Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th annually to spread awareness about environmental protection. It is also called "Eco Day." It was celebrated for the first time in 1973 with the initiation of the United Nations Assembly. People and organisations from over 143 countries participate in the event. It is celebrated with a new theme every year, hosted by different countries. This year, 2022, it is hosted by Sweden with the theme of "Only One Earth".

The environment means everything around us, like forests, water, aquatic life, soil, air, etc. Our environment is affected by our activities like cutting down trees, polluting the air with harmful gases, smoking, hunting wild animals and using plastic. The other actions that help the environment are: planting trees, using fewer natural resources, electricity, water, limiting the use of plastics, reducing, reusing, and recycling waste, volunteering to clean up our community, etc.

So the environment is the only thing that makes our lives sustainable. Without it, we could not survive a single day. As a result, environment day is important to commemorate in order to raise awareness among people all over the world about the importance of environmental conservation for a better future.
