- Aryan Thagunna - 2022003, Gra ... 10 September, 2020

Why Are We Forgetting To Respect And Appreciate Each Other?
- Deelisha Maharjan - 2022006, ... 09 September, 2020

What do you mean by the words ‘appreciate’ and ‘respect’? People often think that these two words have no value in our life but they are wrong. These two words can change everything that is happening in a person’s life. Now, you wonder how that can be possible? The word ‘appreciate’ means recognizing the value of and being grateful for. The word ‘respect’ means admiration for someone because of their qualities or achievements and consideration of the feelings or rights of others. These two words are easy to spell but hard to understand and feel.

‘Appreciate’ this word for you may be a joke to you now but after knowing it you will know the value and importance of it. We often are busy with our own work. We forget the person who is taking care of us in every aspect. We often forget to appreciate their efforts. We often forget to appreciate what we have and others don’t have. You know, most of the people only appreciate if any good thing happens or someone did any good thing to them but some people are there who always appreciate whether any bad or good things happened to them. That is what we call appreciating someone. Why should we only appreciate God for everything? Aren’t there other people to appreciate our life? If you count on the people who you should appreciate there are many. The first one is your family members then armies, doctors, nurses, police officers, engineers, sweepers, and cleaners. These people work hard for us to have peaceful living, harmony, to be secured and safe, to stay in a healthy and clean environment, and to have a mutual understanding. You don’t have to do all the work they have done for you to appreciate them. Just stay with them and help them a little and most importantly say ‘thank you’, greet them every time you meet them. It does not take a single rupee to be kind to people. A simple thank you will make their day, trust me. When you say it you will know the value of appreciating others. You can try saying thank you even in small things as that will make someone’s day happy and also your mood good.

“Don’t be concerned about others not appreciating you. Be concerned about your not appreciating others. ” - Confucius

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them. ”

“Thankyou is the least I can say to you to show my appreciation for everything you have done for me.”

These sayings have very deep meaning if taken seriously.

‘Respect’ this word is really magical in itself. We people say this word more than a hundred times. We say respect others, respect each other’s thoughts, respect each other’s profession but do we do it? I guess there are fewer people who do it. In this modern age, people are losing their respect for each other. We should respect every person we see in our day to day life. We people often disrespect people by their occupation. In people’s eyes the work like sweeper and cleaner are not to be respectful, is it true? In people's eyes the uneducated people are not to be respected, is it?  We respect what other people are doing. Respect is not a thing that you wish to get as a demand but respect is a thing to earn by yourself as you earn your income by working for it. I heard there are two kinds of people in the world. In the first world, parents force their children to be successful and end up like a sweeper, cleaner or a waiter. In the second world, parents teach their children to be successful and create a big world for the people who are working hard being sweeper, cleaner, or waiter. In these two worlds, it is clearly shown how much respect is there for each other, each other’s feelings and work. Learn to respect people and you will earn respect yourself. Respect people in even small things like we appreciate them in every little thing. In order of getting respect people to end up doing very stupid things which only cause them to be disrespectful. Respect is a feeling that can only be felt with your heart then you get respect from outside from others. Respect the people who are there in your hard times especially your parents. Respect every little creature living on earth because they have the equal right to be respected. Most people disrespect according to gender and sexual orientation too. They too have the same right to do anything and to be equally respected as we do. It was not their fault to be born that way, it’s not a feeling, they are people with feelings. People need to seriously need to learn to be empathetic. This world lacks empathy that is why it is going in the wrong direction. The killing of innocent black people, gender-based violence, and so on.

“Respect cannot be learned, purchased, or acquire

तीज
- Himani Bhattarai - 2023017, G ... 09 September, 2020

My First International Karate Tournament’s Experience
- Dip Rajbahak - 2022008, Grade ... 08 September, 2020

In 2017, I was just a beginner in the field of Karate. I was a valley player and because of my better performance, I was selected for the South Asian Cadet Karate Championship. I was quite nervous to take part in that event. The night before the game day I couldn’t sleep I was just focused on that event. And finally, on the game day, I was so scared that I had to play against seniors who had more and better experience than me. But it was a lucky day for me because the seniors and the better players were facing each other at first. Although the players I was matched against were also good.

So I got an easy victory over them. My first two-fights were a bit easy but in the third round I needed to face a national player but I was way confident that I could win over him and indeed I did. I won against him by 4-1 score. My final fight before the semifinal round was a bit difficult where I just won against that player with a 1-nil score. I was so happy that I went to the semifinal round. The semi-finals and finals were going to be played the next day. But sadly I got hurt on my right arm. In the semifinal, there were 4 different players from different nations. I was representing Nepal. I was to face Pakistan’s player in the semi-final.

The next morning we were a bit late because of traffic so after we reached Dashrat Rangashala my name was announced so quickly that I had not changed my dress at that time. So I just ran over to the dressing room and quickly I changed and came to the arena. The Pakistani player got badly beaten by me and I knocked him out. So at last, my final game was at 10 pm where I needed to play against the state champion of Punjab. As he was sledding me since the afternoon. The match started at first he scored a point and we both scored at the same time I got 2 and he got 3 scores and he started to counter again but I counter-attacked him and I got 3 and time was about to end.

