On 7th September 2018, there was a literacy day program in our school. We had a lot of fun that day. When we reached our school, in circle time our class teacher Ms. Roma came and told us about that day and who were selected for our storytelling. I was also one of them. After circle time our first period was Nepali. We didn’t study but we made what we were going to do in the presentation with our group and we made a character sketch. We already had made a chart paper sketch in English; The BFG so, it was easy for us to prepare the Nepali one describing  “वनभोजको फूल”. And we were able to make it easily and nicely. I was not there with my group for around 20 minutes as I have been to the sketch and story-telling. We also asked for a chart paper, marker and kite paper from Ms. Yukta. Our sister Monika also helped us. After some time she had to go to her class so she left. After some time we were said to assemble in the ground with our works. And parents, friends, brother, and sister including even my mother and father were there to congratulate us. I felt very proud to be the group captain. We also did a lot of hard work during that day.

Bhadra 31, Sunday My school organized hiking. I remember it was last Sunday. A day before hiking I had a dream that I was lost during hiking. But I did not tell anyone about my dream. I got up, freshened up, ate my breakfast and packed my bags. At 8:25 I got in my school van and left for school. All my friends were already there at school. After 30 minutes of waiting, our school bus arrived. We got onto the bus and left for Kapan Gumba. We had lots of fun on the bus. We sang songs, watched a movie and danced. The bus stopped at a point and we started hiking from there. On our way, Angel, Smriti, Krituka, Sohana, Amita and I were joking with each other. We played music in the speaker and danced. We jumped and clicked photos. We then reached Jagdol. I bought 2 bottles of water there. We had our snacks with us so stayed in a park and had our snacks. After we finished eating, we enjoyed the view. The houses looked so small. We also saw the airport. The airport was bigger than the houses around. We were dancing and enjoying the view. We saw a cotton candy seller there. We bought a few cotton candies. After we finished eating our candies, we packed our bags and headed towards Fulbari Gumba. On the way, there were taps where we could drink water. I filled 6 bottles. The water was so cold. We sang songs and clicked photos. Finally, we reached our destination. Before entering, we listened to the rules. We clicked photos in the gate. Gumba was so big and beautiful. There was also a big garden circle. I clicked photo over there as well. After having enough fun it was time for us to return back. We started to walk towards Gokarna. The road was so long. The way was so muddy. The mud was sticking in all of our shoes. We were slipping. When we reached the halfway, Ms. Bipana forgot the way so Ms. Nirmal started to lead the line. We followed him to the farm. Pranjal fell down in the way. I picked him up. Then I started talking to Mr. Kuldeep. He started joking. In a moment again, Pranjal fell down. Prasanna and I picked him up and we went to an unknown aunt’s home. Pranjal cleaned himself there. Mr. Nirmal was already there on the bus. We sang songs on the bus. Finally, after we reached school I ran to the canteen for lunch. The food was so tasty. There was rice, dal, saag, and chicken. Then I washed my face and I got onto the bus again to head back home.

Date: 7th September 2018 That day was our literacy day. I was very excited about it. I thought the program would run in the same way as last year but the day was a little different. I was shocked looking at the decorations. It was done so nicely. I went to my class. My friends and I participated in skit so we practiced a lot. Then, we had our lunch. After lunch for 3 periods we free classes for class decoration. We started drafting in chart papers. Later we realized that working in the chart paper was of no use. So we went to Grade 2B for storytelling. The children liked our performance. Finally, it was time for our final performance. Grade 4 and 5 performed first. Secondly, it was our turn. Everyone told that our skit was really good. Even our teachers said that they liked it very much. The teachers who met us hugged and passed motivational comments.  They also said that we will get a chance to perform again on Tuesday. That was a very big opportunity for us to improve things we had to work on. After the completion of the program, I went back to my class, packed my bag and handed over all the materials I took from Ms. Yukta.

We went hiking. We had lots of fun there. I was very excited when we were in the bus. After we got off the bus, we started walking. We walked slowly, and sang songs. Our nurse teacher brought a speaker. We were also listening to songs and walking. Many of my friends also got electronic gadgets but I did not. Finally, after walking for pretty long time we reached Fulbari Gumba. The place was beautiful. We could see a beautiful view from there as well. After resting there for a while, we walked down towards Gokarna, where our bus was waiting for us. We had a lot of fun that day. I will always remember that day.  

