The soft light of twilight evening,
Time for the arrival of the stars,
A dance of shadows on the canvas of the sky,
Dreams that unfold quietly.
Beneath the silvery moonlight,
Nature's creatures lived with gentle grace.
Existence of all, born with life on earth,
Takes us to a mystical, sacred place.
How the moonbeams, they
Scatter the enchanting magic,
Painting the world in silver and gold.
Rivers sigh, brooks roar.
In the dark, dreams disappear,
Visions of the Unseen World,
Lost in imagination and lost.
Imagination rules, and the mind rejoices.
The preference for males in Asian communities is a common phenomenon, as supported by numerous surveys and reports. This ingrained preference, influenced by historical, cultural, and social factors, manifests in various aspects of life, from family dynamics to economic opportunities. But what is the primary reason behind this bias for men over women?
Historically, male preference was widespread because royal and common families could easily continue their bloodlines through male heirs. Men traditionally performed most of the physical and strenuous work, and even today, the legacy of this history endures, with men viewed as investments while women are often seen as financial burdens. As a result, men are granted more opportunities in education, job prospects, and even in terms of parental affection.
Using a personal example, I'd like to illustrate how men receive preferential treatment. A friend of mine, who has a sister but no brothers, has a male cousin who is particularly close to her mother. Her mother treats the cousin as if he were her own son, which is understandable given his parents' absence. However, my friend has noticed how much her mother favors him. She is frequently upset with my friend and her sister for minor things, while she consistently treats the cousin with warmth and kindness. The extent of pampering is such that her own daughters often feel neglected. Upon reflection, it's evident that this is a case of male preference, suggesting that her mother might have behaved differently if she had given birth to a boy, being gentler and kinder to her children while possibly neglecting her daughters.
Biases in favor of men are also evident in many family events. After a meal at gatherings hosted by family members, the men often leave their cutlery and plates on the table, with their wives left to clean up after them. This practice is baffling, especially when the sink is just a few inches or feet away from the table. The hosts themselves encourage this behavior, instructing the men to leave their plates, which are then picked up by their wives or the hosts. Men in these families are so pampered that they refuse to perform even the tiniest household chores.
Similarly, after marriage, the in-laws of the bride often expect her to take care of their son. While the wife is eating, one of her in-laws may demand that she iron their son's clothes for work the next day. This expectation is unreasonable, as men are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. In most cases in Asia, they are pampered to the point that they lack basic survival skills.
This is not to say that there are no self-sufficient men, but their numbers are relatively low in Asia due to the strong bias in favor of males. This prevailing stigma against women needs to end, and a more open-minded environment should be created. Favoring men doesn't benefit anyone; it only fosters laziness and dependency on others for basic needs.
Jealousy, a norm in life's grand ballet,
Some wear it openly, others in shadows stay.
In every facet, love, life, and more it plays,
A fleeting moment can unravel life's maze.
Jealousy, a tempest that hits so many,
They can't share their feelings, oh so uncanny.
It need not be displayed to all, we find,
But harboring it inside is not kind.
Jealousy, not confined to love's embrace,
It touches friendship, family, every space.
It's more about understanding than the bad,
A treasury of memories we've had.
In the shadows of despair, we often dwell,
Where life's harsh truths, like bitter tales, they tell.
But failure, my friend, is not the final song,
It's where the resilient learn to grow strong.
Each stumble, every setback, a chance to rise,
To see the world anew through wiser eyes.
In failures, seeds of future success we sow,
For in the darkest storms, our character will grow.
Don't fear the fall or the missteps you've made,
In failure's echo, there's wisdom to evade.
It's in our flaws that true strength takes its form,
As we rise, resilient, through life's storm.
So when the path seems lost, and hope feels dire,
Remember, from failure, you'll still aspire.
For in the depths of loss, there's a hidden treasure,
The resilience to rise, your ultimate measure.
One step I walk forward, my next chase.
Pointed shoes wrapped around the ankle.
The hem of the skirt dances like winter snow.
Slowly, I let go and wrap my arms.
The winter calls me in the eternal night.
Swinging my feet up high, I foresee.
The crystals rely on my eyes.
I watch the pretty flakes slowly fade away.
Vast winters and cold feet.
Golden footprints lead me through.
I stand in them, one for the front,
And another for her I see in my reflection.
Pearls of happiness and thunder of fears.
One breath claps the winter air.
I fall and stand between my dream and fear.
The one I look for, the ballet dream.
Hades, a well-known character in Greek mythology, is often associated with the underworld that bears his name. He is the son of Cronus and Rhea and the sibling of powerful gods such as Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. In the Greek pantheon, Hades is the ruler of the Underworld, also referred to as the land of the dead and the afterlife. This realm is depicted as a gloomy and dismal region where souls are judged and assigned eternal fates based on their life actions.
Hades is frequently depicted wearing an invisible helmet, which he used in the Titanomachy and subsequent battles between the Olympian gods and the Titans. While Hades is not as widely worshipped as other gods, he is symbolized by various objects, including the scepter, the three-headed dog Cerberus, and the helmet of darkness. His role as a deity of the afterlife is reflected in his position as king of the Underworld.
One of the most well-known stories involving Hades is the kidnapping of Persephone, the daughter of the agricultural deity Demeter. A deal was struck when Hades abducted Persephone and brought her to the Underworld, allowing her to spend half the year in the Underworld, symbolizing the barren seasons, and the other half with her mother on Earth, representing the fruitful and abundant seasons. According to popular belief, Hades was related to Plutus, the Greek god of riches. The theory that valuable materials and resources found in the Earth's depths, such as gold, silver, and diamonds, were seen as a part of the wealth of the Underworld helps to explain the connection between Hades and Plutus. In this sense, Hades served as both the protector of Earth's hidden treasures and the ruler of the dead.
In Greek mythology, death is an essential and natural part of the cycle of life and the natural order. The Greek religious system acknowledges death as a necessary part of life and accepts that it is inevitable. This is why the role played by Hades as the god of the underworld and the afterlife is of great significance in maintaining balance. Although he is associated with the Underworld and death, Hades is not typically portrayed as a cruel or malevolent god. He is often seen as a just and fair deity who impartially rules the afterlife.
Hades' domain and his role as the god of the afterlife symbolize the inevitable fate of death, which is an essential aspect of human existence and a concept that can be challenging to comprehend and accept. While his significance and unique position in the Greek pantheon are sometimes overshadowed by those of more famous deities like Zeus and Poseidon, Hades still holds a prominent place. His character and domain reflect the somber and mysterious nature of his realm.
In conclusion, Hades, the god of the Underworld in Greek mythology, is a complex and enigmatic figure who is often overshadowed by his more famous siblings in the Olympian pantheon. Nevertheless, his significance and symbolism are profound, offering insight into the intricate Greek conception of life, death, and the afterlife.