He panicked and was furious but I was not. Using this to my advantage I scored 3 more points; the time ended. The final scores were 8-4 and I won the Gold Medal for my nation.

- Muskan Singh - 2023005, Grade ... 08 September, 2020

‘She’
- Deelisha Maharjan - 2022006, ... 07 September, 2020

Starting from her childhood, she was not like others, kids playing with friends but she was one of a kind who spent time with her great grandfather and grandparents. She was not that smart nor beautiful through her point of view. She underestimated herself often compared to others. She wore very beautiful dresses sent by her maternal uncle and her dad from abroad. She enjoyed her amazing childhood with her family. While she was young, her great grandfather passed away which did not affect her as much because she did not understand the concept of death but his loss saddened her as she grew older. She had enjoyed spending her time with her great grandfather roaming around, playing with each other, teasing each other, getting lost, and eating stupid things. She admired him and loved him so much more than her parents. Sometimes her grandfather used to give some local alcohol to her to cure some illness. But it was more likely that after drinking it, she got drunk and acted like a stupid person. One time, she was so drunk that when she came home she kept on saying funny things and kept doing stupid things.

Growing up, she joined her school and started to learn. She learned a lot of things and shared them with her family members. She learned to open herself. She liked dancing so much that every time she told her mom to shoot a video of her. She was a great dancer. Her dance moves seemed very freeing. As a student studying in the lower school, her second eldest sister used to pick and drop her off from school. She loved her elder sister very much and fought a lot with her younger sister. She loved all her three cousin sisters. She also loved her grandparents on both of her parents’ side as well as them especially her little dog who she regarded as her brother as she was the only child. She never treated her dog as an outsider and the dog’s name was ‘Mun’. She played with him so much and irritated him a lot. She used to spend more time with her mom rather than her dad because her dad stayed abroad and she was only there to see her. Many years later, her dad came home to surprise her. The first time she saw her dad; it was shocking and she called him a very dangerous looking man because he had long hair and he was tall and fit.

A month had passed and she was always happy and excited to spend time with her father. Her father only came for two months and again he returned abroad for his work. When he went, she felt very sad. Years went on, she spent all her time with her family members. There was her older sister who admired and loved a lot. She was like a second mother to her. Picking her up at school was always her grandfather’s duty. He used to hold her hands and brought her to their shop. She used to have snacks in the shop and used to go home with her grandparents talking and laughing till they reached home. She used to love her grandparents so much that they had held so much importance in her life; even more than her parents. She grew up with her younger sister fighting, laughing, roaming, and loving.

After a few years, her younger sister and second eldest sister went abroad to study and work. Her mother, her elder sister, her grandparents, and she were only at home for several years. Then her second eldest sister got married and spent time with her for a few months and went abroad again. After that, when her eldest sister got married, she cried for several days that she couldn’t marry anyone. She loved her so much that she didn’t want her to leave the house. She grew up and developed physically and mentally. She was also betrayed by her friends at some time. She was left all alone in her group. After facing this for a few months, she felt that she didn't have a friend to accompany her because she found a friend within her. She faced the fact that she is not alone by herself and started to seek for opportunities and success. She wasn’t bothered by the loneliness that her supposed “friends" gave her. She moved on and faced it all alone and still, she chose to face the problems alone. She found herself a best friend within herself. After many years, her father came and stayed with their family. After that, everybody was happy in the house.

After a few years, her elder sister gave birth to a baby boy. Her second eldest sister also had a baby girl. She was an aunt of two. She was the only child of her parents but after some time she had her own sister which she was praying and hoping to have. She felt so happy again to be a sister. Although there was a huge age gap between them she was so happy that she couldn’t explain. She was so blessed to have a family where she could share all her emotions. After that, she realized the value of everyone in her family and what it looks like to be a part of a loving family.

The story of “she” you read is about me.

- Dhiraj Chapagain - 2022007, G ... 07 September, 2020

USB Killer
- Bikarsha Ojha - 2022005, Grad ... 06 September, 2020

We all know about USB. known formally as Universal Serial Bus as a portable device to transfer data easily from a computer to another desktop easily which was developed in 1994 by USB implementers forum, co-developed by Ajay Bhatt. This was a big technological step as large sizes of data can be transferable, unlike the Floppy Disc which had approximately small storage for transferring space.

As the development has increased in the technological sector, USBs had just gone from big to small in size but large in storage where till 512GB can be stored by a special flash drive known as DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 which is in process of 1-2TB in later development.

