demons: a daily routine-
It started at twelve, and now I’m eighteen.
I tried to keep it to myself and succeeded-
For I lived afraid of being judged when seen.
I searched for an idol, an inspirator,
Hoping to be free of the dispute in my mind’s equator.
Instead, all I found was a dark empty space,
The further I went in, it seemed to be greater.
But I kept going forward hoping to see the light,
Reflecting on and regretting my past actions and the meaningless fights-
I had with myself trying to live up to expectations.
Only to find out, all I’m trying to do is make it past the night.
It didn’t help me, I mean my anxiety.
It only made it worse, and I kept on enduring quietly.
Started to think I was delusional and lost-
Because I never really experienced the true meaning of satiety.
Oh, I guess I deviated
Almost to talk about finding my idol,
But then my thoughts were mediated-
By doubts, about being judged by the people reading this;
That they’ll see my true self
And then they’ll grow to hate it.
Continuing back in the darkness deep-
In my mind I find a mirror, staring right back at me.
There it was, the truth, that-
Whoever it was that I hoped to be,
In the end it seems that
It was always me…
I remember that day, that particular color-
But my mind is fuzzy now, don’t know for sure;
I believe ’twas maroon, but deeper it was,
I believe ’twas navy, but colder it was;
I still ponder, if I was underwater…
I ask myself, I ask myself, myself I ask again;
I believe ’twas yellow, yet warmer the feeling,
I believe ’twas red, yet horrifying it was;
I miss that feeling, my lord i wish,
Insecure I am; and I still remember;
I believe ’twas gray, lonelier it was as much
I believe ’twas white, happier it was as much.
Was I dreaming or was it lucid?
The reality haunts me now; I don’t know;
I believe was celeste, heavenly I assume,
I believe was emerald, noble I assume,
Believing isn’t enough, I must feel it again,
Dark as black or transparent as white,
Pale as gray and I don’t care if ’twas as sweet as pink-
A particular color, perfection it was.
As far as it flexes, or as straight as a stick,
Perfection it achieved, yet I can’t remember;
I want it back, can’t I have it? I need some answers,
I want it back for you, that particular color;
I want it back for you, that particular color.
Professional athletes dedicate their entire lives to train themselves in order to excel. All day long, professional athletes put their respective sports into continual practices. They put in tremendous loads of work and attention on a professional level.
However, it is quite distressing to see how athletes are currently faring in Nepal. Their monthly income, which is likewise on a professional level, is only about rs 30000. First or second division athletes do not even come close to collecting that much money. Professional athletes must train, maintain their physical condition, be physically fit, and have quick reactions. Therefore, they must train themselves throughout the year to maintain their physical fitness. Additionally, their food is crucial for building their strength and physique. They don't even get enough to cover all of their fundamental demands amidst the contemporary society's ever-increasing energy crisis. Observing nations like the United States and Australia, who provide their professional athletes with a significant salary which could ultimately be seen as the reward for all of their effort and hard work. But, given the government's disregard for this sector, the likelihood of pursuing a career as a professional athlete in Nepal is so remote that many people have even quit their jobs and switched to other professions. Without a doubt, the payment they receive is insufficient to satisfy their drives for success and their devotions to uphold Nepal's national honour. The Nepalese women's team won the Saff U-19 Cup and was given a gift from the government worth 5 lakh as a result of recent occurrences. Can we honestly believe that the nation's young ladies, who gave it their all on the field and gave their lives to achieve this, should only be compensated with 5 lakh for such an amazing feat? Even the government-provided gear is not durable enough for the athletes. The majority of the equipment is outdated, worn out, or exhausted. The management needs to be among the most significant factors in the problematic state of sports in Nepal. The national sports council has been given a budget of NRS 2.9 billion by the Nepalese government, but each year this money is only used to fund the management's personal luxuries and way of life, which is one of the reasons thousands of athletes give up their careers in sports. Sandip Lamichhane, the captain of the Nepali cricket team and one of the country's most well-known athletes, trained and practiced in Australia. We can therefore draw the conclusion that Nepal's current sports and athlete growth situation is very poor and that it can only be improved through government-wide efforts and public pressure.
Linux is an open source operating system (or kernel), just like Windows and macOS (formerly OS X). One of the most well-known examples of open source, free software is Linux. In actuality, Linux powers one of the most widely used mobile platforms, Android. An operating system is a piece of software that controls the hardware and resources of a computer system, including the Central Processing Unit (CPU), memory, and storage. The operating system, to put it simply, controls how software and hardware communicate. A computer cannot operate without an operating system.
Linus Torvalds initially released the Unix-like operating system Linux available as a free and open source replacement for Minix, another Unix clone that was mainly applied in academic environments on September 17, 1991. Under the terms of the GNU General Public License, the source code may be altered and made available to anyone for commercial or noncommercial purposes. At the beginning, Linus thought about calling it "Freax". Linux was initially created for personal computers based on the Intel x86 architecture and was intended to be similar to the UNIX operating system. Due to compatibility issues, only a limited number of devices were initially supported and were able to run Linux, but as time went on, several contributions helped Linux develop. Due to its open source code, Linux has now been ported to more platforms than any other operating system existed till now.
Linux is one of the most secure operating systems. It has good hardware and software compatibility. Because of the freedom to do anything like modify the source code as our need, customization, and many more, Linux is being used in a wide area of technology. Knowingly or unknowingly, we have already used Linux because of the fact that more than ninety six percent of servers around the world run Linux which means there is a high chance that the website we visited on the internet is powered by servers running Linux. It is widely regarded as the backbone of the internet. Out of the top five hundred supercomputers, all of them are powered by the Linux operating system. Nowadays, many embedded systems like routers, televisions, smart watches, etc run on Linux. Linux is also used by every major space program in the world, including NASA and the ESA because of the stability and efficiency that it provides. Linux is also popular because of its mascot, Tux which is a penguin. Linus chose a penguin as the mascot because he was bitten by a penguin on his visit to a zoo.
Linux is an open source meaning it is a community driven project. Contributors from all over the world are contributing to Linux in different ways like contributing their codes, promoting Linux, donating the project, and so on. There are more than fourteen thousand Linux contributors who have contributed their codes. New codes contributed by the contributors will be added to the next version and made available with Linux if it is accepted as a universal improvement. Many big tech giants are also contributing to Linux actively.
Linux is a free and open source community driven operating system which can do anything that a Windows operating system or any other operating system can do but with the extra benefit of freedom to do anything and also with the added benefit of privacy, all without costing a cent.
