Buddha Jayanti is also known as Buddha Purnima. It is the most important day for Buddhists. It is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Gautam Buddha. It falls on a full moon day in the hindu calendar. Gautam Buddha is the founder of Buddhism. Gautam Buddha was born in 623 BC in Lumbini, Kapilvastu, Nepal. The name of his father is king Suddhodhan and his mother is queen Maya Devi. Many people visit different monasteries on this day.
