He was regarded as one of the greats of the game
He still is, but the legacy is slowly fading away,
Scoring century after century was a fun game
But now, getting off the strike is considered his greatest gain.
Known for his fierce, never give up attitude
Known for his fights for his teammates
Known for his dominance across formats
But he is soft now, he is soft and his energy has drained.
He once used to make batting look easy
But now, scoring runs for him looks breezy,
Doesn’t looks like he still has got that hunger
When will he score his 71st, I wonder!
He was once a player whom everyone feared
He was once a player whom everyone cheered,
He still is celebrated for his achievements
But when will he begin his next chapter of achievance?
As a fan, this downfall was not in my darkest desires
The fear is there that he might retire,
For he is tired now, tired of playing the game
For that game which got him all his fame.
