My country's name is Nepal. It lies in southern Asia. It is a landlocked country. It lies between India and China.  Its capital city is Kathmandu. It has seven states. The official language of my country is the “Nepali language”. It has three different regions. They are the Himalayan, Hilly and Terai regions. The  Himalayan region covers 15% of the land, the Hilly region covers 68% of land and the Terai region covers 17 % of the land. Nepal is a truly beautiful country.
Along with social and cultural diversity, there is natural,  geographical and biological diversity in our country. Several species of birds, animals, and plants that are rare in the world are found here. It has very different rare animals like one-horned rhinoceros, spiny babbler, wild buffalo, red panda and Royal Bengal tiger. Nepal is very rich in cultural heritage. It is also rich in water resources. There are about 6000 large and small rivers which flow from north to south. There are several lakes and beautiful natural places which attract tourists to visit our country. Nepal is the place of the biggest mountain Mount Everest and the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It is famous in the world for its natural beauty. Nepal’s flag is truly unique from other countries’ flags. It even has a sun and moon on it. Nepal has heavenly weather throughout the year. It has winter which is a bit cold. Summer is hot and the monsoon season is very good for farming.
Nepal is called a multilingual, multicultural and multi-ethnic country. There is unity in diversity in our country. There are 126 castes/ ethnic groups living here. Among them, 59 are the indigenous nationalities. 123 languages are spoken here. The followers of ten religions live here. The people of Nepal have different festivals according to their caste, culture and region. People in the  Himalayan region celebrate Gyalpo Lhosar, Buddha Jayanti, while people in the high Hilly region celebrate Sonam Lhosar, Tamu  Lhosar, Shakeela, Nuwagi, Chamachasok etc. Similarly, people of Mid hills and the Kathmandu valley celebrate Teej, Buddha Jayanti,  Sithi Nakha, Machhindranath Jatra, Indra Jatra, Bisket Jatra, etc.  People of the Terai region celebrate Chhatt, Maghi, Holi, Siruwa, Gaura with joy. Dashain and Tihar are the biggest festivals that are celebrated in all parts of Nepal. I love my country very much.
