Nepal does not have a very long cinema/ film history but has been trying to maintain its place in history. As of now, most of the nepali films have been inspired by the indian movie industry. Almost all of the Nepali films of this generation have the same storyline which was used in the 1990s Bollywood.

Although few new generation directors are trying to display a different storyline and give the film a new look but maximum audience of Nepal and people of film industry prefer to have a traditional pattern. This is why directors and producers hesitate to make a different film compared to others.

If a director tries to make a film with a different storyline or give a new taste to film, either the producer will reject it or the film board of Nepal. However with these difficulties new generation movie makes have come up to make a new sensible entertainment cinema rather than dramatic and socio- action Bollywood inspired ores. Movies such as kalo pothi, jatra jatra, pashupati Prasad, loot, kabaddi kabaddi, dhanapati etc. have been released so far but accept few of them, none of them grabbed the profit of money required to make it a hit. Due to this, there have been rejecting new generation films and producers' experimental films.
