Global warming is the long-term warming of the atmosphere and the Earth. This has been going for a long time but has increased in the past hundred years due to the burning of fuels. As the human population increases, the burning of fuels also increases and that causes the greenhouse effect in the Earth's atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is when the sun's rays penetrate into the atmosphere, but when that heat is reflected from the surface, it cannot escape back into space.

Gases produced by the burning of fuels prevent the heat from leaving the atmosphere. Some of these gases include carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, water vapour, methane, and nitrous oxide. The excess heat has caused the temperature to rise over time, which is known as global warming. It has also brought another issue and that is climate change.
