Social service means serving people in society or helping people who are in need. It is voluntary service. In rendering social service, we do not expect anything in return. It is being practiced all over the world.

We live in a society where human beings have some duties and responsibilities to be fulfilled. We should help other people so that they will also help as well when we are in need. Suppose if we see a man being hit by a car then our responsibility is to take him/her immediately  to hospital and call his/her relatives. This is the duty of an individual as being the citizen of the country. Good people tend to provide social service, while bad people ignore it. Social service can also improve the quality of life in people.

Social service can be divided into different forms. Rich people can provide social service by constructing orphanages, schools, hospitals etc. Poor people can contribute to the social service by helping in the construction of different things. Educated people can provide education to the needy families. In social service both the giver and receiver are benefited equally directly or indirectly. In social service the receiver is benefited by somehow improvement in their life or standard of living and thinking whereas the giver gets benefit of being renowned and as well as love and respect from society.

There are also some organizations which are established to provide social service to the country. Paropakar Association, Nepal boy and girl Scout Association are some of the examples of it. A well known organization all over the world is the Red Cross Society.

Everyone should learn to provide social service. Students should be taken to villages to help the villagers in some ways. So, from that they will understand the concept of it.
