About Literacy Day
- Albert Thapa - 23003, Grade ... 12 September, 2018

On September 7th 2018, Deerwalk Sifal School (DSS) organized the International Literacy Day program. We, the students, had a lot of fun along with reading that day. As every other usual day when I reached school, my friends were waiting for me. After greeting each other we directly went to our class. After 5 minutes bell rang and our class teacher Roma Ma’am entered the class and informed us about today’s program along with the name list of the students who were selected for the story telling. I was also one of the members and was very much excited to do the work. As soon as the bell rang, our Nepali Teacher arrived, and he allowed us to practice for the program. In the meantime, I and my friends discussed about what we could do in the program, and I showed them my work (I had made a drawing from our English reading book “The BFG” on the chart paper). My friends were amused to see my work and they complimented me too. I made our work easier because if I hadn’t done the work then we had to do both English and Nepali book drawing before the program, which was nearly impossible. As our work was reduced, we utilized our time in discussing about what to present in front of our parents, teachers and fellow students. We discussed about the program after having our lunch. Meanwhile, I suggested my friends to do really well in the program so that we could win. Then we decorated our chart paper with various colors and paintings. While we were remembering our line, we saw that the ‘Skit Group’ was also practicing “Profession of My Choice” where my friends were dressed in various attires that they want to become in future (Smriti as a doctor, Amita as a fashion designer and Angel as an air hostess). We had a lot of fun while practicing our work. Furthermore, I and my friends went to class 2A for the storytelling where we told them the story of the Wobbly Jellyfish. After the story completion I also asked them questions regarding the story, and they pretty much enjoyed while answering the questions. Finally after some time the exhibition started so without delaying I went to the exhibition area along with my friends. As BOOKLAND PUBLICATIONS had organized the “BOOK FAIR” at our school many parents were interested in books. After some time, my parents also came and listened to our presentation, and they were very much happy in the program. They also complimented me and my friends for our work. After the Literacy Day program was over there was a Teej Program which was especially organized for the ladies teachers and parents. We enjoyed a lot at the program. Deerwalk Sifal School (DSS) not only provides good education but also motivates the students to gain extra knowledge by organizing various different programs. After all, that is what matters in Deerwalk.

My experience on Inter-school Sanskrit Shlokas Recitation Competition
- Niharika Chapagain - 23031, G ... 08 September, 2018

There was an Inter-school Sanskrit Shlokas Recitation and Dance Competition at DAV school on August 29th.  While four of the participants including me from my school participated in the Sanskrit Slokas Recitation, the other three participated in ‘Sanskrit Dance Competition’. All of us had  practiced hard. On the competition day, I was very excited to perform. We all came early in the morning in the school to practice and were finally ready to go. I came to school at 7 AM. On our way a traffic police officer informed us that we could not go to DAV by road because BIMSTEC conference was held between the seven countries. So we could not help taking the other route. Finally we reached DAV school. It was very big. At the entry of the competition hall, organizers put our names under our school name. The hall was very big. There were about 19 competitors. The audience was fewer than I expected. Because of the BIMSTIC conference, many students of other schools had not arrived at the competition. We waited for them for some time. There were essay writing and Sanskrit speech competitions as well. All the competitions were performed at the same time but at different halls. All the competitors were excellent. After the competition was over we went to the canteen for the lunch. One thing I liked the most about DAV school was that they only allow vegetarian food in the school. After lunch time was over, it was the time of result. They announced the result of the Shlokas recitation at last. We did not secure any position but we were happy to know that the other team from my school stood second in the dance competition. Although our team did not win, we learnt so many things and we were happy.

My Experience on Inter School Sanskrit Shlokhs Competition
- Angel Dhimal - 23005, Grade ... 08 September, 2018

Today I was very excited because it was a very big day for me. Our school (Deerwalk Sifal School) took us to a grand competition.  At first there was a selection round in our school to decide who was going to take part in the competition. The competition was held at DAV school located at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. In the selection round, I, Jiya, Niharika and Pranjal were selected. We were feeling very happy. It was Wednesday. There was also a dance competition in which our school was participating. My friend Smriti and two sisters from grade 9 were selected in the dance competition.  Our respected teacher Tej Sir called us early in the morning that day. We practiced a lot and were ready. We reached DAV school at 9 AM. We were bit nervous but we were very happy. We knew that our Sanskrit teacher Mahadev Sir had also taught in that school. In the hall there were many school and gurukuls. There were many competitions but our school took part in Sanskrit Shlok and Dance. Our turn came in the 4th or 5th  round. There were many gurukuls who recited better than us. But we did not lose hope. After the competition was over we all went to have lunch. We all enjoyed the food and went to the Buddha Hall. It was very big. The announcement was made. In the dance competition, our school secured second position. And there were many announcements and lectures by many scholars. We enjoyed listening to them. And then there was an announcement of the Shlokas competition. We did not secure any position. All other gurukuls secured some positions.  But still we were all happy because we participated in the big competition. Then we all returned to our school. From the event, we learnt that we should always respect the Sanskrit language. We should all study Sanskrit.

My Experience on Janardhan Smriti Sanskrit Program
- Jiya Sapkota - 23026, Grade V ... 08 September, 2018

On 29th August, 2018 I went to DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary Boarding School Jawalakhel, Lalitpur for the Shlok recital competition. The event was called “Janardhan-Smriti- Sanskrit” Program. We five students from grade six, two students from grade nine and two teachers went to the program. I reached the school at 7:00 AM. At school, we practiced and watched dance and helped dance members to get in their getups. Then we drank hot tea with biscuits and I was the last to finish it. The day was quite mysterious. That day, only even number plate vehicles were allowed to run by the government due to BIMSTEC conference. So, we went to DAV in a Cab. At DAV there were many character trees placed in different places. My sister who studies there was also in one of the character trees.  A character tree was a tree with many photos on it with the names of the students. Only those students who have been good throughout the year are placed on the trees and they are awarded as well. We presented our performance. Then it was a lunch time. They said that 1500 students and 500 teachers in a day come and eat in the dining hall. Then we went to “Buddha Hall”- it was very big. Our teachers said we would leave by 11 AM but it got very late. We got bored for some time but when the time came for prize distribution we were little nervous. Our shlok group didn’t make it up to top four. We were sad but we didn’t blame each other. Then we came back to school at 3 PM while the program was still running as our teachers had meeting.
