Because of the grand event in our school, the school was very well decorated. The school had given a holiday for the students except for the participants. When I went to the school in the morning, the teachers were preparing for the event along with the students of Grade 10 as they were the main volunteers. I met my friends and we went to the music room. We were going to perform an instrumental Newari Dhun, ”Silu”. We did it a bit different this time as we used to play western instruments before. I was going to play the Sarangi. I had been practicing Sarangi for 2 weeks continuously as it was a new instrument for me. After we finished practicing, we went downstairs to take a look at the decorations. The stage was set and the sound system was being checked. Then, we went back to our class, played games and watched videos. At 12 p.m. we had our lunch and practiced again. The program was going to start at 3:20 p.m. The students from the dance club were dressed and ready to perform. The performers were in their respective rooms. Parents started to arrive. We were in grade 10. We did not get to practice after the program started. One by one the participants performed. The parents were having a good time. Then it was our turn to perform. I was nervous from the inside because it was a new instrument for me. The microphones were set up. We did not get to check if the microphones were working. I realized that my mic was not working. The curtains opened. The performance started but my mic was still not working. I just played my part but it was not audible to the audience. The performance was over. We bowed to the audience and the curtains closed. Two weeks of practice and my mic did not work. But I was happy because at least I got to learn to play Sarangi. We kept our instruments in the room and watched other performances.
The day I would be remembering the most in my future, is the day when our school organized a great grand program called Deerwalk Sifal Night II, in which various performances were done. I personally enjoyed a lot that day.
On 30th November 2018, our school organized a grand program in which parents were invited to see some of the creative performances of the students. The school was all decorated and looked amazing. All the decorations were very attractive. The decoration was appreciated by everyone. Parents were invited at 3:15 p.m. and the program started at 3:20 p.m. All the parents were amazed looking at the beautiful decoration of the school. The students and the teachers had put on a great effort. Starting from the entrance gate it was all decorated with colorful balloons and creative paper handicrafts. The stage was also very attractive. The parents were very excited to watch the performances. The program started with the national anthem followed by welcome speech and then there was a welcome dance performed by dance club students. All the audience enjoyed the energetic dance. It was wonderful. Later, parents also enjoyed music, drama, Chinese and Sanskrit speech, dance, fashion show and many more which was very unique.
By the time, the program came to an end. The closing dance was done by the club students. It was very nice. At last, Our principal sir gave a short speech. After that, the students went back home with their parents. It was a well-spent day for me and I really enjoyed my day. The day will always be one of the memorable days for me.

On September 11th, our school celebrated Children’s Day. All the teachers were fully prepared. All the students were happy to celebrate the recent program. First it was a poem, which was interesting and wonderful. It was quite an amazing day for all the students. Our class teachers and advisors provided us with chocolates. At last, all of us queued according to each class, and teachers called class by class to give us cake. I just want to thank all the teachers for successfully conducting the program.
On 7th September, the students of our school celebrated the World Literacy Day. I was excited and nervous as well. I woke up at around 5 am. I brushed my teeth, washed my face and started to study at around 6:00 am. Then I realized that we had the Literacy Day celebration in our school. We also had a book exhibition. The students shared their ideas and thoughts to the teachers and the guardians. Some of the juniors also performed an informative drama. My group and I had to perform a skit. I along with my friends Dawa and Toran had planned something for that day. Unfortunately, Toran was absent on that day. After that Dawa and I paired up with Ashrab and Shreeya. We had to share what we had learnt from the book, “Things Fall Apart.” We decorated the chart papers, and we had written the characters from that book in it. We came up with an idea to make a tree by Glaze paper, and some of the leaves which fell down to represent the topic of the book, “Things Fall Apart.” Moreover, we had a lot of fun and got to learn a lot that day.
We celebrated literacy day on September 7th. Works were divided to each and every one of us two days earlier. My group and I were going to explain things that we learnt from some of the Nepali Novels which we had read. We were three members squad but one of us was absent so she was replaced by another member. The program was held on the last period. We were provided three periods to prepare for the program. In those three periods, we all were busy in preparing for the event. And finally, in the last period we went to our stall and waited for the visitors. The lower graders were performing a skit while we went out for our turn. It was a sunny day. I think the program would have been better if the stalls were under some kind of shed which would have saved us from the heat of the day. Overall, the program was really enjoyable.
On Sept. 7th, 2018, Deerwalk Sifal School organized a Literacy Day programme for all the students. We, all the students arrived at school. After greeting each other and our teachers, we all headed towards our classroom. As the programme was scheduled for the last four periods, the day had begun with our first period when our English teacher came and explained us the chapter two of the novel named “Lord of flies.” After the period was over, the second period was followed with computer. The computer teacher took us to the computer lab. After the second period, we could not continue our third period because the desks and the chairs were taken for the programme. So, Mr. Tej came and asked us to have our group work to prepare our work for the exhibition. We all were very excited to show our work in the programme. Without delaying any further time we started to prepare the programme. Many junior siblings performed dramas which was also quite interesting. I also wanted to perform a drama but I could not. We explained our book talk to our teachers and our junior siblings. They all liked and praised our work. Their liking and praising motivated us to do more and more in the future. Overall, the Literacy Day programme was very interesting and beneficial. At 3:35 the school bell rang and we all departed to our home.
Today I woke up early in the morning and also woke up my sister who was sleeping by my side. After doing my daily routine I went on checking my social networking sites to get updated and to start reading the messages sent by my friends and relatives. Instantaneously, I remembered about the Literacy Day Programme that our school was organizing today. Excitement was within me along with the nervousness. I opened my bookcase and took out the book named Karnali Blues straight away as I had to write a book talk on it; and started searching some of the important points from the novel and listed them down in my notebook. After having my breakfast, I got my school bag ready and headed towards the school with my father and my sister. As usual, I reached my school at 8:45 in the morning and greeted my friends and my teachers. After that we all went to our classroom with our bag. After some time our class teacher entered the classroom and told us a little about the importance of education and literacy in anyone’s life. Then, our normal classes continued till the second period; we had our five minutes break after the second period. After the break time was over, our class advisor Mr. Tej Prasad Kafle entered the classroom and asked us to discuss the preparation we had made with our group partners for the programme. Following his orders, we discussed the topic that was to be presented today and also went to get the necessary equipments needed for the event. My group partner and I decorated the chart paper with borders, plot and setting of the novel “Karnali Blues,” which was finished around 2:20 in the afternoon. We went around the school ground where the book stalls were already with the grade name on it.
We presented our project to our teachers and our junior siblings. We had a lot of fun presenting the project. I want to thank my school and my teachers for conducting such an entertaining and beneficial programme for the students on the occasion of Literacy Day.
