A visit to Narayanhiti Palace Museum
- Shreeya Sitaula - 20014, Grad ... 04 April, 2019

On January 29th, 2011, the students of grade 1, 8 and 10 were taken to Narayanhiti Palace Museum as a field trip: my friends and I were utterly excited as many of us went to the Palace for the first time. Our excitement was geared up as soon as we headed towards our destination - Narayanhiti Palace Museum. At around 11:15 AM, we finally reached the Narayanhiti Palace Museum.

The outside view of the Palace was not so mesmerizing. So I thought it would seem to be small when people look at it from outside. But as soon as we entered the gate of the Palace, I was surprised because the palace had covered a very large area. The palace was very beautiful inside, with many eye-catching decors. After all, it's the place where the late King of Nepal and his family resided. The Palace was really big but many places were a bit unmanaged. For instance, there was no water in a pond

The main purpose of our visit was to learn and observe the place. We observed each and everything very carefully and we even asked the staff of the museum about many things. We also visited the place in the palace where the massacre of the royal family took place. The marks of the bullets fired on the royal family was seen in many walls. The places where the dead bodies of the members of the royal family were found was also mentioned there. Everyone started to gossip about the massacre as the massacre of the royal family is still a mystery. But in no time, only gossips came to an end as we had to return to school.

This day was indeed an informative day for me. I had always wanted to know about the lavish lifestyle of the King. This day provoked my never-ending thoughts about the probability of Nepal being a Kingdom again.

Visit To Zoo
- Supriya Rana Magar - 19018, G ... 31 March, 2019

October 7, 2018

Today, we the students of Grade 10 went to the Central Zoo, located at Jawalakhel for a field visit. Everything went on as planned. I woke up early in the morning, packed my bags, had my breakfast and got ready for school. I reached school at 8:30 AM sharp. After almost an hour we left for Jawalakhel in our school van. We reached there at 10:30 AM. Our EPH teacher, Mr. Kuldeep Gupta bought tickets for us and then we clicked a group picture in the entrance gate. After we entered inside, we first saw a crocodile. Our teacher told us to take photos and note down the details given over there. Heading on our way, we saw different animals of different species and mocked at each other. After 45 minutes, we took a break and ate our lunch. By 12:00 PM we finished our lunch and watching animals so we planned to go for boating. It was at our own risk. However, taking the risks into consideration we decided to take two boats: 6 members in each.

It was a well-taken decision as boating became the most memorable part of the visit. After finishing boating, we headed back to our school by our school van at 1:15 PM. There were lovely songs being played in the van which added more fun to the trip. Around 2 PM we reached our school. We were very tired so we took rest for a couple of minutes in our classroom. There were still two periods left for our classes to get over. We were so tired that we wanted to spend the classes without studying. Luckily, through our teacher, Mr. Tej, we found out that we didn’t have to study. We were called out to join the video shoot that was being shot for our Dashain and Tihar greetings. At 4:15 PM we all returned home.

I had been there numerous times but probably because I was with my friends, this visit to the zoo will remain as the most memorable zoo visit.

Journal on Narayanhiti Palace
- Sandhya Sah - 20013, Grade IX ... 25 March, 2019

We the students of standard 8, 9 and 10 Deerwalk Sifal School had a field trip. We all were very excited to know just the name of the place. Finally, it was Narayanhiti Palace, also called Narayanhiti Durbar. We had a fixed time for the visit. We departed around 11 am from school and reached the palace at 11:25.

The palace is located at Kathmandu, Nepal. We were very eager. Firstly, we clicked a group photo and headed into the palace. The royal palace was huge and fascinating.

From the entry gate, we saw an enormous door. The palace was the center of state occasions and hospitality was also royal. The Durbar is currently as a public museum. The current Durbar was built by King Mahendra in 1963. The palace stands on the floor space of 3,794 m.sq. (40838.28 sq.ft.) and divided into three categories, the guest wing, the state wing, and the private wing. It has 52 rooms and all are given the name of 75 districts of Nepal. As soon as we entered through the doorway we saw a reception hall which is named as Kaski District. The hall is decorated with two full-size Bengal tigers in charging posture haunted by King Mahendra and King Birendra along with life-size portraits of the Shah monarchs throughout the stairs by artist, Amar Chitrakar. Gaurishankar gate opens for performing oath ceremony of Prime Minister and head of constitutional bodies for the Kingdom of Nepal.

It was in Narayanhiti Palace, where the scene of 2001 Nepalese Royal massacre took place. The whole palace was very huge and there were several caretakers of the palace. The security was very high. Finally, the royal palace is now turned into a public museum. The crown jewels are considered as the most precious and valuable objects in Nepal.

