Lily and Ben’s Story
- Riddhis Sharma - 26006, Grade ... 11 December, 2023

In a small town called Woodland, there lived a curious young girl named Lily. Lily was imaginative and adventurous. She often explored the woods near her home with her best friend, Ben.

One sunny afternoon, while Lily and Ben were playing near a giant oak tree, they discovered something amazing: a hidden door under the tree! They were very surprised and curious to know what was behind it.

While their hearts were pounding with excitement, Lily and Ben opened the door and found a ladder leading up to the tree. They climbed higher and were surprised to find a small house hidden in a tree branch.

But this wasn't just a treehouse; it was magical! There were books that could transport them to distant lands and paintings on the walls that came to life when they touched them. There were also talking animals, like a wise old owl and a mischievous squirrel.

Lily and Ben spent the day in the treehouse, having amazing adventures. They visited a castle in the land of talking animals, explored the deep sea on a submarine, and even traveled back in time to meet famous people from history.

One day, they discovered a magic map in the treehouse that showed them a place called Enchanted Lake. The map said that whoever finds the enchanted lake will be granted a special wish.

Lily and Ben decided to embark on a new adventure and find the enchanting lake. They followed the map through the forest, crossed a rickety bridge, and finally reached a beautiful sparkling lake surrounded by bright flowers.

When they dipped their fingers in the water, the lake's surface sparkled, and a friendly water spirit appeared. He asked them what their wish was. Lily and Ben thought for a moment and decided to wish for happiness and kindness to their town.

The water spirit granted their wish, and they returned to Woodland. To their surprise, the town was filled with happiness and kindness. Everyone helped each other, and the whole town was like one big family.

Lily and Ben realized that the real magic was the kindness they had always held in their hearts, and the treehouse helped them discover that. They continued to visit the treehouse, experiencing exciting adventures, but they also shared their newfound kindness with everyone they met.

The Magic Tree House became a special place in Woodland, where children came to live their adventures and discover the magic of kindness. Lily and Ben knew that kindness was the most magical thing and that it could make the world a better place.

Since that day, the town of Woodland has lived in joy and kindness, and the magical treehouse continues to be a place of wonder and imagination for generations to come. Lily and Ben's adventures taught them that true magic can be found in kindness and that it can create a better world for everyone.

भावनाहरू
- Phoebe Shrestha - 26016, Grad ... 08 December, 2023

How To Write More Effectively
- Abhinna Thapa - 27020, Grade ... 08 December, 2023

Good writing is easy to understand. Share your studies in a simple way, without using confusing or difficult words. Use language to express your thoughts clearly so that readers can easily grasp your message.

In any piece of writing, having a clear and concise main idea is crucial. This idea serves as the foundation and backbone of your writing, guiding readers and demonstrating what your writing is about. Before you start, think about and establish the main idea to ensure your writing is purposeful and coherent. Organize the content with proper research, structure, and a sense of order, as well-organized writings are generally well-received. Structure your content with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Use paragraphs to break down complex concepts and employ bullet points and headlines for better organization and clarity.

Editing, the process of fixing and improving mistakes, is essential. It involves more than just correcting errors; it requires consideration of information, feelings, and emotions. After your initial draft, review and correct mistakes, checking for grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Ensure every word is accurate and contributes to the clarity and understanding of your writing. Seek input from others or explore various platforms to enhance your writing.

Make an effort to vary the length and structure of your sentences and paragraphs, keeping your writing interesting and engaging. A balanced approach prevents monotony, as excessively short or long passages can lead to boredom. Active words add strength and impact to your writing, avoiding the use of awkward phrases.

Consider your expression of language; tailor it to the mood and purpose of your writing. Adjust your tone for different situations, whether serious, light-hearted, or creative. Provide details, information, and research to make your writing more vivid and sensible, engaging readers and allowing them to visualize and connect with your content.

Reading extensively broadens your perspective and helps you learn new words and writing styles. Observe effective techniques in other writings and incorporate them into your own work.

Improving your writing takes time, practice, and patience. Focus on keeping your writing clear, organized, and adaptable. Whether you're a professional writer or someone exploring the craft, developing your writing skills enhances communication and makes your content accessible and understandable to readers. Embrace authenticity by portraying your unique voice and perspectives, and use simple words that resonate with everyday experiences. Express your emotions, engage with struggles, and be real in your writing. Embrace imperfections, as relatable and genuine writing is often more appreciated. Find ways to connect emotionally with your audience through creativity and genuine expression. Use language that vividly describes situations, engaging the senses and drawing readers into your writing.

Are you good, are you bad?
- Manaswi Sapkota - 26004, Grad ... 07 December, 2023

We can generally classify people as good or bad. ‘Good’ meaning desirable and good doers, and ‘bad’ being undesirable, consisting of people who often act morally and lawfully wrong. As society progresses, I feel as though the line between good and bad is getting blurred, which makes me question: Aren’t good and bad just human constructs?

