Field Visit 2023

Our school Deerwalk Sifal School took us on a field visit to the National Fruit Development Centre located in KirtipurWe started our journey at 11:15 AM. I was on Route 9. My seat partners were Aadhyashree, Aliza and Sauravi. We reached the National Fruit Development Centre at 12:19 PM. After we got off the bus, our teachers went to the office to get more information about the guide. We started looking around and exploring the place. After our teachers finalized the guide, we took some class pictures. We started our field visit at around 12:30 PM. This is the information that I obtained from the field visit.

The smell of the flower Jai is very good. The nets are kept to protect the plants from birds. We saw the Dragon fruit plant, and we observed that the plant is very short. We observed the Japanese Pears. We saw many species of Pear trees. We saw a Walnut tree and visited the walnut production block. We saw many trifoliate orange trees; many of the trees were over 60-70 years old. We observed Avocado trees. We also observed nurseries throughout the place. We observed the Lemon trees. We explored and went inside the compost house. We also went through the pear production block. We observed the Kumquat production block. We also observed Kiwi plants. We went through the glass house and screen house area. We observed Chestnut trees. We observed a pineapple production block. We went through various mother plant blocks. At last, we visited the Park and sat there for around 5 minutes.

 

Observation and Learning

Tree Lotus- Grows on trees

Trifoliate Orange- Very important for various uses like obtaining citrus

Birds- Used to protect plants from birds 

Avocado- Used as food nutrition 

Cold store- Fruit store with a temperature of Zero degree

 

In conclusion, I enjoyed the trip very much. I am very thankful to the school authorities for organizing this field visit. I learnt many things throughout the field visit. This was not only fun, but also helped me obtain many facts and knowledge about plants and their usage for various purposes.
