I have read many story books. But, the story I like the most is “The Princess and the Pea.” This story is illustrated by Marco Guadalupi and has been retold by Mairi Mackinnon. In this story, there is a prince named Florian who lives with his parents in a beautiful Palace. He feels lonely because he has no brothers and sisters. Once, he tells his parents that he wants to get married to a real princess. His parents become happy and excited and they send prince Florian to meet some princesses but nobody is interested in him.
One stormy night, a girl named Rosamond comes to his Palace. She calls herself a princess and the prince wants to know if she is speaking the truth. The queen has an idea to check if she is a real princess. She puts some dried peas under Rosamond’s mattresses. The next morning, Rosamond says that she couldn’t sleep well because something pricked her from under her bed. The queen finds out that she was a real princess because she could even feel the peas from under her bed.
At last, prince Florian and princess Rosamond are ready to get married.
