The BFG, written by Roald Dahl, is a story about a friendly giant known as the BFG who gives good dreams to children who happened to be friends with a girl named Sophia. Together the BFG and Sophia with help from the Queen of England rid the world of the child-eating giant. The story is wonderful and filled with amazing events. This book is funny and also interesting. It is a classic fantasy for elementary students to listen to and middle schoolers to read. The author's writing style is very simple and beautiful. The central theme of The BFG is teamwork.  Sophie and the BFG work together to try to achieve an end. The BFG is extremely against eating human beings. Instead of eating humans, he spends his time collecting dreams and blowing them into children's bedrooms with his trumpet. The main genre of this book is fantasy fiction. The main characters are the BFG, Sophie, the Queen, and the Giants. My favorite character is The BFG. He is clever and caring. BFG teaches many valuable life lessons. And one of my favorites is when the BFG discusses the senselessness of violence, the way humans frequently kill each other but other species rarely do. He takes bad dreams out by catching them in a jar and keeping them on shelves in his cave.
