Monday 11th Nov. we were taken to the education tour on Metropolitan Police Division. I totally forgot that we were going. So when I came to school I was shocked to know that we were going to the traffic police’s office. So, I went to school at the usual time Mazina ma'am took our attendance and we departed at 9:40 am. When we reached the destination we were taken to a room where the CC camera of the main roads was. There were more than 100 CC cameras. So we were shocked! The traffic police explained to us all the rules and showed us a video related to that. Then at 12:50, we arrived at school. It was a very fantastic and informative trip. The informative trip means that I know many traffic rules in Nepal. I know how accidents occur and what its measures to control it are. The major rules of traffic are to wear the seat belt while driving, to follow the traffic light, etc. I am so blessed that I know these rules of traffic in Nepal at this small age. I also knew what is the major punishment for not following the rules at the traffic. In this way, it was an interesting trip.
On 25th Kartik,2076 at 10:30 am we headed out from our school to Bhrikutimandap’s traffic police division for educational reasons and we were greeted by some of the respected police officers. Then we were given a brief explanation about what they did and then we were led to their control room where they are connected to the camera of certain areas within Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. Then we were led to the educational room where the people who had broken the law have to attend the class where they showed the consequences of breaking the law, later we were sent to a room where we saw a bunch of videos to teach us about the rules and regulations some of them were explained to us and some were shown to us in video which were: *Wear your seatbelt *Always use zebra crossing *Don’t drink and drive *Do not text nor call and drive So after all that we were led to another room with the students from another school and the officers told us about why they do what they do and some of the volunteers to give a speech and they told us about their experiences and told us about the respect we should give to the officers that protect us even in day and night. So after that, we got back on the bus and went to school after learning a lot.
Our school in collaboration with Metropolitan Police took the students of grade 8 and 9 In the metropolitan police office located at Ranipokhari, Kathmandu.
As we arrived there DSP Govinda Raj Kafle started the program with a formal talk. After the talk with Mr. Govinda Raj Kafle, we were taken to the CCTV and the control center of the police department. They showed us how many main chowks and cities have been covered with CCTV and CRV (control room vehicle). We were also instructed by the police officers about dialing 100 in case of emergencies. We were also shown some technical department of the police. After this visit the technical department DIG Sailash Thapa Kshetri made us aware of different topics related to our safety as well as others’ safety. We got to learn many things from his personal experiences.
This visit was fruitful and interesting.
We started our journey from our school to the Metropolitan Police Office at 9:30 am. We reached our destination at around 9:45 am. This was the biggest office of Kathmandu valley. That program was hosted by DSP Govinda Raj Kafle and DIG Shailesh Thapa. We also visited the control room where we saw CCTV footage of different areas. They showed us the demo of a road accident. We requested them to show us real accidents also. We saw two accidents which were very dangerous. The program was conducted into two sections. First DSP Govinda Raj Kafle gave us knowledge about cyber-crime and other crimes. He showed us the video also what safety measures could be taken but it was not too interesting. In the second half, DIG Sailesh Thapa's talk was very interesting. He told us about his own life. We returned to school, we reached school at 1:15 pm and we ate lunch and we attended our regular class.
The metropolitan police office is located at Ranipokhari, Kathmandu. It controls 3 districts : Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. Firstly when we got there, the DSP Govinda Raj Kafle gave us some information about the metropolitan police office. He said that the role of the police is to monitor accidents, to reduce crime, to help during disasters. Their work is also to aware people about many things. He also told us about CRV. The whole office was under the supervision of DIG Shailesh Thapa. He said that he has been working in that field for 27 years.

