Small countries must be allowed to lead global affairs: An argument
- Shubhashish Uprety - 24040, G ... 03 August, 2022

The short answer for me is no, a BIG no. It is quite simple actually, but not that simple. We must go into the depths of why a country is small in the first place. I’m using the word small as a metaphor, small as in underdeveloped, even poor perhaps or maybe lined with political and economic instability. To go in-depth to the following topic, we must know why a country is small or underdeveloped
A country becomes poor and undeveloped not because of the availability of its resources or the climate, but its leadership, education, and political stability, this was one of the main summaries of the book, “Why Nations Fail” by James Robinson. Even a small nation like Botswana with less than 100 graduates at the time of its independence is one of the best countries for security, education, and modern infrastructural beauty right now. Botswana is one of the many examples of how nations DON’T fail and how to not become a “small” country. So, in conclusion, bad leadership causes a country to be “small”.
Okay, back to the topic, in my personal opinion, small countries should not be allowed to take the lead in global affairs. As listed in the conclusion of the above paragraph, we can’t allow those leaders who are CLEARLY inefficient and most possibly corrupt to be making major decisions in organizations or stages that resemble the ENTIRE Earth or anything resembling any form of global affairs. I do believe in the idea that some representatives of a small country are to be listed in making forward steps at the global level, but I hate the idea that the leader of a small country should have the power to lead at the global level.
For some real-life examples, we can’t make a dictator take the lead on global affairs, the last time that happened, I recall that 40-50 million people died for nothing. I call that a total “bruh” moment. Let’s take our own country as an example. Our government is struggling to manage our own country, if they were to be managing things on a global level, God knows what would happen. I believe that powerful, developed countries that are capable of managing things on a global scale should be leading in global affairs.
So, in conclusion, small countries should not be allowed to take the lead in global affairs, for the reasons I have listed above. I believe that Nepal also has huge potential to become a developed and secure country politically, economically, and environmentally. We must join hands in unity to make that happen.

Reality Check
- Meemansha Acharya - 23027, Gr ... 02 August, 2022

Let's perform a quick reality check. Would you agree if someone told you your work wasn't up to mark? Would you accept it and use it to better yourself? Or Be truly infuriated and enraged with that person?
Well, even though we know they are right, it is still very difficult for the majority of us to accept it posthumously. You will be negatively affected by other people's statements that you won't be able to truly accept them. Isn't it? Even if you show that you have accepted it, you will try to defend yourself in your mind despite working on it. Even if you were wrong, you would still attempt to project a confident, clean image of yourself in your head or in your imagination but not in reality. We mostly create the good image of ourself and our success in mind and evaluate ourself on the basis of it and feel good about how excellent we are but it is what we are in reality? Have you ever questioned yourself what exactly you are in real life? Even if somebody asks who you are, will you tell who actually you are in reality or who you are in the world you have created?

Our perceptions of who we are can differ from our actual selves. So, do we actually differ from how we present ourselves in real life? Yes, we may be. I've already mentioned how difficult it is to accept individuals for who they are. Like, one of my friends asked if her presentation was up to mark. She was very close to me. so, I decided to give her actual feedback. I therefore praised her work and pointed out a few areas where she could have done better. I was shocked to see that she was actually defending herself despite accepting it. This was the worst situation I have faced after telling the truth. From that day, I came to the conclusion that never ever give the person the actual feedback or never correct them if they are wrong if you want to be on good terms with them.

I used to, and still sometimes behave like that. If somebody points out any mistake in your work, it really hurts as you have worked so much in it and even harder to accept it and work on it. If somebody told me that the presentation done by you is not good and you have to improve a lot. Even though I know I have to work on it, in my mind I actually try to defend myself that it was good. So, I also have tried to escape from reality a lot but now I am working on it. Because now I have understood that if you get feedback that hurts you, you have to accept it. Because only a few people who really love you and care about you take the courage to give the actual feedback. Here, I don't intend to imply that we shouldn't envision ourselves as we would like to be. I do agree that your imaginations can become reality, but running away from reality won't make it happen; you must accept who you are and work on your reality to make our dreams come true.

- saki shrestha - 23051, Grade ... 01 August, 2022

The Key to Making a Difference
- Aswin Siwakoti - 23014, Grade ... 29 July, 2022

We are living in a world where everything is changing every second. There are people who are making things change by harvesting their knowledge in a certain field or even coming up with something creative which is unusually different for the people and this is what they call making a difference. We live a static life where everything is almost the same every day and we seem uninterested in the things we do. Main reason behind this is being similar everyday. And the one major hindrance that people are unable to harvest their knowledge is due to the system of society or what we can call this is a trend which is spreading to every youth and adults out there, where they call themself a “nobody” without even trying. This is where the idea of making a difference comes in, assuming yourself as somebody who can give something that the world always longs for.

Making a difference basically means doing something different than that of others or breaking a stereotype. We all in one way or another want to make a difference. And making a difference is not that easy. It requires a lot of time, going beyond what you are and what the world is, and will definitely take everything you hold in your power. The major and first thing to do if you want to make a difference is to start where you are currently and reflect on your actions, track your outcomes, and be determined on the next steps you are going to take in order to build a different self than yesterday. The next thing which is important in order to make a difference is to never stop asking questions whether it requires questioning yourself or others. Question yourself if you are seeing no changes in your life and seek answers to what is stopping you from being a different person? Making a difference while listening and reading seems way easier but implementing it to our livelihood is tough and hard, so believe in yourself and do what you feel is right because results are based on our level of preparation, not on our level of expectations.

- Raghav Vaidya - 24030, Grade ... 29 July, 2022
