Omicron poses “highglobal risk”
- Dhendup Norphel Sherpa - 2302 ... 23 December, 2021

The Omicron is the mutation of coronavirus ,which is reported in more than 60 countries, and poses a very excessive worldwide threat, the World Health Organization says. Omicron, first detected in southern Africa on 24 November 2021 whose mutations may additionally cause higher transmissibility . The WHO said there have been early signs that vaccinated people would no longer build sufficient antibodies to push back contamination from Omicron, resulting in high transmission costs. It is unclear whether or not Omicron is contagious than the globally dominant Delta version, the WHO said. Omicron is much less risky, as stated by WHO.There has been a great impact on the life of peoples after the pandemic. If the virus goes on spreading rapidly like before the world’s economy would crash. The world has faced a lot after this virus .In recent news, there were 2 people infected with a new variant in Nepal. So the Nepal Government has decided to stop the facility of Nepal Tourist Visa on Arrival for the passengers of nine different countries.
The Nepal government has decided not to do a lockdown. Rather than doing a lockdown they are trying to find solutions to prevent it from spreading within the country. Nepal has not been really affected with omicron  variant till today. We should not be carefree and roam here and there in crowded areas. The Omicron has  32 mutations on the spike protein .WHO has said that there would be more deadly virus than this if it would  mutate. Many countries are being conscious about this virus and started lockdown in many places. To prevent it from spreading everyone is using Mask and sanitizer, initiating social distancing. It will help reduce the increase of virus.More and more research  are going on the clarification of virus.Vaccines are being provided like Pifzer to reduce it from going on wild.So we should be careful form this virus and wear double mask if needed to protect yourself.

Why You’re Probably a Loser and that's not a bad thing
- Aashutosh Pudasaini - 22002, ... 23 December, 2021

Is being a loser such a bad thing? The answer depends on what your definition of a ‘loser’ is. Like all things the definition of a loser is subjective and varies from person to person. Generally however being a loser means not having a lot of wealth, fame, influence and being unpopular among your peers. Ancient Greeks argued that the things that define your success like Wealth, Fame and Influence are meaningless in comparison to things that are truly worth living for and can be found within. Chasing the above mentioned things require external validation from others and when a person's happiness depends on others and what they feel about you then what comes with that validation can never be fruitful. Fame, Wealth and all materialistic things withhold from attaining the real important things in life. The Greeks believed that the ability to not care and not change one behaviour based on the ever-changing outside circumstances including others opinions is the only way to attain inner peace.

We’re so afraid to be seen as losers that we’re willing to suffer for other people's approval, what a sad state to live in. By being dependent on others’ opinions we gamble away our chances to be happy. Epictetus, a Greek philosopher, suggests we focus on our opinions about ourselves rather than others. Epictetus argues that inner peace, self-love and a state of tranquillity is more important compared to things we are not the masters of, like others opinions and feelings towards us. If letting go of these lesser things makes us total losers in the eyes of others then that’s a price with paying. Being seen as a loser doesn't have to be a bad thing, quite the contrary actually, Once already been labelled as a loser you no longer have to care about others validation and opinion and you can focus on things that matter like tranquillity and harmony. Being seen as a loser gives you the ability to be transparent and not be poisoned by the burden of others' opinions.

Positive side of Videogames no one sees …
- Sushant Nepal - 23044, Grade ... 22 December, 2021

Video games are often disliked by parents believing it as time-wasters, and even worse. Some  experts believe that videogames corrupt the brain. Generally, Video Games are referred to those  games which are played electronically by manipulating images produced by a computer program on a monitor or other display. Some people believe that violent video games are the main reason for children being violent and aggressive these days. But that's certainly not the case. While some people believe it makes kids violent, some people believe video games are actually good and have certain benefits. Some of the benefits of video games are:-

Quick thinking and decision making: The study suggests that playing action shooting video games primes the brain to make quick decisions. While playing games like Fortnite, Call of duty, Counter strike, you never know what your opponent is upto. You have to react quickly in order to keep up.

Pattern recognition and memory: Campaign games such as Uncharted series, Farcry series have internal logic and sets of pattern. Players have to crack those challenges to further proceed.

Accuracy and reflexes: Playing shooting games definitely increases accuracy and reflexes. Having high reflexes has a  lot of benefits in our daily life.

Teamwork and cooperation: Many online multiplayer games such as Team Fortress 2 involve cooperation with other players in order to win. These games require teamwork and cooperation in order to win the game.

