Janai Purnima is one of the biggest Hindu festivals celebrated especially in Newar, Brahmin and Chhetri communities. Janai Purnima is the festival when male members wear sacred thread known as “janai”. Brothers and sisters also exchange rakhi with each other. That’s why the festival is also known as Raksha Bandhan.
