Well, I never owned you
When your mind had a crew.
When I was a little child
I used to make many demands and choices.
For the first time that I saw you,
My heart echoed in fervent voices.
You were my childhood best friend,
I remember all the gifts we used to lend.
I loved and loved,
Stated once that nothing can’t be unsolved.
Hey man! Our ego came in between,
Obliviated all the moments where we intertwined.
You proved everything wrong what I used to see,
And ignored my feelings without evaluating me.
Being amicable with you was abrasive,
But some of your pledges were quite impressive.
Now sitting on the terrace amidst the cold wind,
Willing to move on but hope doesn’t give a hint.
Hey, can you feel those droplets
Flooding from the edges of my eyes?
Still feels like an ice pick
Stabbing when the heart cries.
When the lines of hands and hands clammed,
All I love and loved,
All alone….
Genetically modified organisms, commonly known as GMOs, are living organisms whose DNA structure or genetic foundation is altered using genetic engineering. The term GMOs includes both plants and animals. Genetically modified animals are generally used for experimental or research purposes whereas such plants are used for efficient crop yield. The first GMOs were plants/crops produced for consumption in the mid-1900s. With the advancement in science, genetic engineering has also come a long way as well, but this seemingly progressive outlook on GMOs looks a bit problematic from a skeptical perspective.
GMOs and genetic engineering has been a crucial part in the field of biology. However, the sectors of agriculture, livestock farming, pisciculture etc are the major areas of impact by modern-day biogenetics. Genetically engineered Salmon which matures faster and can be sold at 18 months instead of 3 years as well as modified corn which is pest-resistant due to self-secretion of BT Toxin are some instances where bio-engineering has made agriculture efficient and convenient. Not just this, GMOs research has opened new areas of discovery in the field of medicine as well. This means that with the ideal genome combinations scientists can possibly create vaccines to tackle many diseases and illnesses. Likewise, foods produced with GMOs not only have a longer shelf-life but also are pest-resistant and leave a better taste when consumed.
However, even though research concludes GMOs aren’t evidently harmful but rather useful and safe. Experts suggest that in the long term, GMOs are likely to invite public health safety concerns and environmental issues. Health concerns involve the onset of allergic reactions from modified food stuff as well as the possibility of cancer in consumers. GMO foods may trigger allergies because “[They] contain foreign genes, so some people worry that they harbor genes from foods that may prompt an allergic reaction” (Raman). As mentioned by Dr. Alessandro Fiocchi in his article “Food Allergy” published in the World Allergy Organization’s (WAO) official site, over 10% of the global population has some sort of seafood or shellfish allergy. And, the genetic combination of fish DNA in other food products is quite common to maximize yield. Hence, the possibility of triggering an allergic reaction is equally high while consuming GMO based food items.
Talking about health concerns, progression of cancers is another issue that has come to light after extensive research on GMOs. It is a well-known fact that cancers are a cause of genetic mutation of DNA and GMOs are literally created using genetic engineering which involves tweaking the genes of an organism. In regard to this, skeptics claim that consuming GMO food may alter the DNA of the people eating it and possibly lead to cancer. This worry stemmed from a mice study, “which linked GMO intake to a higher risk of tumors and early death” (Raman). The possibility of developing cancer through GMOs is a scary thought-process since no research in this regard has been made till date. Likewise, as per the American Cancer Society, there is no medium to link GMOs to the increased or decreased rate of cancer.
The most glaring controversy regarding GMOs is the risk of genetic pollution, this can be classified as an environmental issue. As discussed above, GMOs are a result of genetic modifications. Hence, the natural or founding state of the DNA architecture is altered. This means GMOs may start to exhibit characters and traits from the genes of other organisms. This instance is mostly viewed in hybrid plants that take over the farmlands reserved for other produce(vegetables). Likewise, plantation of GMOs will cause soil contamination in the long run. This sort of genetic pollution doesn’t only intermingle with nature’s course of pollination but may ultimately cause soil to be sterile.
To sum it all up, GMOs are definitely miracles in the field of biology. They have found true and fruitful purpose in the harvest sector, medicinal field and so on. But in the long run, with limited research GMOs may run rampant and cause serious damage to the health of humans as well as other organisms.
Teleportation is a process of transporting a matter from one point to another by converting it into energy and reconverting it into the terminal point. So far, Human teleportation has not been possible . But according to new research, quantum teleportation has been achieved. In quantum teleportation, some particles are particularly arranged and transfer their exact quantum condition onto other particles arbitrarily so far. It is not possible to create the same copy of a quantum state while not destroying the original. Through a process called quantum entanglement ,the information sent and imprinted onto the exact same chemical elements that we are made of,Those materials are then programmed and arranged exactly the way we are. Now the main question, what if teleportation was possible? As our body is made up of billions, trillions of atoms, each atom is a set of data about energy state, locations and so on. So,theoretically, we can say that by scanning the atomic information our body and send that to the specified location and rebuild the way that it was. But transferring that much information is not that easy. Also we don't know that if we teleported, would we be the same person the way we were?,would it have our memories?,would it have our personality? And teleporting this much data will take a very long time. And also if teleportation is possible then, our daily life will be completely changed. We can go everywhere we want to. Now waking up in front of the Eiffel Tower and eating breakfast in U.S.A, and to India for meal, and then again to the U.S for spending the whole day is like a dream for me ,if teleportation is possible, this could also be possible and that will remain no dream for me.
