Abuse of Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech is a right of principle that supports an individual or community's right to express their thoughts freely. But having the right to speech does not mean that an individual can be offensive to other people. While using your right to speech one must not violate other rights.

These days due to access to different social media, the boundaries of the right to speech have been blurry. The faster and cheaper access to communication has made it easy to abuse such rights. If we explore the social media pages we can find many people and communities being offensive to other groups of people without having any consequences. Many people attack other people by being anonymous on social media. This has encouraged many people to abuse their right to free speech.

We can see people trying to destroy other people's image by spreading false information about them.  People also post other people’s pictures without their consent. Doing so has been normal these days due to the excess use of social media. If someone tries to call out someone for being offensive these days, they themselves get called out for not letting them use their freedom of speech.

People need to learn the difference between expressing their thoughts and ideas and being offensive to people. And being anonymous on social media does not mean you can say whatever you want without facing any consequences.
