Our Solar System
- Manaswi Sapkota - 2025008, Gr ... 15 October, 2020

The Solar System formed 4.6 billion years ago. Our solar system consists of the sun, planets, stars, satellites, asteroids, comets, dwarf planets, black holes, and so many more undiscovered things. During our virtual tour which was a replacement for a field trip because of the coronavirus, we learned about Our Solar System.

Our Sun is a huge ball of fire. It’s also known as the closest star to our planet. All the other planets roam around The Sun. The smallest planet in our solar system and nearest to the Sun, Mercury is only slightly larger than Earth's Moon. It takes 88 earth days to take a complete round of the Sun. The second planet in orbit is Venus. Similar in size and structure to Earth, Venus has been called Earth's twin. These are not identical twins, however, there are really fewer differences between the two planets. It takes 225 earth days to complete a round of the Sun.

Our home planet is the third planet from the Sun, and the only place we know of so far that’s inhabited by living things. It takes 365 days to complete a round of the Sun. The fourth planet from the Sun, Mars is a dusty, cold, desert world with a very thin atmosphere. It takes 687 earth days to complete a round of the Sun. Fifth from the Sun, Jupiter is, by far, the largest planet in the solar system. It’s a ringed planet. It takes 4,333 earth days to complete a round of earth.

Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second-largest planet in our solar system. It has a beautiful ring around it. It takes 10,759 earth days to complete a round of the Sun. Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. It’s known as the “sideways planet” because it rotates on its side. It takes 30,687 earth days to complete a round of the Sun. Our last planet is Neptune. It’s also a ringed planet. It’s one of the coldest planets and takes 60,190 days to complete a round of the Sun. There are 5 dwarf planets: Pluto, Ceres, Makemake, Haumea, and Eris.

Talking about moons in the solar system family, Earth has 1 moon, Mars has 2, Jupiter has 79, Saturn has 82, Uranus has 27, and Neptune has 14 moons. There are many more asteroids and comets in our Solar System which are yet undiscovered.

Lesson Learned From Flood
- Aakanchhya Khadka - 2026001, ... 13 October, 2020

Once upon a time, there was a small village in the south of Nepal, located in Kanchanrup in Saptari district called Bandra. It was a small village where very few people lived. In that small village, lived a boy named Ram. He helped everyone. He was helpful and kind. On the other hand, there was a boy called Prajwol. He was just the opposite of Ram. He only used to think about himself and never helped others, not even his mother. He did a lot of mischiefs all the time.

His mother had already given up hope and had stopped scolding Prajwol. Meanwhile, the villagers were often troubled by Prajwol’s behavior and attitude.  It was a monsoon season and the villagers were working in the field. It was raining very heavily and suddenly the Saptakoshi river rose high and there was a huge flood. It destroyed the farmers' hard work; their crops and their field. The fishermen came after a while on their boats and helped them rescue.

The Prajwol’s family was on a boat. There was hardly any space for Prajwol. He noticed a cat and a puppy and threw them in the water and managed a seat for himself. Then he realized, while throwing those poor animals he had thrown his favorite toy as well. He tried to get his toy back and fell off the boat. Prajwol’s mother started to scream and pleaded for help. Ram and his family were nearby. Ram saw Prajwol drowning and he dived to save him. He not only saved Prajwol but also the puppy and the cat. Ram also helped rescue teams to save other peoples’ lives. The rescue team later gave him a medal for his bravery. Seeing this Prajwol realized the value or virtue. Learning from Ram, Prajwol has also started to help others.

I hope you have also learned a lesson from this story and so have I!

The Brave Daughter
- Suphiyana Ghimire - 2026024, ... 12 October, 2020

Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a man and his daughter. He loved his daughter very much. Her name was Saroha. He let her do whatever a boy could do! He never regarded her as weak and was never biased with her gender. So, his daughter turned out to be as brave as the tiger and did not fear anything. She climbed trees, did adventurous things, and played with her friends all day long. One day, when she was going to call her friends, their mother scolded her and said, “Don’t you need to learn household works? You are not a boy so you cannot play day. Now go away and don’t spoil our daughter! I will not send my daughter with you to play. I don't want my daughter to be careless and spoiled at her husband's house later in life.”

That day she went back home and sadly she asked her father why girls cannot play and need to work but boys can do whatever they want to do. Her father said that it was more like a custom in the village that girls couldn’t play but boys could do whatever they wanted! Saroha thought of complaining about this to the Head of the village.

“Rest my child for today and tomorrow we will go together to complain”, said her father. The next day they went to the head of the village to complain. The head of the village called all the mothers of Saroha’s friends and asked what the matter was? Saroha’s father told the Head of the village what the problem was! Saroha’s friends’ mothers told the Head that if girls would not learn the household work then who will marry them later in life. The Head thought for a while and announced, “It's true if girls with not learn the household work then who would do it? Men certainly won’t do it!”

Although Saroha’s father was disappointed with the Head and his verdict he did not lose hope and taught Saroha whatever boys could learn. Thus she was smart, athletic, and more confident than the other village girls. A few months later, there was a big flood and everyone started to run away. The Head of the village was also going to his relative’s house when his little child got stuck in the rising water and started to cry. The head did not know how to swim and cried for help. No one helped him but at that time Saroha plunged into the water and saved the little kid. The Head of the village was shameful because he remembered his words to Saroha’s father. He learned his lesson and rewarded Saroha. He realized that girls when given opportunities are as smart and brave as boys.

Moral: Never judge a person by gender.