Franz Kafka was a Czech-born German-language writer whose surreal fiction vividly expressed the anxiety, alienation, and powerlessness of the individual in the 20th century. Kafka's work is characterized by nightmarish settings in which characters are crushed by nonsensical, blind authority. Kafkaesque comes from the name of author Franz Kafka, who lived from the 1883 to 1924.
The term “Kafkaesque” is used to describe concepts and situations reminiscent of his work, particularly Der Process (The Trial) and Die Verwandlung (The Metamorphosis). Thus, the word Kafkaesque is mostly applied to bizarre and impersonal administrative occurrences where the individual feels powerless to understand or control what is happening around his life. Innumerous films and television works have been described as Kafkaesque and the pattern is particularly eminent in dystopian science fiction. Characters in a Kafkaesque setting often lack a clear course of action to escape a labyrinthine situation. Kafkaesque elements often appear in existential works, but the term has transcended the literary realm to apply to real-life occurrences and situations that are incomprehensibly complex, bizarre, or illogical. Examples include instances in which bureaucracies overpower people, often in a surreal, nightmarish milieu which evokes feelings of senselessness, disorientation, and helplessness. You are in a Kafkaesque situation in which they say, "We believe you are a threat, but we won't tell you why you are a threat."
Hence, it can be used to describe any situation or literature that resembles his work, which often involves characters navigating bizarre bureaucracies (unnecessarily complicated government systems full of confusing and contradictory procedures and paperwork). People began tossing it off to describe rather harmless situations, such as racing out the door to catch a bus, then discovering the bus drivers were striking that day. The word is misused and changed with scenarios it often doesn’t relate to. This is one of the greatest works by Franz Kafka

Over 2.5 billion people have smartphones now, and tons of them are having a tough time putting it down (including me). Today’s phones are hard to place down. The biggest problem is that our smartphones are designed to make us stay engaged. They're intentionally addicting. Push notifications buzz in your pocket, red bubbles demand attention, and endless distractions sit at your fingertips. It can feel impossible to tug faraway from. But that’s quite the purpose. When people mention the “attention economy,” they’re pertaining to the very fact that some time and a spotlight are the currency on which today’s applications make money. Because apps profit off of the entire time you spend on their platform, there’s a robust incentive to use psychological tricks to stay you endlessly hooked. But it doesn’t need to be this manner. Start with turning off all notifications, apart from one when a true human is trying to succeed in you. once you get a call, text or a message it's actually because another person wants to speak with you, but today’s apps simulate the sensation of that sort of social interaction, to urge you to spend longer on their platform. For instance, if Facebook sends you a push notification that a lover is curious about an occasion near you, they're essentially acting sort of a marionette, leveraging your desire for social connections in order that you use that app more. But notifications weren’t always like this, when push notifications were first introduced for email on blackberries in 2003 they were actually seen as how for you to see your phone less. you'll easily see emails as they come in, so you don’t need to repeatedly open your phone to refresh in inbox. But today you'll get notification from any app on your phone. So, whenever you check it you get a couple of notifications which will cause you to have a broad sort of emotions. If it's not random then it is predictably bad or predictably good, then you'd not get addicted. The predictability takes the addictiveness. Most apps have pull to refresh design. That’s a conscious design choice. Those apps are usually capable of continuously updating content, but the pull action provides an addicting illusion of control over that process. Designers of many companies get paid to make the app more attractive and more addictive.
In the future we'd see healthier ways of delivering notifications research shows that bundling notifications, where phones deliver a batch of updates at set times, reduces user stress. Then the second way is to grayscale your screen. The simplest thanks to attract the eye's attention on a screen is through color. Human eyes are sensitive to warm colors and in eye-tracking tests, they gravitate particularly to bright red. This is often the reason why numerous apps have redesigned their icon to be brighter, bolder, and warmer over the years. This is often also the rationale why notification bubbles are red, a notification in blue or black or greed doesn’t have an equivalent impact on your attention because the red one. And third way is by restricting your home screen to everyday tools that aren't the apps that you simply can fall under then sucked down some bottomless vortex of stuff (apps that use infinite scrolling). Unlike pagination, where users need to click to load new content on another page, infinite scrolling continuously loads new material so there is no built-in endpoint. Video autoplay works during a similar way.
Tristan Harris, who runs Time Well Spent, is functioning to make a world where platforms can more honestly respect their users’ time. It’s true that we’re seeing unprecedented levels of teenagers using digital devices, most teens have access to a smartphone, and 45 percent say they're online “almost constantly,” consistent with a 2018 Pew poll. and through an equivalent period of your time that internet and smartphone use has increased for a generation of children, the suicide rate has also steadily increased (across all ages overall). We check our phones tons of time during the day. Most folks drastically underestimate how often we do so. But technology won't always look in this manner. There are ideas for alternative interfaces that offer you functional choices and are more transparent about what proportion of time you'll lose with one action, versus another. But it is a really deep philosophical question: what's genuinely worth your attention? On an interruptive basis? Do people even have the skills to answer that question? it is a really hard question; it isn't something we expect about. But, for now, it is a question that everyone must start asking.
