Shivaratri is a special day for Hindus and the devotees of Shiva. It usually falls in the month of Falgun. This year, it falls on the 25th Falgun, Friday. This day marks the special remembrance to the marriage of Goddess Parvati, the reincarnation of the goddess of power and lord Shiva, one of the three supreme gods. It is believed that all living beings have these two factors residing within them. People celebrate this day with a lot of enthusiasm and devotion. They fast throughout the day and meditate too. It is believed that staying awake on the Shivaratri night will help one achieve more spirituality. In Nepal, there is a special fair at Pashupati area and other places too.
