Differences
- Manaswi Sapkota - 26004, Grad ... 11 May, 2021

At a very young age, we are all taught that everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way. As we grow up we notice that the people around us don’t really think the same. They tend to believe that not everyone should get equal rights either because of their skin color, their ethnicity, their religion, their looks, the way they dress, their sexuality, etc. Basically, people tend to judge others or exclude them from activities just because they aren’t the same.

When we were kids we didn't really care about looks or religion, we just looked for friends to have fun with. As we grow older we start to notice that people around us don’t think the same so we start seeing others differently and exclude them if they’re not like us. Of course, that’s not the case with everyone. There are people who don’t get influenced by the surroundings and treat everyone the same and we all are said to be like them. Now the society is gradually changing, most people don’t judge others based on the above-mentioned factors.

Humans have slowly come to a realization that not everyone is the same, they all have their own weaknesses and strengths. Everyone has their own way of expressing and doing things. If some dance when they are happy others may sleep when they are happy. Uniqueness is what makes things fun.

Of course, there are still some people in society who believe that everyone should be the same. We need to educate these people by spreading awareness and consulting them. There are many people in this world who don’t consider non-office-related jobs as jobs. They think non-office jobs will never help you in life and just pressurize you to study. Young artists and writers are not encouraged and supported to do what they want since it won’t “help” them in life. People need to understand that not supporting others for what they like to do won’t make them a great person, it’ll just make them an enemy or a bad person in the other person’s eyes.

Differences exist and there’s nothing wrong with being different since it makes us unique in our own way. It’s not like being different matters cause in the end we’re all humans and we live in a society full of differences and differences are exactly what make this life journey fun and amazing so rather than pushing away people who aren’t like you, you should try understanding them. Differences might be hard to accept but if you never try to understand them and accept them they’ll not make things easier for you instead they’ll just make you feel guilty and bad. In the end, we’re all beautiful and unique in our own way and no one can stop us from being ourselves so let’s just enjoy living how we want.

- Rushina Tamang - 26008, Grade ... 10 May, 2021

Discrimination Based On Gender
- Aayusi Shrestha - 26002, Grad ... 09 May, 2021

Discrimination is when someone is treated unfairly and badly. Gender discrimination means treating an individual differently based upon his or her gender. Mainly in villages girls and boys are treated differently. Girls and women are treated unfairly than boys. Many girls in the villages are uneducated and do household chores all day, while the boys go to school. Many girls, especially those from the poorest families, still face gender discrimination in education. Though people are aware of gender discrimination but some are not and alot of people have to go through this. Most people believe that only girls are discriminated against but boys are discriminated against too. People often say that boys aren't as discriminated against as girls. Even though the rate of boys being discriminated against is much lesser than girls, people still need to understand that boys are also discriminated against. If a girl wears short clothes then she is judged by the society and if a girl wears kurtas then she is judged too. If a boy paints his nails, wears skirts, puts on makeup or uses accessories and pink stuff then he is considered as less men. People need to stop thinking this and start treating everyone equally. Discrimination can lead people into depression and can even make them suicidal. Gender inequality is one of the biggest problems in the world. The fact that it still exists and makes a lot of people suffer its consequences every day. Gender discrimination cannot be solved easily. However, with progressive thoughts of people and education, we have to trust gender inequality being stopped in the future. Hopefully, one day people can live a fair life no matter what gender they belong to.

Climate Change
- Rushav Paneru - 28018, Grade ... 06 May, 2021

The largest driver of warming is the emission of greenhouse gases, of which more than 90% are carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane. Fossil fuel burning (coal, oil, and natural gas) for energy consumption is the main source of these emissions, with additional contributions from agriculture, deforestation, and manufacturing. The human cause of climate change is not disputed by any scientific body of national or international standing. Temperature rise is accelerated or tempered by climate feedbacks, such as loss of sunlight-reflecting snow and ice cover, increased water vapor (a greenhouse gas itself), and changes to land and ocean carbon sinks.

Temperature rise on land is about twice the global average increase, leading to desert expansion and more common heat waves and wildfires Temperature rise is also amplified in the Arctic, where it has contributed to melting permafrost, glacial retreat, and sea ice loss. Warmer temperatures are increasing rates of evaporation, causing more intense storms and weather extremes. Impacts on ecosystems include the relocation or extinction of many species as their environment changes, almost immediately in coral reefs, mountains, and the Arctic. Climate change threatens people with food insecurity, water scarcity, flooding, infectious diseases, extreme heat, economic losses, and displacement. These impacts have led the World Health Organization to call climate change the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century. Even if efforts to minimize future warming are successful, some effects will continue for centuries, including rising sea levels, rising ocean temperatures, and ocean acidification.

Some impacts of climate change are:

Tidal flooding. Sea-level rise increases flooding in low-lying coastal regions.

Many of these impacts are already felt at the current level of warming, which is about 1.2 °C (2.2 °F). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued a series of reports that project significant increases in these impacts as warming continues to 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) and beyond. Additional warming also increases the risk of triggering critical thresholds called tipping points. Responding to climate change involves mitigation and adaptation. Mitigation – limiting climate change – consists of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and removing them from the atmosphere; methods include the development and deployment of low-carbon energy sources such as wind and solar, a phase-out of coal, enhanced energy efficiency, reforestation, and forest preservation. Adaptation consists of adjusting to the actual or expected climate, such as improved coastline protection, better disaster management, assisted colonization, and the development of more resistant crops. Adaptation alone cannot avert the risk of "severe, widespread and irreversible" impacts.

Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, nations collectively agreed to keep warming "well under 2.0 °C (3.6 °F)" through mitigation efforts. However, with pledges made under the Agreement, global warming would still reach about 2.8 °C (5.0 °F) by the end of the century. Limiting warming to 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) would require halving emissions by 2030 and achieving near-zero emissions by 2050. China is at the top of the list of producing greenhouse gases like Co2. China produces almost 10.3 billion metric tons of co2 per year. A normal 1-year-old baby produces 5 metric tons of Co2 in one year. So, China and all the other developed countries must use solar energy and renewable energy instead of fossil fuels and all the other in-development countries must try their best to use renewable sources of energy.

- Sauharda Bajracharya - 26010, ... 05 May, 2021

How I spend my leisure time.
- Prasiddhi Dangol - 28009, Gra ... 05 May, 2021

Dear people, I want to share how I spend my leisure time. Starting up with activities, after I finish my works, l always like to do something creative like art and crafts, it also helps me express my feelings.l also like to write poems. l am not really good at expressing myself but when l start writing l get many ideas automatically and I feel very happy. l also do read new books because reading is a lifelong skill and successful people never stop reading new books.

I also engage myself in exercises because physical exercise is important for both physical and mental health.l also like to learn new things and cultivate social connections, take care of my health and wellbeing. I love keeping journals and training myself to calm my mind.

Setting up new goals and seeing how to achieve them is my priority for now. It feels good to notice our true feelings and get to know ourselves better. In my view, we should listen to our inner voices and often get connected to nature around us. This is how I usually find peace of mind. I also like to stay alone for some period of time if I have to do something without interruption. But if I have spare time, I would prefer to stay with my family to enjoy the free time. I really enjoy being alone during weekends, I love reading books just to escape myself from the physical world. I do like to help my family, meditate, set goals and pay close attention to my emotions.

Spending time alone makes me more confident. Unconfident people often rely on others to help with decisions, but spending time alone encourages me to make decisions for myself. When l am alone, l can ignore other people's opinions and ideas so that I can really focus on  my own thoughts. Our minds are always busy with duties, responsibilities and worries, hence our thoughts are about making ourselves happy.

 Autobiography of a lonely dog
- Aakanchya Khadka - 27001, Gra ... 04 May, 2021

I was a street dog in Kathmandu city. My mom passed when she gave birth to me . My sibling did not make it up with me. It was hard to get food for me. I still remember it was mid-winter days in kathmandu. I was still a puppy. I was very cold outside in the streets of Kathmandu. I was searching for a warm place to sleep at night and eventually I found a small cardboard box with some old clothes to sleep with .Then the next morning as I woke and found a person staring at me. I was shocked for a while .That day many people came across my box and some even gave me food . It was the happiest day of my life. That day some kid  came to me and also had a puppy with them and played with me. Then one of the kids among them  eventually adopted me. They fed me well and took nice care of me. I was a street dog so I did not know how to live there. There also was a dog who was loved by everybody as she was obedient and did not bother anyone. Her name was given by their grandmother .Her name was Kanchi. As I got bigger I was moved to the terrace with kanchi .She did not like me in the beginning but we had to stay together so we had to make it . It was not as big as the street though but it was better than nothing. I was a playful puppy while Kanchi was always sleepy . Whenever I tried to play with her she was angry . I did not know much about living on the terrace so I was a bit messy. I used to love playing with clothes and stuff hanging around the rope. I got a lot of complaints from my neighbours and people living on rent in that house . I was sad . So, they always used to lock me up in my cage. Many months went and people kept complaining and they kept me in adoption but no one wanted me so, they had to take care of me .They found out I was not very happy and had small place as I was a street dog and had been staying in an open area so, they took me to their village and kept me their .WOW ! it was a beautiful place . I loved it and it was filled with nature . It has been two months now, I have made a lot of new friends .There are a lot of places for me to get to know and I am so happy to stay here. Sometimes I miss kanchi but she comes to visit me once in a while . I am so thankful to live here than in Kathmandu city. It's beautiful here!

Panchayat System of Nepal
- Roji Gurung - 26007, Grade VI ... 03 May, 2021

Due to the jealousy of the popularity of B.P Koirala and Democracy, King Mahendra dismissed B.P Koirala’s government and started the Panchayat system in Nepal from 1st poush, 2017 B.S. King Mahendra seized democracy and took all the power in his hand. He banned all the political parties of Nepal. There were many causes of the Panchayat System in Nepal. Some of them are:

  • Although democracy was introduced in Nepal by ending Ranarchy in 2007 B.S. people could not get full rights.

  • Kings were concentrated only to be powerful.

  • People were illiterate.

  • The parliamentary system was new for Nepal.

  • Freedom, fundamental rights, and human rights hindered.

  • It was the autocratic rule and the lower bodies had to follow everything ordered by the high bodies.

Political parties played a great role in ending the Panchayat system in Nepal. Some of them are:

  • A peaceful movement known as Satyagraha for democracy was launched by the Nepali Congress and was ferried by the Panchayat force. So, political parties united and started a mass movement from 7th falgun 2046 B.S.

  • Political parties encouraged common people to fight and unite against the Panchayat System.

  • Political Parties mobilize people properly at the time of the People’s Movements 2046 B.S.

  • Leaders of political parties had a meeting with King Birendra and they reinstated democracy in Nepal.

All these were the backgrounds of the Panchayat System ruling over Nepal. The Panchayat System was there in Nepal for 30 years. Several changes have been seen after the reestablishment and reinstatement of democracy in Nepal. People became more politically aware. Several political parties were established. People got their rights and freedom. The National Human Rights Commission was established as the constitutional organ. Independent Judiciary has been established which has been protecting people’s rights. Since then, many sectors have been developed that have ensured better quality of life.
