The moon is a natural satellite that moves around the earth. We see it shining at night by the light of the sun which reflects in it. It looks beautiful and shiny. The moon is the second brightest part of the sky after the sun.
The moon was founded 4.5 billion years ago. It was about 30 to 50 million years after the emergence of the Solar System, coming out of debris thrown into orbit by a massive collision. The collision was between a small proto-Earth and another planet that was almost the size of Mars. In our solar system, the moon is constantly orbiting at the same rate as it orbits.
Neil Armstrong was the first person to step on the moon. He and Aldrin travelled for three hours. They did experiments. Life on the moon is impossible because there is no water and most of the moon's surface is covered with a mixture of fine dust and rocky debris produced by a meteor impact.
The moon looks beautiful from the earth. When we look at the moon at night, we see dark spots on it. These dark areas are dangerous rocks and pits. The gravitational pull of the moon is smaller than that of the earth. So, it is difficult to walk on the surface of the moon.
