- Sakshyam Karna - 26013, Grade ... 22 May, 2023

Impact Of Electronics In Our Life
- Ashish Dahal - 27004, Grade I ... 22 May, 2023

In this modern world, I doubt there is someone who doesn't use a mobile or laptop or device of any kind. Even people from rural areas use it to some extent. We humans are so into our devices that sometimes we forget we even have a life beyond them. Young children cry and throw tantrums to use the electronic devices. As per research 29% of kids use electronic devices and 70% of them master them by the time of their primary school age. It has led us to many health issues like headaches, anxiety, stress and many more. If we try to get away from our device for even an hour or so we can't because we are attached to it like ducklings are attached to their mother.

Our ancestors 100 to 150 years ago would not even have thought that humans could be so advanced in 10 years. Although they are very dangerous, they have made our life easier. Nowadays we don't even have to do most of the things by ourselves. If we need to toast bread there is a toaster, if we need entertainment there is internet and tv. If we have to talk to someone far away, or in another region we can. We can read countless articles and books and we can store and download millions of things. There are countless uses of these devices although they are harmful for us. It is all because we do not know how to regulate ourselves. We rely too much on these devices, although they were designed for the purpose of making our lives easier, we have used it to such an extent that they are now making us lazier.

Thinking about the future there may be countless problems we might have to face because of these devices. On average every 18 months 100 - 120 million mobile phones end up in trash. Those phones have too much plastic, the displays include mercury which is one of the most harmful chemicals to humankind. By not managing the devices properly many houses have been burnt. The entire ocean has been infected and the ecosystem that was very peaceful has been harmed. However, at the end of the day, it all depends on the users. If a user can do their work and use their devices sparingly then nothing bad would happen. Human beings are known to overly exert any facility given to them but it is also high time that people become aware, use their conscience and act accordingly if we are to avoid any further issues.

Indigenous Injustice: A Violation of Basic Human Rights
- Manaswi Sapkota - 26004, Grad ... 19 May, 2023

Indigenous injustice, something that is experienced by a whole bunch of people from different indigenous communities. Understanding what indigenous injustice is isn’t hard, it is simply indigenous people being treated unjustly. The reasoning behind these injustices is what's hard to grasp.

Indigenous injustice is one of the major reasons for landlessness and poverty among people. Many indigenous people have been evicted from their original lands and have been relocated to less productive land. This has been hurting these people because they have to abandon their traditional way of living causing them to face malnourishment and poverty. In fact, the 15% of extremely poor people in the world consists of indigenous people. Due to this reason they are also the targets of unemployment, and are stripped of their basic human rights such as healthcare, education, etc.

Indigenous people also face a lot of social injustice as they are often discriminated against and ostracized. Their passports are often held by the authorities over small easily solvable issues, this generally goes against their human rights. Indigenous women are also more likely to die during childbirth due to lack of proper and safe healthcare. Similarly, indigenous children are also deprived of education leading to high illiteracy rates. Even when they do receive education they are often discriminated against at school, especially by their peers mostly due to their clothing, food and tradition.

The major reason for the occurrence of these injustices is due to the lack of enforcement of laws designed to protect indigenous people. In many countries there are no laws to begin with but even in places that do have laws, they are often not enforced properly leading to indigenous people being beaten and mistreated on a regular basis. An example of shaky law is the case of Colten Boushie, an indigenous man killed by a white farmer at the age of 22 under the guise of self defense. This case had evidence tampered with hence leading to the farmer being free while Colten’s family begged for justice. This is a classic case of law not doing its work.

Even though laws and regulations exist, the government itself refuses to enforce them leading to terrible consequences for the indigenous people. How, you could ask, for example big mining corporations work on indigenous lands without permission and simply disregard any sort of protest even going as far as to bribe people to keep their mouths shut. A case related to this is the one of Máxima Acuña Atalaya, a farmer in Peru who stood up against a big mining company and she was taken to court for it. Eventually the charges against Máxima were dropped due to insufficient reasonings and such. She was mentally pressured by the company and the law failed to protect her from this harm. These mining cases are often overlooked as they evidently help the country economically but they affect the indigenous community terribly.