Before sharing about vegetable farming, I would like to show my gratitude towards my school as it has been focusing not only on the theoretical course of study but also on a practical study. This has been helping us a lot. In our course of OBTE, we have been learning about farming since grade VII. We were also taken to a farm visit during grade VII which now became useful for us to do farming ourselves. In the current course also we have many contents related to farming so our subject teacher, Ms. Roma decided to give us practical work based on farming. We, students of grade VIII did provide a lot of effort in this practical work. We all were given a specific plot. The plot we were given was very bushy and dirty. At first, we cleaned it up and made it suitable for farming. But unfortunately, our term break started and the plot we were given turned to the same condition as it was in the first. So, we had to clean it up once again. When we completed the cleaning we planted corianders and green leafy vegetables in group cooperation. Everyone performed their task properly without leaving any loopholes. This practical task helped us learned a lot of new things about farming. The major thing we learned was cooperation among friends. We are really very thankful to the school and as well as to our subject teacher, Ms. Roma, who provided us with this opportunity. Our main concept of this practical study was to provide the school with green leafy vegetables so that it doesn’t have to invest in buying the vegetables. Along with that, it accommodated us with practical knowledge about farming. And now it got some green leafy vegetables to cook. If such experiential work is applied to every sector of Nepal, then with no doubt Nepal will be able to catch a new content of farming. Also, practical work is a very interesting job and a good lesson with real life experience. Hence, the concept of vegetable farming was quite awesome and motivating.  

Date: September 16.2018

Our school planned hiking for grade 6 and 7 to Kapan Gumba, Jagdol, Fulari Gumba in Gokarna. The hiking was on last Sunday so other classes except grade 6 and 7 had their regular classes. I arrived at school at 8:45 as always. I kept my bag in class and walked out with my friends. We had lots of chocolates. At 9:30 we left the school. I sat on the first seat of the bus. We sang and enjoyed a lot on the bus. Finally, our bus stopped at the point from where we started our hiking. I was astonished by the beauty of that place, especially the wonderful designs of temples. I enjoyed so much. We took some photos as well. We had a group formed. Ms. Roma, Niharika, Aarya, Muskan sister and I were there in a group. We shared so many things together. We clicked lots of photos of beautiful places around on our way to Jagdol. After walking a few distances, we stopped to have our lunch. After we finished eating, we started walking again. Finally, we reached Fulbari Gumba. It was a very silent place, the buildings were decorative and beautiful. We clicked a few photos there as well. Then we walked out of Gumba towards our bus.  My leg was hurting but I made it by the bus station. We reached school, had our snacks and waited for our parents. We went back home with our parents.

Date: 29th August 2018 I went to DAV school, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur for Slok and a dance competition. I was very excited to go there. I heard so many things about the school which is very big, has many halls and has more than 3000 students. It was exactly as same as what I heard when I reached there. Some of the halls were for orientation, some for music and dance competition, and some for prize distributions. Also, there were rules like taking off shoes while getting inside and so on. There were lots of security guards as well.
Now, I talk about the day of the competition. I went to school by 7:00 in the morning. We practiced, watched dance and helped dancers to get ready. We drank tea with biscuits. I was the last to finish eating. And then we headed towards our destination. However, that day vehicles with even number plate were not in use. So our school vehicle had to come and pick us up with fewer students than before. We, five students from grade 6, two students from grade 9 and two teachers went to school. When we reached the school we saw many character trees placed in certain gaps with photos of good students throughout the year. My sister was also there. They were in the photos because it's their prize. We presented our performance. We performed well. After the performance, we went for lunch. I ate my food. They said that 1500 students, 500 teachers and 1000 students of primary wing come on a day-to-day basis to eat in the canteen. After eating, we went to the hall-Buddha hall. It was so big, bigger than the movie theaters. Our teacher said ”We will leave at 11:00” but it was late. We were waiting for our result announcement. We were little nervous. Firstly they announced the result of dance. We stood second in the competition. We were awarded medals and certificates. Also, other members of my school participated in Slok Bachan. But they didn’t stand in any positions. We were sad. And it was already time to return back to our school as our teachers had a meeting. After we reached the school, I called my parents to pick me up.

I was very excited because it was a very big day for me. Our school took us to a big competition which was held in DAV school, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. Firstly there was a selection round in our school. Jiya, Niharika, Pranjal and I were selected for the competition. We were feeling very happy. When the day of the competition finally arrived, our respected teacher, Mr. Tej called us early in the morning to the school. We practiced a lot and were ready. We reached DAV school at 9:00. We were a bit nervous but we were very happy. In the hall, there were many schools and gurukuls. There were many competitions but our school took part in Sanskrit Slok and dance. Our turn came in 4th or 5th. It was so competitive as everyone performed so well. But we didn’t lose hope. After the performance, we went to eat. We all enjoyed the food very much and went back to the Buddha hall. It was so big. We sat there. Finally, the announcement was done. Our school stood second in the dance competition. There were many other announcements and then there was an announcement of Slok Competition. All gurukuls secured different positions but we did not. However, we were all happy because we participated in the big competition. Most importantly we learned that we should always respect our Sanskrit language as it is our main language and we all should read Sanskrit.

