The solar system was made when gas, asteroids, comets & so on were held together with gravity. There are 5 dwarf planets. They are Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, Eris & Pluto. In the same way, there are 8 planets. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Among them, Mercury is the smallest planet. It is also the closest planet to the Sun. It has no moons. It is named after the Roman god Mercurius.
The second planet after Mercury is Venus. It is the hottest planet due to its thick toxic, acidic, atmosphere. It is named after the Roman god Venus.
Earth is the third planet. It is our home, It is the only planet with life. There is 70% water on the Earth's surface. It has 1 moon.
Mars is the fourth planet. It is named after the Roman god Mars. It is red because of the rusty iron on its surface and it has 2 moons.
Jupiter is the fifth planet. It is also the biggest planet. It is a gas giant. It has many storms, one example is the big red spot. It has 79 moons. It is named after the Roman god Jupiter.
