The Sun is a big star at the center of the solar system. It looks like a bright, shiny ball of fire. The Sun shines in the sky during the day. It rises in the east and sets in the west. The Sun is very far from the Earth, so it looks small. The Earth revolves around the Sun. Hindu religion considers the Sun as a god. It gives light and heat to us. It keeps us warm during winter. Plants use sunlight to prepare food. Sunlight kills germs and makes us free from diseases. The rays of the sun give us vitamin D. The sun rays help in drying clothes. It also helps in the formation of clouds, which further helps in causing rainfall. In solar cookers, sun-rays are used to prepare food. Sunlight is also stored in the solar cells of the battery. The Sun is the main source of energy on Earth. So, life on Earth is not possible without the Sun.