There was a competition held on DAV school. From our school, my friends and I participated in the competition. We participated in Slok Bachan and students from another class participated in Sanskrit dance. We practiced so much for the competition and the day finally came. We were very excited to perform. We all reached school early in the morning, practiced, and got ready. The teacher said he already had ordered a taxi so we waited for it. There were two taxies because we were so many that we could not fit in one taxi. We sat on taxies and left for the competition-Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Nepal. When we were on our way, the traffic stopped us and the driver said that we could not go from the road because of the Bimistic conference. Thus, we took the other road. Finally, we reached DAV school. It was very big. There was a big ground. There were stairs to go to the competition hall. There were some teachers to write our names and the name of our school. After the entry, we got inside. The hall was so big. There were many desks and benches to sit and many competitors were there. However, there were not many audiences because of Bimistic conference. Because of the conference, students from a lot of schools did not arrive in time so we waited for them. Not only Slok Vachan but there were essay writing, dance, Sanskrit speech, and more competitions. All of the competitions were held in different halls. There were tough competitors but we performed well. After our performance, we went to eat in the canteen. The canteen was huge. We finished our food and returned to the hall. By then it was time for the result announcement. Our school stood second in dance but we did not get any prizes for Slok Vachan. However, we learned so many things. Then, while returning to school, we enjoyed a lot.

On September 16, 2018, we went on the trip. That day, we reached school at 9:00 am. We went to our classroom, packed our things. At 9:30 am we were on the ground. At 9:45 am we got on our bus and van. 11 students from our class were in the van and Mr. Kuldeep and Ms. Bipana were also with us in the van. At 9:55 the bus left from Sifal. We passed through many shops. We were singing in the way. Then at 10:45 we reached a mountaineering place. When we reached there the students who were on the bus had not arrived. After some time all of us reached our destination. We started walking from that place with two lines. I was with Ms. Roma, Neharika, Jiya, and Aarya. We were having fun. I captured many pictures of that place. We were walking on the road. By the side of the road, there was beautiful scenery. I captured the scene in my camera.

After a few minutes of walking, we saw a beautiful temple. It was small but it was so beautiful. I took the photo of the temple as well. Then, we went through the jungle. We saw that letters on the cloth were hung on trees. It was so beautiful. Later, we reached Kapan Gumba. It was our first destination. We had group photos there. Then we went through the bushes. There were many leeches but we all were lucky that we were not hurt by those leeches. Then we were walking through the hills. We could see many buildings from the hills. We took a rest in the hills. We were very excited to see Fulbari Gumba. On the way, we danced. It was so much fun. Our teachers also danced with us. After some time we reached Jagdol. By the time, we were very hungry. We rested in the park. There was a tap in the park. We washed our hands and had our lunch. After we had lunch, I was with the sisters of grade 6. We had lots of fun together. Ms. Roma and Ms. Bipana were excited to dance so they gave their lunch to us. We ate fried noodle. At 1:15 we left the park. Then we went through the jungle and spotted waterfalls. Oh God! That was so beautiful. After some time we reached Gokarna and then Fulbari Gumba. We made two lines and walked silently. While returning from the Gumba we took a shortcut. The road was stoney and my legs were hurting. Then, we pass through a village. The way was small so many people fell down in the mud. Ms. Roma was with us but Ms. Bipana and Mr. Nirmal were walking in front of us. After walking for one and a half hours, we finally reached the bus. We were so happy to see the bus and van so we got inside the van. On the way, I was looking at the pictures in my camera. My friend brought a tab so I was listening to songs through earphones. Finally, at 4:15  we reached school. Then we had snacks. Mr. Pukar asked me “How was your hiking?” I said that I had lots of fun. Actually, the person I missed a lot throughout hiking was Mr. Pukar.

Tuesday -  the Tihar celebration day in school. I had nothing to do but my friends participated in some activities. We only had to attend classes in the first half. When we were having our dance class, some friends went to the competition. After our dance class, I wished luck to my house members. My best friend and I went back to the class as we both were not participating. We discussed homeworks and played a game called designing. We played the game with four people. After completing, we went downstairs and showed the design to our class teacher. She was impressed with us and loved our design. She asked us to pin it in pinboard and we did it. My other friends also appreciated our work. Only 15 minutes were left before the final bell but our teacher gave us a little more time to enjoy.

I woke up at 6 in the morning. I made my bed. I bought the newspaper from a shop. Then I got ready for the school. I went to school and started working for my project. I was paired up with groups. First of all, we made plan in a sheet. We decided to make two groups among our group. We decided that Sulav and I would work in Nepali, Shirish and Prachin in English. Aarav and Albert were there to help us. I made the cover page of the book ”Yodha” for the book talk. And my other friends also worked as decided. We presented our work. Finally, after the program ended, we went home. The program was fun!