BTS
- Aayusi Shrestha - 2025002, Gr ... 08 October, 2020

BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) also known as the Bangtan Boys is a South Korean boy band. BTS began its formation in 2010 after Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk met with the group leader RM and was impressed with his rapping. The group consists of 7 members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. In the group, there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. BTS debuted with the song named ‘no more dream’, which peaked at number 124 in Korea before quickly falling off the charts. Their lyrics often are focused on the themes of mental health, troubles of school-age youth, individualism, loss, and the journey towards loving oneself. BTS taught people to love themselves. The group has released several albums and performed on several world tours. Wings became BTS's first album to sell one million copies in South Korea. By 2017, BTS had a total of 40 Daesangs (Grand Prize Awards), the most in South Korean history. BTS has added to its record of the most Daesangs in South Korean history. Fans of BTS are called “ARMY” which is an acronym for adorable. BTS's fans are more diverse culturally, ethnically, and generationally than those of any other boy bands that came before them.

In April 2018, BTS became only the third group in 50 years to have stayed in number three on the Billboard 200 charts, joining the ranks of The Beatles and The Monkees. BTS has become famous recently but before they were famous there were hundreds of hardships that these boys had gone through. They almost couldn’t debut because Big-Hit was in debt, going nearly bankrupt. All together for a while, the boys were accused of plagiarising concepts, and many fanbases of other idols/groups demanded recounts or they got disqualified. Most of the members had grown up in low-income families. They almost disbanded in 2014 because they were short of money. At that time, they never imagined they would achieve the height where they are now.

People nowadays also say that they put on makeup and stuff like that but many actors and singers use makeup. Anyone can wear makeup regardless of their gender. A few weeks back BTS released a new album named ‘Dynamite’ which has broken many records. BTS has taught us many things like Love yourself, speak yourself (“No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself). BTS has a total of about 136.4M fans. They're huge for a Korean boy band, but that's a lot coming from a band who doesn't sing in English.

Parallel Universe: Fact Or Fiction!
- Rushina Tamang - 2025014, Gra ... 01 October, 2020

It might not be true but, there could be unlimited versions of you. With that, what I am trying to say is suppose you are here and you are rich, there might be another version of you who might be poor, and there might be another version of you who might be a middle class in different universes. No, this is not about the past or future. All these versions of you are in the present time. You just aren’t aware of them. You might have the same face, the same family, but only your life will be a little different. For example, if you decide to color your hair here, in another realm, you might not decide to color your hair. And in another realm, you might not even think of coloring your hair. So, this is known as the existence in the parallel universe

Surprisingly, rumor has it that there had been a case of a man who visited Japan for the fourth time. He landed on the airport and everything was going fine until the airport security checked his passport. It stated he was a citizen of Taured. But there was no country called Taured. The police checked his passport and it showed that he had visited many countries and he said that he had come to Japan for a business meeting. He said he even had booked a hotel. He even showed the currency of Taured. And he tried to point out his country on a map. But he sat confused where his country was; unable to find it! The company he was talking about never knew him. And the hotel that he had booked was also never true. He was taken to a hotel and was kept on the top floor with security so that he couldn't escape. The concerned security personnel arrived there but when they opened the door there was no sign of him. And all his belongings had also disappeared. After that, no one ever saw him again!

In my opinion, parallel universes do exist. I think the point of the parallel universe is that we exist in different realms with the possibility that all the choices we come across take its shape one way or the other. I don’t think that parallel universes are fiction. I think parallel universes exist and that could be the reason why we have different choices.

Now, it's’ up to you to consider it a fact or a fiction.

 Education In Today’s Context
- Angel Dhimal - 2024004, Grade ... 29 September, 2020

Education plays an important role in our life. Everyone has the right to education and should be educated.  Education can change the life of a person and can make it better. There is a popular saying, “Education is the key to unlock freedom “. Well, this saying is true and it can relate to every successful person.

I am very sure that everyone is getting a proper education here in the city, but I am not so sure that everyone is getting a proper education in rural or urban areas. In Nepal, still in many places, there are no proper schools and education facilities. Still, in many places, there are no proper buildings and good teachers. Many students wish to study or get proper education but unfortunately, they are not getting this basic right. This has thus created illiteracy. Many people in villages or urban areas are not literate because they have no access to education.

Nowadays, we all know about the condition of the world. Schools are not open but still many schools are conducting online classes. When I was in my village, I also had online classes but I noticed other schools in the village didn’t conduct online classes. The teachers were also not really concerned about these problems, exams were also not conducted. Many students wanted to study but no one cared! After a long break, the school distributed books, and only for a week, they offered coaching classes. Many parents were worried about their children’s future. Some teachers wanted to conduct classes but then the students didn't turn up.

This is not just the case of my village but I am sure that in other villages as well the students, parents, or teachers are suffering from these problems. Not only during the lockdown but in normal situations as well the classes don’t run properly. However, I do not blame the teachers, I noticed they have done a lot for the students but I assume there are no strict rules in the school. The students are not properly aware of the importance of education.

If there is a problem there is a solution as well. We have to conduct various programs related to education, strict rules should be made for the students to join the school in the villages, and students must be told about the importance of education. Teachers, as well as parents, must also be concerned about the students' academics. I think some of these solutions might help the students to know the importance of education.

In conclusion, I would like to say that if you are getting a good education then appreciate it. Our teachers and parents are very much concerned about our studies. We must thank our teachers and parents that in this difficult situation our parents are supporting us and our teachers are doing everything they can. I would like to thank all the teachers for providing us knowledge in these difficult times.
