On 15th of Jestha, our school organised a public orientation related to health. Our school invited Dr. Smriti Mathema, who is a paediatrician. She discussed "How to Take Care of Our Health as We Grow" in Middle School. She was sweet and kind. She interacted with us in a very friendly manner and even asked us many questions.
She talked about how to take care of our health before reaching adolescence. First of all, she spoke about what we usually do to take care of our health. For example, brushing our teeth, combing out our hair, taking showers, and so on. Then she started talking about adolescence. She discussed adolescence and what happens during that period. The things she said are briefly summarised below.
Teenage refers to the age range from 10 to 19, which is a crucial period in life for physical, mental, and emotional development. During this time, girls go through menstruation, while boys experience wet dreams. The first occurrence of menstruation in girls is known as menarche. Girls who are unaware of menstruation are usually scared. Menstruation typically occurs once a month and lasts for 3–6 days. It may cause lower abdominal pain, mood swings, depression, acne, and more.
People in the adolescent period undergo various changes. Teenagers often have a strong odour, which can be controlled by wearing deodorant and practising daily hygiene habits. They may also experience hair growth in areas such as the chest, chin, armpits, and more.
Overall, her visit made everyone more conscious of their health, and it was both informative and fun.
