Can violence resolve terrorism?

War on terrorism is terrorism itself. Terrorism is a global concern. We cannot solve terrorism which itself is a violent act by the means of violence. It is not the terrorists that we need to kill, rather the psychology of the terrorists. As put in by Malala Yousafzai, using violence as a tool to counter terrorism can kill terrorists but not terrorism. Violence can never get us to a final solution.

Whether or not, to use violence as a way to counter terrorism has always been a topic of discussion to everyone.  It threatens peace and security. It is a criminal act where the innocents are killed in order to affect others. In terrorism, a group of people compels an individual, group, organization or the government  to do any act by risking the lives of the prisoners. Terrorism is an evil act, but ill treatments and tortures taken as a way to combat terrorism can make it even worse. Such measures espoused as method to fight terrorism has questioned our potentiality and sensibility to fight against the terrorism.

Violence against violence creates more violence. Through violence, we cannot stop terrorism. Terrorism will still be there no matter how badly we torture the terrorists as they do not get affected by their death or of any of their members. There are terrorists who accept their own death to harm other people and to complete their aim. When even death does not stop terrorism, being violent to end it is not going to help. To actually win terrorism, we need to know their root cause and begin solving it from its root. We need to start thinking from the terrorist’s psychology. Among various reasons for a person to get involved in terrorism, lack of awareness and illiteracy are some. The person falls prey due to lack of awareness. They do not realize them being the reason for the conflict. They can easily be influenced and misguided by others and might not have the ability of making the appropriate decision.  So, increasing awareness about terrorism, running campaigns about how it can affect the world, etc. might help. When combating terrorism, we need to act sensibly rather than implementing the violence.

Brutality cannot help us in countering terrorism. Instead, other techniques which are non-violent will truly help in ending terrorism should be considered. Terrorism should be dealt with in a non-discriminatory and non-retroactive manner. The major reason behind the terrorism is the stereotypical behaviour shown towards the those following religions like Islam and accuse them for being a terrorist even when they condemn such acts.  Those people are boycotted socially and politically just because of the religion they follow which creates hatred among people. Also, the media coverage exhibits them in a negative way. All these must be considered and lead towards the betterment of society.
