Accidents are not supposed to happen. Whatever the reason behind that, it always leads to the bad consequences. Talking about the reason behind, most accidents happen due to the carelessness of the driver, road conditions and lack of specific road for pedestrians. Speeding, disregard of traffic laws, overloading, outdated and poorly maintained vehicles are other factors. Accidents can also occur if a single person drives the vehicle without any stoppage, any sort of breaks, if he has to complete an entire long route by himself, lack of concentration and fatigue leads to accidents. The causes of road accidents also includes overloaded and drunk driving. Pedestrians and stray animals often cause accidents sometimes.

People are not concerned toward the aftermath but assume to have no choice but to drive, frequently overlooking the possibility of accidents, in the festival rush. They hurry to board overcrowded buses, microbuses, and other vehicles as there are few public vehicles. Reckless driving by drivers of public vehicles also causes accidents because of the rush. Because of speed and riding under the influence of alcohol, most motorcycle accidents occur.

Experts claim that more than 90% of Nepal's incidents occur because of drivers' negligence. Some other factors are also mechanical failure, poor road conditions, reckless pedestrians, and bad weather, they claim. According to them, accidents caused by insufficient road maintenance and the presence of animals and pedestrians on the highways was under-reported. Each day seven people die in road accidents in Nepal. Authorities have struggled to implement adequate measures to control road injuries as most people ignore the fact and do not obey the rules. There might be different causes of accidents but lack of awareness in minimal things leads to these fatal consequences.
