A girl who has 6 million + followers, who is praised by everyone. Many people would love to get her life or actually be her. However, it has dark sides as well. Jang Wonyoung, a famous idol, was born on August 31st, 2004 , currently 18, which makes her one of the youngest idols in the whole worldwide industry. Jang Wonyoung was a participant in a survival show called “Produce 48” from the company Starship entertainment and won the first place of it as well. The group formed by the survival show was called as “Iz*one”. After Iz*one disbanded, she debuted in a group called “Ive” after 1 year. She is also a model and representation for different luxury fashion houses which makes her extremely popular.
You may ask where her problem is, after being a “perfect” popular idol. Well, she is extremely hated for many things since her ex group Iz*one. First for being “self centred”. According to the Korean Survival Shows, the person who gets the first position will be declared as the centre of the group. Jang Wonyoung was average in her vocals, rap , dance but she was praised alot for her visuals. In her group, Iz*One, there were other vocalists, rappers and dancers. Though, she got most in everything. Sometimes, in the line distribution, she got the most lines where she was not the main vocal and in most of their songs/performances, she got the most centre positions. However, that was only 30% of the hate she got. Fans or people caught her attitude that she was giving to her mates. For example: She was disrespecting her seniors in the group, she always wanted to be in the centre, she often gets the best clothes in the group, she was glaring rudely to her seniors in her group. As that was not enough, she got more and more hate on her new group, Ive. People think that the company favours her alot and it makes sense why people say that. The company often gives her the clothes which make her more seeable or odd than others , she gets best dressed, she gets more lines than the main vocalist etc, she gets more promotion. She is also called “the pick me girl” because of the way she eats her strawberries, pizza and milk. Though, I agree the way she changes her voice into a cute voice, eating strawberry acting cute is cringe, she does not deserve to be called pick me. She is also accused of having plastic surgery because of her unreal visuals. She is often called lazy as well during performing. Due to her being the company’s princess and her popularity, she overshadows her group and people started to call her group, Ive “Jang WonYoung and Friends”.
Her health does not seem good. She seems to be on a diet every single day or she has an eating disorder. Many people are expressing their concerns about her health due to thin stick body. If we see her recent photos, she has rapidly lost weight since her “Produce-48” era. Though many people hate her, they are also worried for her.
Besides from hate, she gets extremely supported and praised for her looks. She is called as the “girl of the 4th generation group” as she gets many promotions and sponsors from luxury brands, she is the youngest model for the cover page for magazines, she has a huge fan base too.