In conclusion, indigenous injustice is a prevalent issue around the world affecting millions of people on a daily basis. To resolve this issue, it is important that we understand the major issues and work together as a society to fix it. We need to make sure laws are enforced and everyone feels protected and safe. Of course it is not possible to completely change everyone’s views but it is possible to make a change, so we should at least try.

- Rushina Tamang - 26008, Grade ... 18 May, 2023

Is Being Famous Actually Worth It?
- Aakanchhya Khadka - 27001, Gr ... 18 May, 2023

When I was a child my aim was to be a rich and famous singer. There are many people out there who have dreamed of being influential personalities and celebrities as well. Of course being famous gives you all the fame, recognition and ,you can make a huge career in this busy world, create connections with people and become an inspiration to many. It is the life many people have always dreamt of but people who have this dream life have been seen usually  indirectly or directly not happy with it. But the question is, why do many of us don't understand that the life we have is good and satisfying? Everything that has advantages also has a disadvantage. What might seem on the outside can always  not be true.

When you get famous every activity one does becomes a headline, every step you take people are flocking over to see what you have done. Your tiniest of errors can create an unimaginable effect on your life along with your career. We have to try hard to please people - the ones that we do not even know of. You become a people pleaser, someone who has to be perfect at all times. It  is an invisible yet a heavy role we must fulfill no matter what. Not only us but our friends and family all get affected by it. When we become famous there are not only fans who support us but also haters who are trying their best to see our downfall. People can become envious of us and create troubles even when it’s not our fault. The amount of hate they receive can create identity crisis and
mental health issues.

It is everyone's right to privacy. Even though they are celebrities they are still human at the end of the day they must be given their privacy but once you get famous you are recognized instantly by everyone and getting privacy and personal space becomes much more difficult. Many celebrities have reported being flocked by paparazzi and invading their personal space. The modern era we live in is even more dangerous for famous people. There are people with loads of time on their hands who want to know everything about us from the past to present. They tend to dig up a lot of information, some are embarrassing, some private and others are things we would like to leave behind in the past.

Sometime after you become famous overnight, maintaining it can become even more of a problem. Sachin Pariyar became famous overnight at a small age for saying a line. He was casted in many music videos but later he was found again in Tanahun wounded and asking for help. On January 15, 2023 a plane flying over to Pokhara from Kathmandu containing 72 people had crashed in the time of such an accident where help was needed the most people were staying on live on various social media platforms to earn views. A devastating incident takes place and instead of placing humanity above, we place our own selfish needs ahead. This is only an example. There are many events like this where people are trying to be famous filming horrible incidents . People are going to unimaginable extent to become famous but is being famous actually worth it? Many famous personalities have talked about having various problems that came along with fame but  it has been portrayed that if you become famous you can be happy and fulfill your dreams and the cycle of delusion continues where everyone thinks being famous is the best thing that can happen to an individual. But ask yourself, “Is it actually worth it?”

Corruption
- Aavash Malla - 26001, Grade X ... 17 May, 2023

Throughout history, corruption has been a problem that has affected nations at all stages of development. It is an issue that has a negative impact on the lives of regular people and harms freedom, economic prosperity, and social fairness. Theft, and nepotism are just a few of the various ways that corruption spreads. Politicians, government employees, businesses, and regular people may all be a part of it in both the public and private sectors. Corruption is fundamentally the misuse of authority for one's own benefit. It happens when those responsible with managing public resources use their power for their own advantage rather than that of the public they are supposed to represent. From small-scale corruption and nepotism to large-scale corruption and money laundering, corruption may take many different shapes. It is a complicated issue that calls for a comprehensive approach that involves legal, institutional, and societal reforms. Corruption has severe and negative impacts. By destroying the public's trust in governmental institutions, it reduces democracy and may even cause people to lose faith in the democratic process itself. Because it encourages an environment of criminality and reduces the motivation for investors, corruption has an adverse impact on economic growth as well. Also, because it increases inequality and gives those in positions of power and wealth the opportunity to take advantage of the system.

