Haleshi Mahadev is situated in the Khotang region of Nepal. It is also known as the Halesi-Maratika-Caves. The temple lies inside a beautiful, mysterious cave on top of a small hill. Two sacred rivers: Dudh Koshi and Sun Koshi flow to the temple and it is believed to have existed for some 6000 years. Haleshi is one of the well-known temples in Nepal. This temple was built naturally. It is also referred to as the Pashupatinath of the East. This Temple is an area of pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists.
Haleshi Mahadev is the temple of Lord Shiva. It is widely believed that in the temple, the Haleshi Cave has been used for residing. These caves host various ceremonies and festivals, especially various mela, during Mahashivaratri, Chaturthi etc. Its entrance is formed like a half-moon and faces in the direction of the east. The climate of this place is cold and rainy. People visit this temple and the cave to worship and enjoy the beauty of nature.
