Judo History

Judo is a sport of the Olympics. Judo was created in 1882 by Kano Jigoro Shihan. As an educational method derived from the martial arts and judo means the way of gentleness. Judo was firstly introduced in Nepal for Nepal police in 1983 AD. 
Judo is the sport which gives us physical, mental and moral sport. They wear special dresses called ‘Judogi’. People practice for lots of days so they can get into the tournament. They practice on a big mat so they do not get hurt. They have a belt ranking starting with the first white belt, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown and black. Judo has three basic categories of waza (techniques)
 1. nage-waza (throwing techniques) 
 2. katame-waza (grappling techniques) 
 3. atemi-waza (striking techniques). 
The student of judo is called ‘Judoka’.
