Tissues are a group of cells that have familiar structures, which function as a unit. There are about 4 main tissues and they are, epithelial tissues, connective tissues, muscle tissues, and nervous tissues.  Each is designed for specific functions. Epithelial tissues help in protection, secretion, absorption, excretion, diffusion, and sensory reception.
Nervous tissues are found in the brain, spinal cords, and nerves. The nervous tissue is also responsible for controlling and coordinating our whole body.
The function of muscular tissue is to move our body. It also helps to maintain proper posture and position. There are 3 types of muscle tissues. They are skeletal, cardiac and smooth.
Connective tissues bind structures together, store fat, transport substances, protect against disease, and help repair tissue damage. The study of human and animal tissues is known as histology.
