YouTube is a famous American online video sharing and social media platform whose headquarters is in San Bruno, California. It was launched on February 14, 2005, by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. YouTube is owned by Google, it is the second most visited website. YouTube has more than one billion monthly users who together watch more than one billion hours of videos each day. As of May 2019, videos were being uploaded at a rate of more than 500 hours of content per minute.

In October 2006, 18 months after posting the first video and 10 months after its official launch YouTube was bought by Google for $1.65 billion. YouTube also offers YouTube premium which is  a paid subscription option for watching content without ads. YouTube and approved creators participate in Google's AdSense program, which is used to generate more revenue for both parties. Since the purchase of YouTube by Google, it has expanded beyond its website and into mobile apps, network television, and the ability to link with other platforms. Some video categories on YouTube are  music videos, video clips, news, short films, feature films, documents, audio recordings, movie trailers, teasers, live streams, vlogs, and more. Most content is generated by individuals and what they watch. YouTube has also made many YouTubers into millionaires. They are those people who post videos on the platform to increase their viewers, watch time, subscribers, likes etc. Some famous YouTubers are Pwedipie, Mr Beast etc. YouTube is watched by people of different ages and many children in this new modern era dream of becoming a famous YouTuber in the future. 

YouTube also rewards YouTubers after they enter a certain number of subscribers. The first YouTube play button you can get is after reaching 100k subscribers. After reaching that milestone you will get the silver play button. It is estimated that there are around 306000 channels with over 100k subscribers. The next play button you can get is the gold play button. You can get this play button after reaching 1000000 subscribers. It is estimated that there are 32300 channels who have surpassed 1 million subscribers. The next award you can get is the 10 million subscribers diamond play button. Only a few channels have reached the huge milestone of 10 million subscribers. It is estimated that 700 channels have suppressed these huge milestones. The next play button is the 50 million subscribers custom play button. This play button is only owned by a few YouTube channels and this play button is given to only some channels who surpassed 50 million subscribers. The next and the latest play button is the 100 million subscribers red diamond play button. There are only 3 of these play buttons in this world. Pewdiepie is the first person to own this playbutton.
