- Shreejan Ghimire - 24038, Gra ... 23 January, 2023

Northern Lights: Aurora Borealis
- Utsav Gautam - 23048, Grade X ... 23 January, 2023

The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are beautiful dancing waves of light
that have captivated people for millennia. But for all its beauty, this spectacular
light show is a rather violent event. The following image shows the phenomenon:

The northern lights are atmospheric phenomena that are regarded as the Holy
Grail of skywatching.

How does it happen?
Huge clouds of electrically charged particles are released by solar storms on the
surface of our star. Some of these particles may eventually collide with the Earth
after traveling millions of miles.

The majority of these particles are diverted, but some are caught in the magnetic
field of the Earth and these accelerate towards the north and south poles and into the
atmosphere. The magnetic poles are where aurora activity is concentrated because
of this.

Astronomer Tom Kerss of the Royal Observatory explains that when these
particles collide with atoms and molecules in the atmosphere of earth, they
effectively heat them up.

Difference in colours:
Different atoms found in the atmosphere of earth, such as oxygen and nitrogen are what give the Northern Lights their vibrant colours. At various atmospheric levels, these atoms are energized. Green is the Northern Lights' most frequent colour. When millions of oxygen atoms in the Earth’s atmosphere are simultaneously struck by the solar wind, the oxygen atoms are briefly excited before returning to their original state and emitting the green colour that is visible from the ground.

Oxygen atoms are also responsible for the occasional red light we see. These particles are high up in the atmosphere and are subject to a lower energy red light emission. The colour red is always there, but we don’t always see it because our eyes are five times less sensitive to red light than green.

Most of the earth's atmosphere is composed of nitrogen. Particles from the solar wind have to hit much harder to excite the nitrogen atoms. As nitrogen atoms begin to decompose, they emit violet lights. This is a rare colour and usually only occurs especially during active viewing.

Where does this happen?
When the electron solar wind reaches a planet, it first encounters the earth's magnetic field; this magnetic field deflects electrons. This deflection causes the electrons to move around the planet and strike near the polar regions where the magnetic field is the weakest. This is how daytime
auroras occur when electrons collide with the magnetic field facing the sun and are
deflected towards the poles.

But the solar wind doesn’t stop when it first hits the planet. It continues to move away from the sun to the other side of the earth, reaching the other side of our magnetic field; when they collide with the backside of the earth's magnetic field, the electrons are drawn towards the poles again, creating nighttime auroras.

- Arpan Acharya - 23010, Grade ... 20 January, 2023

YouTube and it’s Influence on People
- Bidhan Sen Oli - 24015, Grade ... 20 January, 2023

