The national flag of Nepal is the world’s only non-quadrilateral flag. It was adopted on 16th December 1962. The flag of Nepal is crimson red with blue colour on the border. Our flag has the sun and the moon on it. The national flag of Nepal consists of two juxtaposed triangular figures with a crimson-coloured base and deep blue borders, there being a white emblem of the crescent moon with eight rays visible out of sixteen in the upper part and a white emblem of a twelve rayed sun in the lower part. It borrows from the original,  traditional design used throughout the 19th and 20th centuries; it is also the world's only double-pennon Flag. After Prithvi Narayan Shah unified Nepal, he adopted the double-pennon flag. Its crimson red is the symbol of bravery. It is also the colour of  Rhododendron (The national flower of Nepal). While the blue colour on the border is the symbol of peace. The flag of Nepal was derived from Hinduism. The sun and moon indicate that Nepal will enjoy the same longevity as the sun and moon.