Health benefits: Playing video games also has a lot of health benefits. Virtual games can be taken as mind exercise in one way. It has also been proven that video games have cured mental problems.

Though video games have benefits, spending too much time on them hampers our formal life and  health. Everything has its limit, staying under it always has better results.

Colorism seen in our society
- Jubin Maharjan - 22026, Grade ... 22 December, 2021

Our country Nepal likes to portray itself like a place where everyone is accepted far from any sort of discrimination. When we look at other counties where there is discrimination on the basic of color, sex, etc. we get amazed. We act like just by removing the caste discrimination, and giving women education, we have solved all the discrimination in the country. We only feel so, because we have come to accept the discrimination that’s happening in the country.

Today I would like to talk about the discrimination on the basis of skin color/ fairness that happens in our country. Colorism is widely overlooked in our country. Colorism is any discrimination done against an individual on the basis of their dark skin tone. We can see the huge effects of colorism in countries like Nepal, India, Philippines, etc. In our country we feel like having a lighter skin tone makes you look better and having a darker skin tone makes you look ugly. An individual becomes a victim of colorism from their birth. When a child is born the parents want their kids to be light skin toned rather than dark. When the child grows up with a darker skin tone they are teased or bullied by calling them different names. Even during the time of marriage people look for a light skin toned bride or groom rather than a dark skin toned. This problem has been going on in our country for a long time but we all overlook it because we have come to accept it. We all want a lighter skin tone because that is what we have been taught from childhood. Even in the advertisements we can see colorism. The advertisements of beauty products have a huge impact on the growing colorism. The advertisement shows that having a lighter
skin tone will make you look more beautiful; will help you get a job or even get a marriage proposal. All these negative messages are implanted in our brains by the advertisements to sell their beauty products. We as a society need to address this problem of colorism as it can have a huge impact on the mental health of an individual. We all can remove this discrimination from society by not overlooking its effect on a person.

- Anukrama Poudel - 2022031, Gr ... 21 December, 2021

HOMOSEXUALITY IN NEPAL AND ITS CONCEPT
- Pratyush Chapagain - 23033, G ... 21 December, 2021

The term “homosexuality” refers to the experience of exclusive or nearly exclusive erotic preference for others of the same sex in fantasy and, characteristically, through realization of sexual intimacy with others of the same sex. Nepal is the first country in south Asia which recognizes transgender identities. In 2007 December 21st supreme court of Nepal gave a verdict in favor of LGBTQ+ community members. Though they got their legal identity still in Nepal it is taken as a social taboo.
There are lots of unbroken stereotypes in our society on homosexuality. Even the current situation of health sector contains many barriers that prevents target group from fully accessing and utilizing health services, geography, one’s social, cultural/religious and economic status, discrimination by health service providers, inadequate flow of information, believes in traditional healing methods and ineffective health programs and services. The nature of the violence faced by lesbian women and gays starts from family. Family stands as the the site of violence for most women and most of the gays, since it is where restriction is exerted over a woman’s sexuality and male sexual orientation, mobility, and access to resources. The extent of control ranged from silence to punishment, with emotional violence being the result of the family’s non-acceptance of the woman’s and men's sexuality and the attempt to control him/her. Families often kept the sexual orientation secret because of fear of shame and stigma as it is taken as social taboo. Lesbian women and gay men reported suppressing their identities, or disclosing in non-explicit ways, because of the fears of loss of family and violent consequences. The violence that they faced led them to experience guilt, shame, fear, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. In 2012, three UN Special Rapporteurs issued a joint communication on a case where women and LGBTQ+ human rights defenders faced intimidation of and threats against, as a result of their support of a victim of domestic violence, following his/her self-identification as a lesbians or gay.
To pay respect to all the homosexual people we celebrate “ the pride month. Justifying the subject we should love and respect to all the homosexual people, lets not get bonded with our century old stereotype, even our religion give the liberty for homosexuality Mohini is the only female avataar of Vishnu, who exhibits gender variability, in one case even becoming pregnant (Vishnu as Mohini and the Preserver even procreates with Shiva, the designated Destroyer to give birth to Lord Ayyappa). Each time Vishnu, in his role as the protector of the universe, took the feminine form of the divine enchantress Mohini, the world got saved. Vishnu becomes Mohini when gender-adaptability (here it’s not masculinity but femininity)  is called for, to solve a problem. Beyond the role of the savior, the implications in dual-genderism and fluid sexuality are more analogical, wherein each person lies in the male and the female.

20 December, 2021
