Life changes for Ivan when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, and he starts to see his environment in a new light. Determined to save Ruby from a life of staying in a domain, Ivan plans to free her and himself by using his art to communicate with humans.

Katherine Applegate's use of Ivan's voice to tell the story adds a unique and nice touch, making the reader connect deeply with the characters.
I highly recommend this book to children and adults alike. You should read this book once in your lifetime and also whenever you are bored.