A Visit to Narayanhiti Durbar
- Krish Tamang - 20006, Grade I ... 16 March, 2019

Today, the school was going to take us to the former residence of the Royal family, Narayanhiti Durbar. It was a part of our social studies topic. I went to school and met my friends. Then, we went to our class. The first period was Maths. In the second period, we were asked to be on the ground. The students of Grade 8 and 10 went there with us too. Mr. Nirmal, Ms. Indira, Mr. Ariun and Ms. Mazina went with us as well. We got on the bus and went to the palace. The tickets were given to us and we took a group photo. We went inside the palace gate. We had a security check. We got our tickets checked and entered the palace. The interior was magnificent. There were statues of different animals on the stairway to the palace. There was a carpet made of a bear that the king had killed. There were two dead tigers in the stair as a part of the decoration. There were many photos of the kings of Nepal. We saw the rooms that were separated for the guests of each district. There were separate rooms for a birthday celebration, Dashain celebration, and Janai Purnima. The heads of reindeer and buffalos were kept on the walls as decoration. There were photos of the king of Nepal meeting different guests. A dead crocodile was kept on the wall as a part of the decoration. We also saw the rooms of the king and the makeup room of the Queen as well. The medals that the kings had received was also kept there. My favorite part of the palace was the throne of the king. The room was beautiful. We also saw the crown (Sri-Pech) of the kings. I wondered if the jewels of the crown were real or not. Then, we went to the backside of the palace where the massacre happened. There were bullet marks along the walls and a pond where Prince King Dipendra was found injured and unconscious. There was a billiard room where the king and the queen were killed. We also roamed around the pond which was not well maintained. Then we went out of the palace and took a group photo. After that, we left for school. When we arrived at school, we were tired and dizzy because of the sun. Then, we studied in the rest of other periods and went home.

Hindu Mythology and the Modern Science
- Aashrab Khanal - 20021, Grade ... 22 January, 2019

After thousands of years, from the time when the Mahabharat ended and today, when the modern science has emerged at its peak, humanity has realized similarities between Mahabharata and the Modern science. I also realized this thing at the Parents Talk Program held at Phewa hall. A father of one of the students of our school was there to present about the topic. He presented amazing things about the similarities between Mahabharata and the modern science. I would like to  mention the things he presented in front of grade 8 and 9. Mahabharata and modern science have many things in similar. The first inventions of human civilization was wheels but it was already discovered and used in Chariot wheels- so called Rath in Mahabharat. In the Mahabharata, the total estimated death was around 1.6 billion which is only possible by nuclear weapon, in today's context! The concept of transplantation was present in Mahabharat era. For instance, Ganesh had an elephant’s head and a human body. Time travel was done by King Kakudmi who travels to meet the creator Brahma. Another amazing thing is that, there were already flying vehicles(Vimana) in Mahabharat. Two lines of “Hanuman Chalisa” states the distance  of earth from the sun and which is 153,600,000 km. In the 17th century, scientists calculated the distance of of earth from the sun which is real close to the distance measured in our ancient mythology. There is also a science in worshipping Peepal tree and Tulsi tree. Peepal is probably the only tree which produces oxygen even at night. So in order to save the tree we worship it. Similarly, Tulsi has a lot of benefits, so we worship it. The reason we should not sleep with head towards the north is because our body’s magnetic field will be similar to the Earth's one and it causes problem like headache, high blood pressure and in long term it causes problems like Alzheimer, Cognitive decline, etc. There is a reason and science in our religious belief. There is a big relation between the modern science and the hindu mythology which will surely unfold as the days go by.

Parents Talk Programme
- Simon Sangat - 20015, Grad ... 08 January, 2019

On October 8th, 2018, we, students of grade 8 and 9 got the opportunity to learn about ‘Google’ on a Parent Talk Show Programme from Mr. Sagun Dhungana. We learned that Google is a search engine and we can get all sorts of information on Google. Google utilizes the information shared by sites and applications to deliver data to us. Google is one of the biggest search engine on the World Wide Web(WWW) handling more than three billion searches each day. Google's main objective is to organize the worldwide information and make it universally available and accessible to each and every corner of the world. Without search engines like Google, it is practically hard and failing to find any information on the internet. We also got a chance to know about ‘Web Crawling’. It is processed by which Google bot searches for new and apprised sites to add it to the Google Index. We use a huge set of servers to fetch( or crawl) billions of pages on the web. The program that performs this fetching is called Spider. Google knows a lot of things about you than you think it does. Once we become part of the global citizens, the world recognizes us and we are connected to the whole world. The global citizen is basically someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community’s values and practices. Today, the forces of global engagement are helping some people to identify themselves as global citizens who have a sense of belonging to the world community. Google just connects our answer by crawling and this is the way by which we can know what is happening out there in the world. We cannot always say the Google is right in many ways and it can present itself to be wrong. Mainly it cannot be trusted with keeping our information private. So coming up to this point, we really got to know so much about a search engine. The results that are displayed are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as search engine result pages. The information provided by search engines might collective include images, videoes, web pages and other different formats of data. So these were the things that we learned from the Parent Talk Show Programme explained by Mr.Sagun Dhungana.