As USB had come further, An unknown developer(Supposedly from Russia or Hong Kong), had developed a new type of USB known as “The USB Killer”. As the name suggests, it is built to destroy not only USB ports but the entire computer. As for the term, It is not widely illegal as it is used by many companies(mostly security companies) to test their PCs if it can handle such high voltage if a sudden spike occurs without any measures. The cases where a computer just “dies” is when they have potentially unprotected ports. The working mechanism of a USB Killer has 5 small capacitors which take only 5 volts to charge themselves and transmit a sudden 240 volts to the Laptop/Desktop. This determines the mechanism of the PC if it can handle such electrical spikes or will it fry everything(including the motherboard and the batteries) killing everything which takes a lot of amounts to repair or just straight up replace the desktop which the user had been experimenting on.

This device had been used for complete professional use. This determines the capacity and the mechanism of the PC if it can handle such electricity. There has been little to no information of any attacks by the USB killers on other desktop computers until in 2019 when a former Indian Student in College of Saint Rose named Vishwanath Akuthota had pleaded guilty of destroying 59 computers with an estimated budget of $50.000. In the end, he had to pay $58.471. As rare these cases are, People are still ill-advised to use such USB devices that are found randomly in random areas with no signs of safety measures before using the USB drive.

- Sashwat Paudel - 2022019, Gra ... 06 September, 2020

F=Gm1m2/d2  हुन्छ | जसमा,

m1=पहिलो वस्तुको पिण्ड

m2=दोस्रो वस्तुको  पिण्ड

d2=तिनीहरुको दुरी (square)

G=gravitational constant (6.67×10^-11)

Dashain
- Kriti Nepal - 2023016, Grade ... 02 September, 2020

There are many festivals celebrated in Nepal by different peoples from different cultures, traditions, and religions. Dashain is also one of the major festivals celebrated in Nepal with great joy and enthusiasm. Dashain mostly falls on the month of Ashwin according to the Nepali date and between September to October according to the English date. Dashain is usually celebrated as the occasion to mark the victory of the goddess Durga over the Demon Mahishasura. This occasion signifies the victory of good over evil.

The festival of Dashain is celebrated usually for 15 days. The first day is known as Ghatasthapana. On this day the people sow barley seeds which produce Jamara (barley). The people worship the goddess Durga during these days. The 10th day is known as Vijaya Dashami. On this day, families gather and the younger ones receive tika on their forehead and Jamara (barley grasses) on their heads. This is considered as blessings from the elders. This day is celebrated with great joy. The children swing on swings made from bamboo and fly kites. It is believed that during Dashain it is essential for our feet to be lifted off the ground, hence the swing.  People buy new clothes before the festival begins to wear them on this day, the people indulge in a feast with their family, the people clean their house before the festival comes, the schools, colleges, and offices are closed for these days. Dashain is considered as an auspicious occasion. On this occasion the family members, relatives, and neighbors are brought closer, peace and goodwill are maintained.

However, some people in the name of festivals cause social problems like gambling, drinking alcohol, and many more. We must not let these things happen as our culture and festival may be spoiled. My Favourite Book: I Am Malala
- Muskan Singh - 2023005, Grade ... 01 September, 2020

Books are those who have inspired me in many aspects of my life. I enjoy reading books. They help to make me free from the stress by taking me to a new world without traveling. And it also enhances our imagination, creativity and teaches us about different aspects of life and the world. Subsequently, I have read several books. However, my all times, Favourite book is, “I am Malala, the girl that stood for education and was shot by the Taliban.” I have read the book of Malala, yet I read them again as I never get bored of it.

“I am Malala” is the real story of a fourteen-year-old girl’s campaign for women’s right to education. When she was conducting this campaign she was shot by the Taliban in 2011 when she was returning to her home from school through the bus. Due to this case, her campaign became more powerful and she got support from Pakistan and England. Malala’s story is an example of courage and advocacy as she was shot in the head by the Taliban but she miraculously survived and continued her campaign.

The first part of this book describes Pakistan’s history and her ancestor’s culture and tradition. Malala shared about her family and friends as well. She mainly describes her father Ziauddin Yousafzai. Through her story, I learned that the courage and strength she has was inspired by her father’s character. Ziauddin Yousafzai disobeyed Taliban orders by running a private school that encouraged girls to attend which inspired Malala. Her father faced many obstacles and the main motto of her father’s school was that “We are committed to building for you the call of the new era”. Her father believed that the pen is more powerful than swords which inspired me a lot.

Her father was the person who gave her courage and strength to stand to fight for the women’s education right and which ultimately helped her to be the youngest Nobel peace prize winner.

Some of the quotes of Malala was really motivational, my favorite quote derived by her is, “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” This is just a sentence but has deep meaning. Malala is considered as the symbol of peace and bravery across the world. Not only has Malala become an international symbol of inspiration and bravery, but her survival instilled educators with courage-and is slowly helping make Pakistani schools safer.

So, I think that this is a must-read book. I found this book very much inspiring and motivation due to which I consider this as the best book I have read till today. She delivered about education in one of her speeches that was, “Education is education. We should learn everything and then choose which path to follow. Education is neither Eastern nor Western, it is human.”

So, I recommend this book to everyone, and I believe that whoever will read this book would get something through it.
