Television was invented by J.L. Baird in 1927. ‘Tele’ means distant or far and ‘vision’ means sight or to see. It gives us entertainment. It is the first electronic appliance to watch movies, videos, events, programs, games, drama and music. TV programs help us to improve our general knowledge. It is also helpful for students in their studies. Earlier TV was black and white, bulky and required more space. Nowadays we have a color TV which is flat and requires less space. They can be mounted on the wall of the room. There are many channels on TV. People can watch channels as per their choice. Children like to watch cartoons, women like to watch serials, young people like to watch music and movies and older people like to watch the news. It is the most wonderful invention of science but it has some disadvantages also. It wastes so much time. It makes people lazy and unsocial. Children like to stay home by watching TV rather than going outside to play. Watching TV for a long time is harmful to our eyes. It is important to maintain distance from the TV or use a blue-light protection film to protect our eyes. TV is very helpful to us but should be used properly.
