Prithvi Narayan Shah is the father of our nation. He was born in Gorkha and was the crown prince. Since he was a child, he was always courageous and had the vision to become a great king. He united the small kingdoms into one large nation, "Nepal". He also declared Kathmandu the capital of Nepal. He spread the feeling of unity among the people. He was a brave and ambitious king. He died at the age of 52. We celebrate his birthday as Prithvi Jayanti, or National Unity Day, every year.
