A story is an account of imaginary and real-life people and events told for entertainment. Folk stories are traditional stories that are passed down from generations. They can sometimes be centuries old, too. It was an important source of entertainment for people in ancient times. Folk stories always have morals. The morals educate children about our culture and our values. It also represents our history. It is also important as it protects our culture. Every culture has its own type of folk story.

Nepal is a culturally and naturally diverse country. There are many indigenous groups in Nepal. These groups inhabit specific regions. Different indigenous groups have their own cultures, hence their own folk stories with their own morals. These are examples of Nepal’s folk stories: Sunkesari, Gurumapa, Bhoto Jatra, etc.

Folk tales can be used in a variety of ways to help children:

Overall, folk stories serve as a bridge between the past and the present, preserving cultural heritage and passing down important lessons to new generations.
