- Prisha Acharya - 29040, Grade ... 02 May, 2022

Sneak Peak on The Past Lives of Our Grannies
- Manaswi Sapkota - 26004, Grad ... 22 March, 2022

Born in 1953, my grandmother is currently 69. She was born in a remote village in Okhaldhunga. At that time life was quite hard compared to today. People had to walk for 2 days just to get food items and water. There wasn’t a good way to communicate either. There weren’t many entertaining games either. According to my grandmother she used to roleplay being a bride and groom with her friends for entertainment.

Studying was something my grandma couldn’t even imagine about, as at the time people only sent boys to school. She was also married at a very young age of 13. I wonder how she felt getting married at such a young age, but at that time it was very normal. She was married to a man who was twice her age. During her time people married off their daughters at the age of 5 as well, she said she was married at an older age compared to her friends. After some years of getting married she gave birth to a daughter. After some years of having a daughter, she again gave birth to a son. Just like that my grandmother gave birth to 6 kids in total. At that time none of my grandparents were educated and nor was the village educated, so it was common to have 4-5 children in each household.

After getting married my grandmother used to color the house using a mixture of red soil and water everyday and work in the kitchen while my grandfather worked in the fields. She used a dhiki and janto on anything that needed to be crushed. She sometimes helped in the field. The field was only capable of producing corn, gahat, daal, etc so they got other food items from the stores, which took two days to reach. There were many animals my grandparents raised at that time like: buffalo, goats, cows, bulls, etc.

My grandmother also only dressed in gunio cholo for most of her life. She has many sarees too. The men of the village dressed in daura cholo and women dressed in gunio cholos. This was what life was like in her time.

Overview | Lesson Learned

The old traditional things like janto and dhiki are still there in our house in the village. To get food, nobody has to travel by foot. I learned that technology is really developing fast and life is becoming easier.

But life isn’t easy for everyone, even with technology. I did know that child marriage was quite common but still hearing that 5 year old children were married off to someone thrice their age still shocked me. I did some research found out that Nepal is in the 3rd place in Asia where child marriage happens frequently. I feel like if my grandmother wasn’t married at such a young age and was given a chance to study she’d be able to write stories she always tells. There were so many other women who would’ve been pursuing their dreams right now if it weren’t for child marriage and sexism.

We need to continue raising awarness against child marriage and sexism. This will help many people. I learnt so many things from my grandmother’s life, including their lifestyle, their clothes, etc.

Molestation: A Sexual Abuse
- Krishma Thapa - 27005, Grade ... 18 March, 2022

Molestation is sexual abuse done by a person upon another person. It is usually known as Sexual abuse. If someone touches your sensitive or private parts and makes you uncomfortable it is referred to as molestation. The person who is molesting forces or takes advantage of another person without their consent. Not only women, even men and children are molested.

How do they feel? How uncomfortable are they?None think about it.They are scared to go out alone. Not only girls and boys are uncomfortable too. They all go through a lot.Its a nightmare for anyone who has gone through it..They feel left out and think about that incident throughout their lives and make them feel constantly down and scared. Most of them are afraid to share what actually happened to them knowing how the society would in return blame the survivor. The society we live in is very toxic for all. But now gradually times are changing for us. Survivors who has gone through sexual abuses are coming out and have started to share their stories, their traumatic experiences and how they are living with it. Society has few percent of people who actually are empathic and take these issues sensitively.

If we go through the same we should not hesitate to share it.We may not be comfortable with all but can share it with whom we are comfortable with.If we keep this thing inside us we will always feel low as always and can't do the best.

The young children, both boys and girls, should be taught about bad touch and good touch, about consent and boundaries from a very young age.

Revisiting Covid Days
- Pradnesh Singh Basnet - 27015 ... 16 March, 2022

When covid-19 was first discovered on  31st of December, 2019, there were fewer people infected with it, but 2 months later in February Due to the mass spread of covid-19 the governments all around the world started to keep their country on lockdown for their safety and the safety of their nation. 2 months later on February 11th, the official lockdown began all around the world. Their world faced a lot of problems like shortage of food and other daily products like toilet paper, etc. Not only this but people also lost their jobs. This inspired people to start their own companies. The year when covid-19 started, I joined a new School called Sifal Secondary School (Deerwalk). When I was admitted to this school, 2 weeks later due to covid lockdown began and like every other school even my school went to lockdown, and we started having online classes,  for about 4 months lockdown continued and when covid was just being under control a new variant of corona appeared, this went on for 7 to 8 months and after that schools, shopping malls, etc started to open, right when everything was going well and when my 6th-grade finale term was just around the corner me and 4 of my family members were tested positive, it was not safe for use to stay at home as my grandmother, sister and brother were still negative so my grandfather contacted A.P.F hospital and got rooms for us, my father informed the situation to my school and I had to do my exam online. I didn't have any symptoms of covid yet when I got tested positive, but my mother and father had almost all the symptoms and the doctors even needed to use medication. We stayed for about a month there everything was going fine but then slowly the smell of medicines made us feel dizzy, we finally got tested negative and then we returned home. After reaching home I got my results of exam, I got lucky and it was a vacation during that time and lockdown was also a little bit settled, so I got a chance to visit my cousins when we went to my cousins we had a plan to stay there for couple of days and during that time we had a barbeque, played tons of sports like basketball, football, etc, we even played online games together during that time our older cousin had just arrived from USA so we even got to spend a lot of time, after a month our school reopened and I was in grade 7th now, our school continued for bit of time but then due to covid spreading again about three months later even our school needed to start online classes, but the online class did not last that long it only went on for 1 month and our school started again, from this time everything was going just fine and even almost every school started to have physical classes, after a week or so my father got a little sick and my family members thought that he got covid, but when we took him for checkup it was just common cold, and after taking some medicines finally he had recovered. During this time my family and I went to different places for visits and also went to watch some movies, this is all the experience I had during this covid.
