Football is a game with 11 players. Out of the 11 players, 10 players can’t use their hands or arms. The goalkeeper is the only person that can use his/her hand, but he/she can only use their hand when they are inside the box. The game is played against 2 teams or countries. The team that can score more goals will win the game. The Fédération International de Football Association (FIFA) is the governing body of football. The name “Fédération Internationale de Football Association” is French, and it translates to the International Federation of Football Association.
Modern football was invented in 1863, England. Back then football had no rules. Football later in 1870 all handling of the ball except by the goalkeeper was prohibited by the FIFA football match to have a referee to monitor the game. When the players tackle someone they can get a red or yellow card depending on the injury. If a player gets a red card, then the player is suspended from the match and the team will only have 10 players. If the player gets two yellow cards, then it means a direct red card. If the ball has gone out of the boundaries, then the other team can throw the ball inside of the pitch. If the ball is thrown behind the goal post by its own player then the other player can take a corner.
When one of the players is tired then a player can be substituted. The team also has a coach and manager. The coach gives instructions and tips to the players. Sometimes players become coaches after retirement like Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Pep Guardiola etc. They are also some of the most famous managers of all time. In football, there are many tactics and formations. The examples of formations are 4-3-3, 4-1-2-1-2, 4-3-1-2, 4-4-2 etc. Out of these formations, the 4-3-3 is the best and most used formation. In these formations, there are names of the positions like GK, CB, RB, LB, CM, CAM, LW, ST, RW etc.
There are also different awards and trophies. The award and trophies can be for an individual country or club. They get awards or trophies for their performance like the awards or trophies of a country are The World cup, The Euros, The Copa America etc. The awards or trophies of a club are Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, Europa League. The Copa America is a football competition for only South American countries held every 4 years. The Euro Cup is a competition for only European countries. The UEFA Champions League is held once a year. The World Cup is the biggest football competition held every 4 years.