Corruption must be addressed through an extensive method. Changes to the laws and organizations are part of this effort to increase accountability and transparency. In order to create an atmosphere of honesty where corruption is not tolerated and people are made responsible for their acts, social changes are also necessary. Leaders at all levels of government, civic society, and businesses must also be open to working together in order to tackle the root causes of corruption and put forward achievable solutions. In underdeveloped nations, where it may increase poverty, hamper economic progress, and sustain inequality, corruption has an especially negative impact. The social structure of societies is weakened by corruption, which also threatens public institutions and the people's faith in the government. Additionally, it affects resource distribution, making it challenging to provide necessities like infrastructure, healthcare, and education.Fighting corruption is a hard and endless effort. Legal frameworks, supervision procedures, and anti-corruption groups are just a few of the strategies that governments and international organizations have established to fight corruption. Although these actions have the potential to reduce corruption, they are frequently hampered by a lack of political will, a lack of funding, and opposition from those who stand to gain from it.
In conclusion, corruption is a significant issue that has an impact on people, societies, and countries all over the world. It reduces democracy, restricts economic growth, and interferes with human rights. In spite of the complicated and ongoing nature of the fight against corruption, it is essential to focus on what is driving it and involve any interested parties in the effort to create institutions that are more open and accountable.

Confidence
- Aayusi Shrestha - 26002, Grad ... 15 May, 2023

It was the summer of 2012. A 10 year girl named Suzan was with her friends who were constantly pointing out her insecurities. Everyone else was wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts except for her. “Why would she wear such clothes in such hot weather?” gossiped her friends. It was not just her friends. It was everyone else. Suzan was an outgoing and friendly girl but once she gained a little weight and would talk a lot so people always made her feel uncomfortable about herself. When she turned 10 she had a really low self esteem and was a silent kid who only had a few friends. She changed schools when she was 12 and she could not make any new friends as she was not outgoing anymore and had a hard time talking to people. Her parents always told her to be more confident but she just could not. She tried. She tried a lot. Despite the fact that she was trying she was still really insecure.

When she was at school and whenever she had to do presentations she would have a panic attack and her voice would tremble. The teachers at school would tell her to be confident and her classmates would laugh at her saying “How hard is it to just present?”. Soon after, the teacher started picking on her and forced her to talk more believing that she would get better but it made it worse. Suzan had developed social anxiety and poor mental health. She also was depressed and the only thing that helped her was music. The only escape from this world for her was listening to music. Suzan had started to hate everything about her and wanted to kill herself but no one knew. Not even her family. She would starve herself and over exercise to look like girls on the internet. She felt constantly criticized and judged by all.

When Susan turned 16 she forced herself to be more confident. She had achieved her dream body and she had expected her insecurities to fade away but it never did, she only got better at suppressing it. In college she had made more friends all thanks to her fake confidence. Suzan also would crave validation from others as she was unnoticed throughout her entire childhood for not being ‘pretty enough’ for others or herself. All changed when she was able to make true friends, the ones who did not judge her, loved and accepted her for who she was.  She eventually stopped trying so hard because she had changed her mindset. She had still not recovered from everything but she was trying to. Suzan stopped thinking about what others thought about her and started getting therapy. She was not that confident but she could talk to others freely and had started feeling comfortable with herself. She is now an influencer who influences people to embrace their flaws instead of hating them. We should all learn that not everyone is confident and it is not an easy thing to be confident for everyone. So stop giving unwanted advice to people who are insecure. There is a popular saying on the internet, “If you want to comment on someone's appearance and they can't fix it in ten seconds, don't do it.” I think all of us should keep this in mind before we say anything.