YouTube is a platform for sharing videos and people’s creativity, ideas, and other creations. YouTube is a wonderful invention. Whether you are a YouTuber or just a viewer, it gives people the opportunity to film their lives or what they actually enjoy and share it with the world. They may create movies about food or exercise, a daily blog, or even humorous challenges to provide people with content to watch when they are bored. Anyone can watch humorous movies or ones that advise them on how to accomplish something, which will help them develop useful life skills. There are billions of users of the app, and every day, billions of users upload videos.
Even businesses may use YouTube to increase their fan base and gain support from thousands of people before they even launch. Being a YouTuber can offer teenagers the self-assurance they need to succeed in the job market, can motivate millions to pursue their passions, and can look good on resumes, which can help them land jobs. Having "YouTuber" on your resume can demonstrate your reliability, self-assurance, and creative talent. While there are obvious and serious risks associated with unrestricted and unsupervised access to YouTube, the website also provides a number of advantages. First and foremost, there are countless hours of enjoyable, age-appropriate, and free content available for kids. Another fantastic source for self-taught skills is YouTube. You may learn how to cook, work out, fix things around the house, craft, dance, and more using the website's countless how-to and educational resources. On YouTube, educational and learning-related content receives 500 million daily views, and one million learning videos are shared every day. The engaging aspect of the educational information available on YouTube is one of its strengths.
I want to also talk about how the majority of the youngsters think about becoming "YouTubers" as a career when they grow up. I'm not saying it's a bad thing; I don't mean to disencourage anyone regarding that, but an unnecessary amount of youngsters think becoming a YouTuber is a very easy and common thing to do. Even though there are millions of successful people who have pursued their full-time jobs as youtubers, I look up to many of them as they are amazing people, and the inspiration they provide doesn't only include me but also millions of others. This instills in the younger generation of kids and teens the belief that anyone can succeed on YouTube, and they are already convinced that they, too, want to pursue future careers as YouTubers. While many people might really have true passion and desire for it and even put up with the hard work that all the other successful creators have put in, it's not true for all of them. especially the very young kids of our generation. They have access to things like the internet and devices from a very young age, and due to this, they already have knowledge about many more modern things than we could ever have at our age. I'm not saying that we ourselves are mature enough to be known as adults, but the difference can definitely be seen in the development gap and the generation gap itself.
Though we're exposed to countless videos, there's no assurance that the information handed out on the channel is true. There's no assurance that the person who's tutoring in the videotape is an expert. It also doesn't ensure that you'll get a grasp on what's conveyed to you through the media. Some things are better learned at the training center than from a YouTube channel. This goes along with learning exercises or yoga. You don't know if the person who's tutoring you is an expert or not in that field. Any misinformation or bad conduct can lead to health issues later. People are spending more time with their eyes fused to screens as YouTube's fashionability grows. Too much screen time negatively impacts your vision. It can cause back pain and neck pain. Though YouTube has created jobs for numerous people, it has also taken away from their effectiveness and productivity. Numerous streaming services similar to Netflix, YouTube, and other types of mobile games, apps, and streaming services have led to a reduction in productivity. There's no supervision of the content that's presented on the YouTube channel. It's causing a negative impact on children as well as teenagers.
Everyone has their own particular opinion about how they perceive YouTube. To some, it's a great place to watch innumerable videos on a variety of subjects and embrace media influence. To others, it's a platform that needs to be supervised and regulated by a centralized authority to maintain it. It's important for people to understand the manner in which media is impacted by YouTube. They should make wise and progressive choices to partake in what they see or learn on YouTube channels. As a result, depending on how people use YouTube, it can have both positive and negative effects on them.

- Yojana Gautam - 23068, Grade ... 18 January, 2023

The Red Thread of Fate
- Salon Rai - 24069, Grade XI o ... 18 January, 2023

"The Red Thread of Fate" is a belief that is popular in Japan and China, and it is similar to the idea of a soulmate or twin flame that we have. It is mostly famous among the youngsters and teenagers of those countries. According to the myth, everyone’s pinky finger is tied to an invisible red thread at one end, and the other end is tied to another person’s pinky finger, with whom the person will make history. Human relations, according to the Japanese, are represented by a red thread by the gods in the pinky fingers of those who are meant to find each other in their lives, whether they are near or far from each other.Legend has it that the persons who are connected by the "red thread of fate" will have a very important story to tell about their lives, whatever the time, place, or circumstances. The red thread of fate may get tangled, contracted, or stretched, but even in all these conditions, the thread cannot be broken or cut.
The reason we also make pinky promises is because the ulnar artery connects the heart with the pinky finger. The thin vein running from heart to hand exists in an invisible world just to end up in someone else’s heart. But unlike many other superstitions, the Japanese one isn’t limited to couples or a single person that one is destined to find. It speaks of a branched structure that emerges from the finger and extends towards all those with whom we will make history or help them in one way or another. The myth of the red thread is to understand that the meeting of each person in our life is predetermined and holds a place in our life with a lesson to be taught; the story we crisscross with others is neither triumph nor accident, but those are the parts of a scarlet thread we are given when we are born and that we nit ourselves.
According to Chinese legend, the deity in charge of "the red thread" is believed to be Yuè Xià Lorén, often abbreviated to Yuè Lo, the old lunar matchmaker god, who is in charge of marriages. In the original Chinese myth, it is tied around both parties' ankles, while in Japanese culture, it is bound from a male's thumb to a female's little finger. Although it is common in both of these cultures to depict the thread being tied around the fingers, particularly the little finger. The color red in Chinese culture shows happiness, and it is also prominently featured during Chinese weddings.
One story featuring the "red thread of fate" involves a girl who has a crush on a boy and decides to declare her love for him. Unfortunately, the boy rejects her and makes fun of her. The girl runs off to a fountain where she meets Yue Lao, who tells her they are soul mates. The girl is still fuming and runs off. When the girl becomes a lady, she meets a young man who seems very charming and, in other words, familiar to her. She then asks the man for his name, and he says the name of the young boy. The lady doesn't seem to notice, and then on their special day, he tells her that a girl liked him, but he was foolish and mocked her for it; he then exclaims that the girl had the same name as her.Realizing who he was, she admits she was the girl, and he eventually apologizes.

