Deerwalk Poetry Night
- Shreeya Sitaula - 2021020, Gr ... 13 October, 2019

It was a cloudy day. It was the day that my fellows and I had been waiting for a very long time. I woke up and went to school earlier than other days. As me and my friends walked around chatting with each other, I could see other students dressed up in formal attire like me and some of my friends. After all, it was Deerwalk Poetry Night.

After a long procedure, the finalists of the Deerwalk Poetry Night were selected and I was one of them. Altogether there were 31 participants, 15 from English language and 16 from Nepali language. As the competition began, I started getting really nervous which affected my performance. Saisha Pudasaini was declared as the winner of English language and Manasbhi Niraula of Nepali language. Manasbhi Niraula was also the level champion of lower school in both Nepali and English language while Saisha Pudasaini was the level champion of high school in English language category. Besides them, Sunabi and Anushree from middle school and Arunesh from high school were also the level champions.

Poetry has always fascinated me. However, I could not meet my expectations this time which made me feel like I was falling behind. I had no confidence in me or rather I had given up before I even performed. My stage fright ruined my whole performance as I stood there whole-heartedly dejected. I learned that confidence always does miracles in every performance, and lack of confidence is something that ruins it.

Live Today
- Asha Dahal - 2021005, Grade X ... 20 August, 2019

Past, present, and future are all relative terms. Future becomes present and present becomes past. Yesterday is a remembrance only while tomorrow in today's dream. One cannot rectify the past and is not sure of tomorrow. So the best thing is not to make today as useful as it can be. Why should we worry about dead yesterday and unborn tomorrow? The present time is precious and if it is gone, it cannot be regained. Lost time and spoken words can never get back. Many people have the habit of postponement which is the main reason for living a worthless life. History is full with examples to prove all those who postponed their work for tomorrow, lagged behind and others took over them. Instead of living today, if we live in the past or try to live in the future, victory turn into defeats and profits get converted into losses. Here are some interesting lines that tell us what will happen if we do not understand the value of time and if we do not do it today-now.

To realize the value of 1 week, ask a weekly editor.

To realize the value of 9 years, ask a student who has failed in the exam.

To realize the value of 1 day, ask a daily wage laborer.

To realize the value of 1 hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of 1 minute, ask the person who has missed the train.

To realize the value of 1 sec, ask the people who have survived an accident.

Hence, we should always be aware that to be successful in life we have to live today and do everything that we have to do right now. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift of good. We should accept it with open arms.