Dashain is a major festival celebrated in Nepal and it lasts for 10 days. In Dashain, we put tika and Jamara. But this year, my Dashain did not go very well. I felt very bored. I did not want to go anywhere. I was at home the whole Dashain vacation, I did not visit my relatives' house. I read the reading books for 6 to 7 days. After that, I went to my friend's house to play. We went to the Deerwalk complex and played basketball every morning. I also went cycling with my friends. I went to my friend's house a few times to fly kites. On the day of tika, we ate lots of meat and drank many cold drinks. I also went to Patan Durbar square, and Surya Binayak, with my brothers. I think this vacation was boring because I didn't go to my village. If I was in the village then it could have been more fun. After tika, I and my brother I went to Deerwalk to play basketball and we also trained there.
Overall, this year’s Dashain was not fun for me.
Our Dashain vacation started on 13th Ashoj and ended on 26th Ashoj. The length of the vacation was 16 days. Our vacation started on the day of Ghatasthapana. On the day of Ghatasthapana, people sow jamara for Dashami. The preparation starts for the festival of Dashain. People start flying kites from the day. People build swings and some gamble. Many people go to the village to celebrate Dashain.
Dashain is a festival that brings joy and happiness. I did not go outside Kathmandu this Dashain. I read Stephen Hawking's "The Brief History of Time". I enjoyed the book and was able to finish the book. I flew kites with my friends. I have also started reading Yuval Noah Harari's book ' Sapiens: A brief history of mankind.’ I completed all the assignments provided by teachers. My Dashain vacation was wonderful and fun.
On February 3rd, 2020, we were taken to a short visit to the display of antique items on our school grounds. The display was set the day before, for a program called the “A Day for Preschoolers” in which the preschoolers of other schools visited our school. In this display, we saw many antique items that were put on display. The items like gagri, old swords , khukuris, musical instruments, a model of temples, utensils, yanka, ornaments, oil lamp, Sankha, tat chulesi, Lusi, etc. The thing that caught my eye was the Gramophone. It was very well preserved. Talcha, Masiya, Dau, karuwa, Aari, Thyanga , Hawan kund, etc were to put in the display. Musical instruments like a Tinchu, Yalamber Baja, Pianika, etc were put in the display. Old weapons were also put in the display. I also saw a typewriter and hardwares of the computer. I recognized some of these items and some of the items were new to me. I witnessed them for the first time. The visit was very informative. I also got some knowledge on how these items were used and for what purpose.
On 10th of Ashwin, Deerwalk Sifal School organized Deerwalk Debate Night. There were two language categories, i.e. English and Nepali with 16 participants in each category. Deerwalk Debate Night started at 4:30 PM and ended at 7:00 PM. The champion of each category would be given - called the " Deerwalk Debate Night Champion in English Nepali language category, 2019". I was looking forward to earning that title in the English language category. However, I couldn't give that much time and effort in practicing my debate because I was busy with my assignments. Two days before the Deerwalk Debate Night I had written all of my points and I practiced speaking a day before the official event. Through that process, my mentor Samyo Ma’am and my music teacher Robin sir left no stone unturned to build my self-esteem. And therefore I owe my position of the (High School Champion in English language Category) to them.
I have always been interested and dedicated towards mass speaking and there's no doubt that I learned a lot from this event. It is said that warriors don't give up and even though I didn't get the title of Deewalk Debate Night Champion in the English Language category, I have promised myself to never give up on mass speaking because I'm always ready for a new ride and experience.
On 10th Ashoj, Friday Deerwalk Debate Night was held on Sagarmatha hall of DWIT. All together there were 36 students in the finale of both the categories (Nepali and English). We again went to DWIT. Then at 4 P.M. all the parents started to come in the hall. Then we entered the from the back entrance as they slowly announced the names of the finalists. First the finalists of the english category spoke on the topic, "Students Should Not Be Graded on the basis of their handwriting". After their amazing debate the finalists of the Nepali language category spoke on their topic, “बैदेशिक रोज्गर भन्दा स्वदेशी रोज्गर ठीक”. After all the debaters were done, the students of grade 1,2,3 sang a song. After that all the finalists were given certificates. Then the DSS debate champion was declared.