A person being good or bad is highly dependent on the circumstances. For instance, having a luxurious mansion is a good thing because it allows a person to live very comfortably. However, if a murder were to happen in that mansion, it becomes a danger to the owners, as they could become the victims as well. At that moment, not having that mansion doesn’t sound too bad. This example illustrates how the perception of good and bad can dramatically shift based on the situation. Similarly, humans too should be classified as good or bad based on the circumstance. This illustrates how various situations can affect how a person is perceived.

While dividing people as good and bad, it is important to take into consideration that extremes in these classifications can be problematic, as neither constant happiness nor constant misery is ideal. This is because being too happy at a person's funeral is rude; hence, it is never too good to be happy all the time. At the same time, if someone is having a wedding, you cannot mope around all day, as it would ruin the couple's experience.

The division between good and bad often overlooks the vast spectrum of situations in the real world. When someone commits a crime, our immediate reaction is to label them as "bad." However, if we go deeper, we realize that there are instances where such actions may be justifiable. This is the importance of having a more undivided perspective, seeing the world not as black and white but as an array of colors, each representing a unique context.

As I have said earlier, human perception of good and bad is heavily subjective. It depends on social, cultural, and traditional values. That is because, to Hindus, any person who consumes cows is bad because in their caste, it is a crime punishable by going to hell. But at the same time, to a person who has grown up in a totally different environment, wouldn’t find any harm in eating cows. This is another example of how good and bad are biased. Similarly, intent also sways a person’s judgment of who is good and who is bad. If a person were to kill someone, they are wrong and bad. But in the case that the murder was to defend themselves or someone else, they would be deemed as a hero. This is how intent plays an important role in dividing good and bad.

In the end, whether you are good or bad is nothing more than human ideas. This is due to the fact that a person is classified as bad or good not based on hard facts, but also on societal norms, values, moral values, circumstances, and intentions. We should strive to look beyond the surface and decide what really makes ‘good’ good and ‘bad’ bad.

The Last Monarch of Nepal
- Aavash Malla - 26001, Grade X ... 05 December, 2023

Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, the final reigning monarch of Nepal and a member of the Shah dynasty, is a significant historical figure in the country's history. Born in 1947, Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev is a notable figure in Nepalese history as the last member of the Shah family to rule the country.

He was the second son of King Mahendra and Queen Indra Rajya Laxmi. Gyanendra is descended from a long-standing Nepalese royal line, the Shah dynasty. He was introduced to the traditions and practices of the Nepalese monarchy during his early schooling as a young prince. The rights and obligations that accompanied his royal rank shaped his early years. In 1972, Gyanendra's life changed dramatically with the accession of his elder brother, King Birendra, to the throne. Gyanendra served in the military and held various roles in the administration when Birendra was king, gaining experience for a future role in the monarchy. The circumstances surrounding Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev's ascension to the Nepali monarchy were peculiar and sad. Something terrible happened in the Narayanhiti Royal Palace in Kathmandu on the evening of June 1, 2001. Gyanendra's nephew and heir apparent, Crown Prince Dipendra, went on a shooting spree that claimed the lives of several royal members of the family, including Queen Aishwarya, King Birendra, Gyanendra's elder brother, and other relatives. Gyanendra personally served as the chairman of the Council of Ministers, which decided to crown him as monarch. On June 4, 2001, this choice was announced.

During his reign, King Gyanendra took an active part in Nepalese politics. In 2002, he overthrew the democratically elected government, alleging its inability to effectively manage the Maoist insurgency that had been waging since 1996. Political instability and protests were sparked by his assumption of executive powers. During his rule, the Maoist insurgency became more violent, growing despite efforts to end it, resulting in serious fighting and losses. King Gyanendra made a contentious move in February 2005 when he once again overthrew the elected government and assumed full authority. Numerous people opposed this action, sparking countrywide demonstrations and calls for the return of democracy. A large-scale demonstration in 2006, called Jana Andolan II or People's Movement, compelled King Gyanendra to renounce his executive authority and reinstate the House of Representatives. The People's Movement of 2006, referred to as Jana Andolan II, marked the beginning of the monarchy's downfall. The fall of the democratically elected government in 2005 signaled the start of King Gyanendra's direct rule, which was the subject of this massive protest movement. The people's movement was an anti-autocratic countrywide demonstration against the king's policies.

Nepal's history underwent a significant and profound shift with the fall of the monarchy. With the transition from a monarchy to a federal democratic republic, it signaled a significant change in Nepal's political system. The People's Movement of 2006 was a large-scale demonstration against King Gyanendra's despotic leadership that set off the collapse of the monarchy. On May 28, 2008, the monarchy was formally abolished as a result of subsequent political accords and the election of the Constituent Assembly in April 2008.