THE JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE
- Subham Chapagain - 23069, Gra ... 17 January, 2023

In 1609, Galileo pointed one of the first telescopes ever built at the heavens, and what he observed sparked a revolution of curiosity that has been at the center of every human generation since. The mysteries of the universe were limitless, and the journey to discover them had only just begun. More than 400 years later, our obsession with the mystery that is the universe has only intensified, fueling many great technological advances that make our ever-expanding universe seem smaller and its borders closer than ever. On December 25, 2021, NASA launched humanity's most powerful telescope to date. The James Webb Space Telescope, or JWST for short, was designed to peer more than 13.5 billion years into the past to study the most distant and oldest regions of the universe and to provide a glimpse back into the early days of the universe. Hubble has brought us images of galaxies we didn't know existed, star clusters, and nebulae we've never seen before. These images helped illustrate how, in the early days of our universe, just millions of years after the Big Bang, swirling, merging galaxies teeming with stars developed from cool clouds of gas and dust. The Hubble telescope is only able to see light in the visible spectrum, which means it has a limited amount of information it can get about these oldest galaxies. But with Webb, we finally have a chance to observe them. After a successful launch of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope on Dec. 25 and the completion of two mid-course correction maneuvers, the Webb team has analyzed its initial trajectory and determined the observatory should have enough propellant to allow support of science operations in orbit for significantly longer than a 10-year science lifetime. When Galileo raised his telescope to the sky and looked at the craters on the moon, he was acting on an almost instinctive human curiosity that has accompanied us since the dawn of time. More than 400 years later, the same curiosity brings us even closer to our cosmic background. Earth is only a small stage in the cosmic arena, and with the dawn of a new era of space exploration, we know this more than ever. There is no doubt that in the coming years, Webb will bring the universe even closer to us and help us learn more about the reality of our cosmic existence.

- Yojana Gautam - 23068, Grade ... 16 January, 2023

Cricket's Way Ahead
- Pranjal Khatiwada - 23030, Gr ... 13 January, 2023

Cricket is a popular sport that has a rich history and a dedicated global fanbase. In recent years, the sport has seen a surge in popularity, particularly in countries such as India and Australia, where it is considered to be the national sport. However, like all sports, cricket faces challenges and uncertainties in the future. And there are some potential threats and opportunities that cricket may face in the coming years.
One of the biggest challenges that cricket faces is the growing popularity of other sports, particularly in the digital age. In recent years, sports such as soccer, basketball, and American football have become more popular, especially among younger audiences. This trend could potentially lead to a decline in the popularity of cricket, as it may struggle to compete with these more modern and high-profile sports. Another potential threat to cricket's future is the issue of corruption. In recent years, there have been several high-profile scandals involving corruption in cricket, including match-fixing and illegal betting. This has tarnished the reputation of the sport and has led to a loss of trust among fans. If these issues are not adequately addressed, it could lead to a decline in the popularity and support for cricket. On the other hand, cricket also has several opportunities for growth and expansion in the future. One of the biggest opportunities for cricket is the increasing popularity of Twenty20 (T20) cricket, which is a shorter and more exciting format of the game. This format has proven to be popular among fans and has attracted new audiences to the sport. Additionally, the rise of online streaming platforms has made it easier for fans to access cricket matches, which has helped to increase the global reach of the sport. In conclusion, the future of cricket is uncertain and faces both challenges and opportunities. The growing popularity of other sports and the issue of corruption could potentially harm the sport, but the rise of T20 cricket and the accessibility of online streaming could help to boost its popularity. Only time will tell what the future holds for cricket, but it is clear that it will continue to be a beloved and exciting sport for many fans around the world.
